We stayed here for a friends wedding at the Frontenac in Quebec City, and we were pleasantly surprised.  We were offered room upgrade if we paid the 20 dollars a night for the executive lounge, and I would have happily paid more, separately, for both.

The corner room we got (816) had a panoramic wrap-around view of all of Old Quebec, along with the gorgeous Parliament building.  I would strongly recommend trying to get a corner room, on that side.. guessing maybe they are all  _16?

We were initially sort of bummed about not staying in old Quebec, but once we saw the view from our room, and just how close we were to Old Quebec, we were ecstatic.  We literally woke up for the gorgeous sunrise every morning, and then went back to sleep.

The executive lounge was fabulous also... your 20 dollars got  you a continental breakfast with what my husband said was really good cappuccino, hors devours in the evening, a wine bar (cash), free wifi(which is 11.95 in your room), amazing view, though we already had one... and the best part of all?  I got to watch the Steeler game on an HDTV with room service delivered, in my own hotel, in another country.  My husband was feeling slightly under the weather, and I didn't want to walk around everywhere looking for a pub that would have an NFL package.

The gym had really nice, high end equipment, and it was great to be able to hang out with my husband in the sauna.

The only thing that wasn't as nice as the Montreal Hilton was the pool.  It was fine, but rather bland.

Every employee we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful, especially the concierge in the Executive Lounge.   If I could get the same room, or one even higher up in the same corner, I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Really nice place. I was surprised by how clean and well-kept it is inside, because the hotel that I had just come from in Montreal (the Westin) was immaculate and set some high expectations that I was not expecting this place to meet. But it did. You walk into a spacious, comfortable lobby, complete with a bar and a convenience store, and any room is only a short elevator trip away. Very nice hotel.

Even better than the building's appearance, though, is its location. You're literally only a few blocks away from the heart of the city; not close enough for there to be a ton of traffic (foot or auto), but not far enough that you need to use your car to get around. We had the valet take our car at check-in and didn't use it once until we checked out. It's in a very convenient spot, which is great for tourists, as there are TONS of places to shop and eat, very close by.

Overall, I really loved this hotel, but there are two things about it that kept me from giving it a perfect five-star rating:

First, the pool. It's accessible, it's warm, and it's clean, but it's way too small! They have this HUGE patio area on the third floor where the pool is located, and it's just open space... I was disappointed, because they HAVE space to put a hot tub, a bar, or even just to make the pool bigger, but they didn't use it. There aren't even chairs, it's literally just cement and a railing around the edge that you can look over.

The second thing is probably the biggest problem, at least in my opinion: NO FREE WI-FI. I mean I know it's not unreasonable for some hotels not to offer it, but most of the bigger chains do. And I mean if it was just that they didn't have wireless internet access, that's one thing, but they DO, and they just don't let you use it in your room. You can either sit in the front lobby on your computer and use free wireless internet that it picks up from there, or you can pay a fee to use a WIRED connection in your room. Again, some people might not care much about this, but for me, this was really irritating.

Overall, though, great hotel. I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a nice place to stay while in Quebec, especially if you're a tourist. Just be sure to pick a comfortable chair in the lobby if you're planning on using the internet at all.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but if you want to find the Hilton's parking lot, you need to make three rights.   I felt like Sisyphus looking for a parking spot (in Greek mythology, Sisyphus had to push a rock up a steep hill and right before he got to the top, it would roll down and he had to repeat this for eternity).  Its an underground labyrinth of never ending cars and exit (Sortie) signs that seem to mockingly point at one another.  After getting out and checking in, the adventure began.

    Pros
    - Amazing view of Parliament, Old City, Citadel, and Winter Carnival
    - Centrally located

    Cons
    - Alarm clock (that I didn't set) went off at 7am on the first morning
    - Hotel's 20th Floor Renovation Construction started at 8:30 (I was on the 21st Flr) on that same morning
    - Piercing sound in shower if temperature goes over 38 degrees C
    - Old outdated furniture with a TV the size of my laptop screen
    - Dirty windows

This hotel--like many Hiltons that all seem to be from the same time era--has a real split personality.

They've "upgraded" some floors on the hotel, but not the top floors.  What's odd about this is the top floors are the executive level floors that they give people with Hilton gold and above status.  So while they give these people nicer views (higher up), their rooms are completely dumpy and straight out of the 70s.  Also, the beds in these rooms are extremely uncomfortable.  Not only have they not upgraded the tacky decor on these floors, they apparently never replace the beds either.

You'll know right away when getting off the elevator if you're on an upgraded floor or still stuck in the 70s.  The renovated floors have more modern looking tile, whereas the non-renovated floors have hideously ugly carpet, random sofas and tables in the elevator waiting area, and really tacky gold square chandeliers.

The first night we arrived we were put in a higher up executive level floor.. it was way underwhelming to say the least.  We asked to be transferred back to a normal room on a lower floor, they were full (it was Carnival weekend) so we had to wait until the next day to switch.  Upon switching we were moved from the 22nd floor to the 7th.

