Review from Louise G.
Small shop with an excellent selection of international music, folk and country. Tho owners' definitely have a jones for their music and keep a good selection of "legacy" stuff along with the recent titles.
An added bonus is the vinyl and used CDs they have; lots of hard-to-find things that have disappeared from the catelogs.
Always worth the visit - just make sure you give yourself a budget when you walk through the door.
Definitely not for too-cool-to-be-schooled hipsters; no "Li'l Wayne" in the racks.Listed in: There and Back Again

Their large selection and friendly staff make this a great place to browser for new or old music to round out your collection.
The workers here are all heavily into music so unlike some other places you can certainly talk music with them and get great recommendations on new acts that you may like.
They're also commonly selling tickets for a lot of the hottest indie acts in town. -

I really really really hope this place stays around. There should be 3 or 4 of this kind on every main street, but alas, there are not.. Believe it or not there are still some people out there who like to peruse record shops, killing afternoons and taking home treasures worth hours upon hours of listening.. AND, where else are you going to find those tickets to cheap shows at small venues??? Hmmm... not everyone's a pirate...

Music stores are a dying breed since most people buy their tunes online these days. Fortunately, Highlife is alive and kicking. A lot of stores that sell CDs have everything but the kitchen sink in their bins, which makes it hard to weed through all the noise. Highlife has a well edited supply of CDs making it easy to discover some great artists. They also have some used CDs for sale. Shopping at Highlife reminds me of being in a cute little indy bookstore where the books are displayed in such a way that you just want to browse for hours.

Nice shop with a friendly staff but hardly any vintage records.
