Review from Faezah W.
This is one of the nicer Hilton Hotels I've seen or stayed in. The entrance is amazing with all the lighting and curved drive way, just imagine yourself famous rolling up to your hotel lol it feels that way. Inside of the front lobby, you will see few restaurants and cafe on your right and towards the left, front desk help and a pathway towards more parking and a massage spa/salon. You can see all 20 floors( or more, I forgot the amount of floors there are) lighted up against the open wall/balcony concept and if your on any floor, you can look down and see the lobby with all green trees and sofas for waiting guests etc. it's hard to explain the lobby, I'll try to take a photo next time I go there.
The rooms are large and spacious and the air inside never feels like "old air" especially for a smoking room. I like the colour concept at this hotel, everything is cream, beige, white and gold linings. The corner rooms are absolutely fab, feels like an apartment and I don't wanna leave haha. Good size flat screen tv in the living/sitting room with mirrors around, with the corner rooms, you also get a dining table there's more space to place it as opposed to normal rooms. The room we got, came with a comfy, plush king size bed with nice window view of the highway and surround area of Markham especially at night with the city lights.
The only smoking rooms I know of, are on the 20th floor, usually rooms 2021 to 2025. Room service for food closes early but you can still get wine delivered to the room past 9pm, they do it really quick too. No waiting necessary. It's located in Markham. It's really nice place, great service. Hilton makes the experience. -
Review from Jani B.
This hotel is old and smelly.
My bf and I were staying in the area, and looking to leave the Sheraton we were staying at (a whole different review). The non-smoking rooms we toured (a King, and a King-suite) smelled stale and dusty, and the King-suite smelled like a chain-smoker was there last. Both of us made offhand comments to the woman guiding us, about the intensely smokey smell of a supposedly non-smoking King Suite, but she was either playing dumb or was just not willing to address the issue.
Still, we liked the King suite enough, so we booked a different one, hoping that it wouldn't have the smokey, stale smell.
It did. A lot.
We also found out on check-in that because we were booking on New Years Eve, we would have to wear wristbands otherwise security would not let us go to our rooms. This idea annoyed me. I just paid for access to a room. I don't want to jump through hoops or have any hassles accessing it. Yes, it's a minor thing, but it still stood out to me.
Ten minutes later we walked out of the room and decided to continue trying to find another place.
When we found a better hotel (Hilton Garden Inn down the road), the Hilton Suites were kind enough to refund the entire bill. Also, I do want to mention every staff person we met was extremely friendly, warm, and accommodating (before and after).
But seriously, Hilton Suites. Invest in an entirely new air filtration system. Do you realize how much older and rundown a place looks when the air is stale and smoky?
No one at the front desk mentioned anything about paid parking - so either they don't do that anymore, or they were failing to deliver a whole chunk of info. We didn't stay long enough to figure it out. -
Review from Rana L.
2.5/5 for overall service, 4/5 for looks, 4/5 for overnight stay, 1/5 frustrations throughout the year & esp the end.
I don't know where to begin.... This coud be a super long @$$ rant.
Location wise, this was the best choice. It was 10 mins away from the church & Hilton Suites used to be my dream location. I especially love their lobby and hallways. It was very luxurious, elegant & beautiful. Any photos here would look amazing.
Union: As with any hotel, golf course, etc. Hilton is unionized. Which means we could not bring in any food/drinks from outside, must go w/ their caterer & naturally comply w/ their rules, regulations, prices. We were however allowed to bring in the wedding cake.