The "upgraded" room had mostly new stuff in it... The bed was MUCH nicer.  They didn't do much to the bathroom except strip out the cabinet doors and paint the cabinet, and they took out the tacky gold lights.  The TV was still the old tube TV.  The view out the 7th floor was essentially the same view but not as grand because you couldn't see as much being lower.  Also, the windows were disgustingly dirty, you could barely see out of it (they couldn't clean their windows before their busiest weekend of the year?)

The Executive lounge on the top floor is nice, it has a great panoramic view.  The newest Fodor's guide book describes them going "all out" on it, I wouldn't go that far.   And oddly, the executive suites on the same floor as the lounge were not even renovated!

Even though we had lounge access (which has a limited brunch buffet), we also had brunch coupons.  They describe it as "cold buffet" ... It was pretty standard continental breakfast plus eggs, bacon, and oatmeal (think Hampton Inn's breakfast).  Not worth $18 or whatever they were charging others for.  The executive lounge had almost the same stuff except they didn't have the hot bacon/eggs stuff.

The hotel has no wifi except in the upstairs executive lounge.  It's not like it would be free though even if they did have it.

The pool.... is one of the more interesting pool experiences I've had.  They don't allow you to wear your bathing suit in the elevators, so they require you to change into it in a really dingy, beat up (think high school P.E.) locker room.  Now the pool... we initially thought there was an indoor whirlpool... we were wrong, it was actually a tiny sliver of indoor pool that leads through plastic flaps to go outside.  Even though it was 20 degrees Fareinheit out, we went for a swim.... As ice pelted our heads we enjoyed a good half hour in the cold.  It's slightly heated but still felt a bit cold unless you were completely submerged.   Overall it was a totally bizarre that's worth partaking in. There's a dry sauna but it's co-ed, crowded, and overall just a bit awkward.

I've been to several Hilton's where they seem to be in the process of a decade long renovation.  It's a slow going process that they use as a crutch to try to defend the poor quality found throughout...   I wouldn't expect the renovation to finish any time soon, they've got enough done that they can use it as an excuse that things will be better, yet I doubt anything will change any time soon....

First class operation.  If you get to use the penthouse Executive lounge, you'll be treated to the absolute best view in all of Quebec, with a 180 degree look at all of old town, the rivers and the Provencial buildings.  EXCELLENT service by the ladies in the lounge too.  The hotel location is perfect for tourists...can walk all of Quebec City easily.  Tip...if you drive and park in the garage, just pay yourself on the way out of the garage instead of through the Hilton and you'll save about $5 per night.

Beautiful hotel with average hotel rooms.

View from the room of the Quebec Parliament & old Quebec were fantastic.

$26 for parking (valet with in & out privileges) was a little expensive, so we parked across the street at a convention center parking garage for $8 a night.

I don't eat at hotel restaurants because (1) they tend to be overpriced and (2) I want to eat with locals as much as possible, so I can't comment on the restaurants.

The location is fantastic -- just outside the walls of the old city -- literally a 2 minute walk to the edge of old Quebec, 10 minutes to the center.  No need to drive into town.  Plenty of restaurants & fast food nearby, too.

I got it on Priceline but I knew from Priceline advice boards like http://www.betterbiddi...) what I was bidding on.  Paid $110 a night for a room that normally costs $180ish.

Well worth it, and I'd stay there again hands down.

I understand they are renovating rooms, so your experience might be better in the future.  Decent hotel, but some things are a little more expensive than need to be.  Valet is overpriced as are the room service options.  The executive lounge has a poorly stocked happy hour buffet (not that I'm grazing instead of eating), but there was nothing other than salami at 615p when I went up.  The view is amazing, but the room should be more mindfully attended.
My room was just so so.  Towels need an update since they were pretty dry and course instead of soft and absorbing.
Well located, but not quite up to what I'd expect from Hilton.

Pros:  The location is good, and the buffet breakfast (included in the family rate package), was very nice.
Cons:  The room was very small, with double beds; a disappointment given that the person who checked us in made a big deal about the free room upgrade we were being given.   (If this was an upgraded room, I would have hated to have experienced the room we had booked (which wasn't that cheap).  The "high speed" internet access was also very slow.

is this the most fab place in town?  well probably not but it is really convenient to the convention center.  after walking around all day - the last thing you need is a trek to the hotel room.

    cons:
    1. i can't say that the doormen are hustling too fast to open the doors for you.
    2. old tv:  one word for the hiltons...plaaaasma.
their tvs are the ones left outside on the streets of san francisco with a paper taped to it that says, "free."

    pros:
    1. good check-in service and speedy express check out
    2. rooms are nice and clean.
side note: the rooms with 2 queens are bigger than the single kings.
    3. jaw dropping view of the city and chateau frontenac

the hotel is like an aging socialite...attractive at first with some glitz and glam and then you start noticing the small cracks and drippy faucet.  seeing that the location is key, the hilton still has a couple of years left before needing an inevitable facelift.

I, my husband, daughter and her friend stayed here years ago and I remembered how nice the hotel was.  It was in close walking distance to the gates of the old city of Quebec. The room we had was very nice and one day my hubby and I planned to walk around the city.  The girls (they were 14 at the time) did not want to go with us so we said they  could stay at the hotel and watch tv.  They ordered room service. They got chicken nuggets and french fries and raved about it (lol)
