We needed a new place or should I say we wanted a new place to try for breakfast. Discovered the Hilltop and I'm glad we did. The food was great, nice portion sizes neither of us left food on the plate. The hollandaise sauce was one of the best I've had. Service was quick and accomodating. We'll be going back.

Burger, fries, and coffee $15 with tip. A teeeny bit steeper price than you'd expect for a slightly rubby (but with character) roadside diner in Aldergrove. However this is unquestionably the closest I've ever had to homemade in a restaurant burger. You can tell all the patties are handmade daily. Topped with a significant amount of grilled onions (my fave) made this burg one for the books. As mentioned in Marc D's review, the awesome service continues; the matronly waitress greets you with a coffee pot at your table- love that! Why don't servers do that more often? Shows great service and gives a chance for the resto to juice the bill up. Most people will take the offer of a coffee if it's right there, then still order something different to drink with their meal!

* Kickass diner *
Classic diner food well which is well executed is so comforting. Hilltop provides exactly that.
They seem to make everything in house, serve it in generous portions, and do so with a smile.
When we walked in we were immediately greeted with, "Coffee?" A promising start for a good diner. The table was the requisite plastic tablecloth with metal chairs. It had a jelly rack with a few flavours, a bowl of half and half, and a napkin dispenser. Signs were pointing to classic diner all the way.
The menu was a variety of typical diner food including a wide variety of burgers, chili, soups, roast beef, roasted turkey, open face sandwiches, etc.
I ordered one of my diner favourites - the roasted turkey club. This was a large sandwich. Instead of being cut into quarters like it traditionally is, they cut it in larger halves. The bread was thick sliced (although the bread was the weakest part being a good supermarket quality), and it was filled with freshly roasted turkey which was served in big perfectly moist chunks. The bacon was a thick cut, tomato was very ripe and thickly cut, and there was a slice of cheddar. Delicious and very filling sandwich. Photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...
I also got to have a bite of the roasted turkey sandwich which had the same delicious turkey, a bit more tomato, some lettuce, and some housemade cranberry marmalade which had a nice bitterness to it. Photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...
The sandwiches both came with a side of thin fries which tasted freshly cut and quickly fried without being overly greasy. They were also not overly salty. They reminded me of the taste of the fries at In-n-Out down in the States. Very good: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...
Couldn't resist a classic diner dessert of banana cream pie. This was a nice treat, which they cover with fresh whipped cream and freshly sliced bananas after ordering. There was a layer of pre-sliced bananas under a rich custard as well. The crust was standard fare. But overall it made a nice end to a nice classic meal. Photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz...

Breakfast as it should be served on a Sunday morning.
Hilltop hops whenever it is open, and I think that is breakfast & lunch only. Their meals are the proper authentic diner experience, big, yummy and a cure for any lost battle with the spirits the night before.
It is a busy little building on Fraser Highway. You can see it for yourself in the "waitress after work" scene in the movie "Butterfly Effect" (OK I know I was the only person to ever watch that movie).
Come out to the Valley on a weekend morning, get off at 200th street from HWY 1, get on Fraser Highway stop at Ralph's market for fresh farm produce, then keep on truckin' to 240th street and have a MONDO-EGG and whatever breakfast. See ya there! -