Conference Centre: To accomodate our number, we had to have the reception at the Conference Centre. The Donald Cousen room is very spacious. However I knew there was A LOT of work on our end just to make it look more intimate & romantic. There were no mirrors on the walls unlike their Markham Ballroom (which can accomodate up to 250 & always fully booked on weekends), but wooden panels & nice lights. When we first saw the conference centre, it was honestly a little depressing. But when done up w/ the chair covers, flowers & proper lights it can loook very beautiful no question.
Western & Chinese catering avail: It was more cost efficient to have a western menu reception here as the alcohol was included. For the Chinese menu, the alcohol (host bar & wines for tables) & dessert table (chocolate fountain, tarts, fruits, tea coffee, etc.) were additional to the cost of table. For the Chinese wedding banquet ...you get the ballroom, bridal change room, wine fruit punch station at cocktail, 8 or 10 course chinese dinner, complimentary soft drinks & chinese tea, table mirror & 3 tea lights on table (very nice touch), chair covers (plain), roll up menus per table (its pink and not attractive at all so i made my own), complimentary podium & microphone, upgraded suite for the couple w/ sparkling wine, fruit basket, breakfast , special rate for guests, free parking, use of hotel for photos. Chinese catering is by Empire Court which is also the inhouse caterer of Markham Event Centre, La Rosa Banquet Hall I think.
Food: We were very happy at the food tasting. The food was delicious. On the day however it was not up to par. The food was not always served hot ...which was our main concern for them & some guests complained afterwards. Guests also complained about their slow pace in serving. It delayed the entire evening. The entire dinner probably ended close to midnite! Dessert Table - i only had one bite of the chocolate fountain... but the chocolate was def. the best i'd ever had. It was belgium coco butter chocolate.
Special Events Manager - Cassandra: She is good at her job & smooth talking. But at times it was very difficult to get a hold of her. Often it was someone of authority on our end who would be able to catch her then I would hear back...or when it was time for deposits, $$ then she was very timely.
My hubby was definitely not happy w/ the Hilton as they only seemed to care about the funds. Charging us left and right. I was quite annoyed towards the end as they charged us an additional $200 for fire hazard fee. Months prior, I was told it would be perfectly fine to have dry ice which will not set off the alarm. However w/ a week to go ... SUDDENLY it was necessary to charge this as another wedding supposedly had dry ice and set off the alarm.
We were also not happy w/ the way the alcohol system (host bar) was tracked. It was very difficult to see if they were honest or not (counting caps & empty bottles, all done internally). God knows we were probably ripped off & didn't know. Cuz how can u contest this?
We were also super annoyed when some of the older children received a kids meal instead when they were suppose to have adult. It was clearly written on the master floorplan and discussed at the final meeting. We were charged for more kid meals & they blamed us for the problem. Seriously? We aren't the ones who farked up. Please don't bite the hand feeding you. They told us the parents of the children (my cousins) @ table 5 claimed its too much food for the kids. I ended up asking my cousins and they did not tell the servers anything.
Wine at tables - i liked how we can choose to have the wine on the table or off. i'm glad we chose off or the bill would be even higher. however, as jen k mentioned hers was not around to serve...so wonder where they went? prob in the kitchen eating the extra meals....
Floor Manager: We did not know who our venue liason was until the day of the wedding. I know they randomly assign tasks to their staff due to fairness/union crap.
Our upgraded Suite: clean... comfortable...alright. But I have experienced better at the suites of One King West downtown. In comparison, Hilton Suites seemed a tad dated.
The Hilton is beautiful and that is about it -

