The location was slightly outside the downtown core. However this was a plus. You could easily walk to the St Lawrence Market, Yonge St, and the Church Wellesley area from the hotel. Across the street is a Smokes Poutinerie (ok tasting...not the best poutine I've had). However based on the Yelp reviews the poutinerie is the place to be if you want some hot potato goodness while you are drunk. Also across the street is a large strip club if you want to see some tatas and then eat some taters.
The hotel lobby is quaint. The rooms are nice and comfortable without being over the top frilly or expensive. Wi fi was free and parking is available for $35 or $20 (special) a night. The weird thing was the cable tv package in the room had a local Buffalo news station. It was nice to have a small fridge in the room to stash leftovers and my breakfast usual (almond milk). -

This hotel has one of the best beds I have ever slept in, in a hotel that is. When I left this hotel I went on a mission to try and duplicate the bedding. I've gotten close but I need a job, no really I do, and they need to send me back here so I can sleep in the bed one more time and make sure I'm not missing anything in my set-up at home.
The hotel was very clean - the rooms was so comfortable. I did have an interesting experience that really isn't the hotels fault but rather entertaining. I was traveling alone to visit a client onsite. After drinking in the bar I was really craving a smoke and bummed one off a patron.
As I stood in front of the hotel taking a few puffs, a man with a cane walk up rather quick, pulled my 3/4 smoked cigarette out of my mouth, and started hobbling off as quick as he could. A hotel associate happened to be close by and asked, "Do you want me to go get that back?", I responded, "no, when I go back to the states I can tell my friends and family my butt was stolen in Toronto."
Other than losing my butt the experience at the hotel was good and I await the day that I can sleep in that bed again. -

Staying outside of the real downtown allows you to save a bundle, and the renovations that have obviously been done to this hotel are fantastic. Nice rooms (a little cozy, but well appointed) and friendly staff made for a good stay, and for being substantially cheaper than the HGI on Peter Street or the Hilton Toronto which is usual preference in Toronto, it was not bad at all. Everyone hates the $30 parking charge, but that's de rigeur for Toronto hotels. Park in a city lot if you want to save a few bucks.
The hotel's a short walk from the Dundas subway station which gets you anywhere pretty quick. -

The hotel is located in Toronto's enterntainment district, close to the King/Peter Street intersection. It is close to other hotels such as the Hyatt Toronto Regency (former Holiday Inn on King) and the SoHo Metropolitan. It is within walking distance of theatres, Rogers Centre/Skydome, Convention centre.
Check-in was quick as the hotel did not look very busy during my stay.
The room has a microwave and a small fridge, a "large" LCD HDTV, workdesk, high-speed internet.
The bathroom featured the standard features. No bathtub but a roomy stand-in shower. -

Very nice at not so bad a price.
This was such a nice experience. The lobby is quite beautiful and what a nice surprise to walk into such a nice lobby when I expect much less. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Accomodations are well worth everything. The room was a double bed and plenty of space to move around. They had a microwave which was such a big plus since I'll be here for an entire week for a convention. Flat screen tv and cable. The bathroom was also spacious and nice. They offer Neutrogena products. Everything is so clean.
Also, they offer a shuttle to the convention center but also, I walked there every morning in about 30 minutes. It was a safe and pleasant walk.
I was quite pleased. -

My boyfriend and I stayed here this weekend while in town for a friend's wedding. There were a few very good things about the hotel, namely the free wireless internet, which worked great, and the fact that they let us check in very early (before 9 am). We really appreciated this, since we were coming in off a red-eye. There are also free cookies in the lobby in the afternoons, which is nice.
However, there were a number of other things about the hotel that made us very unhappy. The biggest problem was there there were extremely loud drunk people in a room nearby ours for several hours on Saturday night, and despite repeated calls to the front desk, nothing was done about them until after 3:30 AM. I had to wake up before 9 AM to go to the wedding, and ended up having bags under my eyes in photos and being very cranky due to lack of sleep. When I called security they kept apologizing but didn't actually DO anything (at least not until more than 5 calls by me and other people). At one point when I asked why they couldn't kick the people out, they told me "Sorry, we just got a taxi load full of drunk people." Huh? What does this have to do with their ability to kick people out? And why would you even let people who are obviously intoxicated & rowdy check-in in the first place? Every hotel has to deal with this type of situation, but they didn't seem to deal with it very well.
Other things that were less of a big deal but were still very annoying:
1) the thermostat in our room was really weird and was running the heat or AC at all times. If it was on 75 and the heat was running, we would turn it down to 74 and the AC would immediately start running. We constantly alternated between hot and cold and woke up in the middle of the night covered in sweat & freezing cold. It was a very bad system.
2) TripAdvisor reviews indicated that free breakfasts were available to AAA members, but we couldn't get that promotion because we booked through Expedia, which sort of sucked. We had the breakfast anyway though, since it was a good deal ($13 full buffet), and it was very good.
3) The neighborhood is a bit dodgy. It's centrally located (only about 5 blocks from Dundas Sq) but the area isn't great, and I wouldn't have wanted to be out walking at night.Listed in: Hotel Motel Holiday Inn

Ah, it seems this is now a Hilton Garden Suites. This means it is maybe a little nicer and definitely a litle bit more expensive.

Great hotel, very different from other HGI. The rooms are nice and the staff is friendly but parking is $30.00 pet night and that SUCKS!!
