Review from James E.
Came here for two nights on our way through town. This was a great hostel. The rooms and beds were very clean. You could totally tell that they've poured some cash into sprucing this place up a bit. I thought the central location of this place was outstanding, it was great to be able to walk everywhere. I also really liked how there was a pub right in the same building. It was a great option when you just wanted to grab a pint while checking the internet. The cafe was closed and being renovated when we were there, but I have a feeling it'll be nice when it re-opens. The staff was friendly and helpful.
A great hostel.
PS - not sure when the edit on the business I put in will change, but if Yelp hasn't changed the name of this business when you read it - you can google "HI-Downtowner Hostel" and find it. The Motor Hotel must have been the hotel that HI took over. -

Sadly, I didn't have a great experience here! :'(
The room was freezing. I mean FREEZING. The provided blanket was paper thin. Seriously, the icy-cold temperature in here was enough to make me have a terrible time!
Free parking is cool, but since the hostel is downtown and there are many seedy people about, there are tons of break ins....making the free parking basically meaningless as we couldn't use it. (we're road tripping and removing "all" valuables from the car is basically impossible). At least the people there warned us. We parked a couple of blocks away for $9/night.
The guy at the front desk was unfriendly...to be fair, the girl who was there in the morning was totally cool, though.