I didn't stay at Hilton Suites Hotel overnight... I was here for a wedding banquet and the experience was excellent.
The cocktail reception before the actual dinner was nicely done. The services was excellent from the bartender to the wait staffs that walk around with plates of food.
The ballroom where the wedding actually held is spacious and the dance floor is huge. The services was though a little lacking as my water was never filled, my wine glass was always empty... I ended up just get a jar of water and bottle of wine and started serving my own table.
Food was quite good for a Chinese banquet style... The waiter at least remember to serve me food.... and he gave me a couple of abalone and almost half a lobster... maybe I just have this angry and hungry look!
Tons of food! Chocolate fountain! Dessert table!

My company's Annual Holiday Party was hosted here so they offered us a discounted rate if we wanted to spend the night. We decided to take up the Hilton on this offer and it turned out to be a pretty great discount!
It was a king bedroom suite and it was much more spacious then I would have expected. We were on the 5th floor. Upon entry of the room is a spacious sitting area with couches, coffee table, long desk along the wall with a flat screen tv above it. Continue to a small hall with the minibar and closet on the right and a bathroom on the left decked out in floor to ceiling grey marble with lots of counter space. Then the bedroom is closed off to the sitting area which I liked with a massive king bed, a floor to ceiling window peering out into the court yard, and another flat screen tv. The room also included lots of storage space for clothing.
The ballroom where the party was located was on a different level above the main enterance with an escalator taking you to the top which was nice for ladies in heels and we were separated from the guests coming in and going. There were lots of tv screens outlining where to go to find our party which was also really helpful. The room was tastefully decorated to suit the holiday season with a christmas and all. Ample clean bathrooms were available on the same level too. The food was an amazing four course dinner. Bar service and late night desserts were also great.
Overall great a time at the hilton with friendly service, clean and spacious rooms with free WiFi and parking for guests.
FYI many dining options in the hotel plus room service as well a gym and spa services. -

I love this hotel. It's convenient to Wonderland, and not a bat commute to the city.
- all suites hotel
- free internet
- fancy updated rooms
- comfy beds
- no free breakfast but Starbucks is nearby
I brought my son along on a recent business trip and they upgraded me to a corner room with a dining area. Great! The rates vary from too expensive to too good to pass up. -
Review from Vivian W.
We went for their restaurant at the lobby, called "Essence of Unionville". The reason I went was because of their 2 for 1 deal in the Entertainment Book. Definitely good deal with the coupon, but probably I wouldn't go there without the coupon. Good portion and meets expectation! It is hard to find decent fine dinning restaurants in that area, I think this is not a bad place compare to other places in the neighbourhood.
We ordered a seared sea bass and a top sirloin steak. The sea bass is huge, normally the serving size is just one slice, their one serving is two full slices of sea bass. Very tendor and juicy, I really liked it, not a lot of places can make such a fish plate. The steak was normal, met expectation. Both plates are around the $25-30 range. I'd recommend the sea bass over the steak. The steak is not bad, as long as you are not going in and expecting to get a quality steak at places that charge to $60-70 a plate. -

This is a review for their Essence of Unionville AfternoonTea.
I came here with my sisters instead of making the trek downtown for brunch.
This is NOT your typical high tea experience if you're used to the Windsor Arms and King Eddy. Instead of pretty tea sets and an extensive tea list to peruse, you get a Tazo tea selection. Yes, the same selection you'd find at Starbucks. Instead of a three tiered set of finger sandwiches, scones and desserts it's a buffet of these goodies. The food itself is pretty good and they also have full sized cakes.
It's $15 so being less than half price than the downtown hotel offerings it's not bad, however personally, I go to high tea for that shi-shi frou-frou experience. Good to try once but wouldn't come back. -

I was out on a project in Markham and the so called snowpocalypse was about to strike GTA. So logic prevailed and instead of braving the snow storm all they way from downtown I decided to stay here. The Rooms are nice as they are suites as the name suggests. Nicely renovated room with LCD (yet no HD feed no surprise as hardly any Hotel shows it that way) They have toiletries from crab tree and everything else is nice. Now for the bad part after a long day of work my colleagues and I decided to unwind and have a drink or two in the pub/bar. Boy do they need to work on the service I don't blame the server for being overwhelmed as she was alone serving almost 40 people. Needless to say we had to wait too long to get our order and she didn't like the idea of us getting a split check (hey we have to submit expenses)
4 Star for the room and 2 star for the par/pub. -
Review from Elaine K.
I recently had my wedding reception here and stayed overnight for two nights.
The room was great, I stayed in a King suite, which had a living room/dining room area and a big bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable, but I was a bit too nervous to sleep.
The pool is great, large with a very large whirlpool. It seemed very clean. Please note, that the whirlpool button is the small green button, NOT the large red button!
The reception was amazing, we had a cocktail reception in the lounge and the dinner in the Markham ballroom. The place was absolutely beautiful, so much that we barely did any decorations (centrepieces, that was it). The food was some of the best wedding food I've ever had, particularly since we had 260 there. We had the prime rib and the roasted chicken. Everyone was happy with the food. I didn't really notice the service, which is a good thing. I hate obtrusive banquet staff. -

2 buildings. I think the bigger suites are in the smaller building. And the numbering is kind of confusing, but once you find your room, it will all make sense. The main building has the typical suites with 1 or 2 beds, and then the annex building has similar rooms, but with a slightly different layout. Are those rooms better? Not really. Beds are always comfy and AC can always be set on high! Enjoy your stay!

So far, so good. The only downsides are that wi-fi is NOT free (it's $15/day) and you have to pay to park unless you upgrade to a king suite. Other than that, the service is really great! Also, the pull-out couch in the living room of my king suite is the most comfortable pull-out bed I have ever laid on. I recommend this hotel for those who have the money.

My stays at this Hilton location are always pleasant. If you're a Hilton Honours member you get a higher floor, and some other convenience options including HH points and offers (check their website and enroll - its free).
The beds are very comfortable, I always book a king or king deluxe suite, which I am always happy with. The service is top notch, it is a HIlton after all.
One time I had some serious billing issues where they billed me for everything in the mini bar (yes, everything). Though we didn't touch the bar, the receptionist couldn't do much but refer my complaint/issue. I spoke to the manager a couple weeks later and had the issue resolved right there on the spot.
This is one of my favourite hotels to stay at, and it is so close to the highway so I recommend all my out of town guests to stay here as well.
Definitely a 4/5 star rating. -

I travel to this area on business fairly frequently and typically I've stayed in another close-by hotel. This last trip they were booked up so I decided to give the Hilton a spin. Wow! This is a really nice hotel and the rates are pretty reasonable. I can't comment on the regular hotel rooms. I stayed in the Suites side and I was really impressed. My one and only beef is that parking was an additional $10/day. I wish they would just roll that into the rate. Other hotels in the area have free parking but they end up charging you for internet access. The Hilton Suites has complimentary internet access. The pool/fitness area for this hotel is also complimentary and it is impressive. They have a reasonable size pool, plenty of cardio and weight equipment (on par with any 24 hr fitness or Gold's Gym location) and a full racquetball/squash facility. I didn't try out the spa but I imagine if the wife was along she'd want to give it a go. I also found the hotel bar to be a nice place to grab some frosty adult beverages while catching a ball game. I guess one other weakness with this hotel is the lack of close-by restaurants. If you don't have a vehicle and plan to be eating at local places you might be better off staying in the places down in Richmond Hill. For me it's now Hilton Suites in Markham all the way.....

It's OK...
The room is clean enough. The beds are a little small (2 dbls). It's not the most comfortable mattress.
The TV in my room was broken. They took off a day's worth of parking (how generous *sarcasm*)... why am I paying to park again?
Other than that, the people who work there are super! Very nice =0) -

Afternoon tea at the Essence of Unionville Restaurant located in the lobby of the Hilton. Excellent value. A buffet style afternoon tea with a selection of sandwiches, scones, fruit and a large variety of tiny cakes. For the price is is excellent value as you serve yourself. Price was $15.00 and at that price, you shouldn't expect it to be as good as Afternoon Tea/High Tea at the Windsor Arms.

Very clean hotel. The room I got resembled a studio apartment. At the entrance of the door was a family room with large LCD tv...then go through a hallway that leads to the bedroom with another large LCD tv. Between the two rooms is a washroom to the side.
I was tired when I checked in, it did the job. Got a cheap rate on the hilton website for $99 a night since I booked 2 weeks in advance with no cancellation option available. -
Review from soon k.
went to hilton suites markham for a business trip. it's conveniently located in markham, and pretty close to highway.
the hotel itself looks quite nice and big. it has a conference center, and very big gym (club markham). parking isn't free though (that's why i give 4 stars, and not 5)
check-in was efficient. i was given a room on the 7th floor. very spacious room, and has all the amenities i need (blow dry, iron board, 2 LCDs TVs, etc)..
did not try the restaurant - so, i can't tell you how it was
highly recommended for your trip.
