I was recently at a friend's wedding, which was catered by Herrera's. I was actually quite impressed with the food. Wedding food can often be a bland, dry affair, but the beef and chicken meals (the Hubster and I ordered one of each and split them) were both flavourful and moist, no small feat for an event space with no kitchen.
The food was great, but the execution was a little lacking. They seemed to have a bit of a problem with my dairy allergy. Though they knew about it in advance, the dairy-free dishes would usually come after everyone else at the table finished their course, and in one case, not at all (the pasta course). No explanation, no substitution. Just me, staring at everyone's food and loading up on wine. Also the servers had to ask what each of us ordered (beef or chicken), which was kind of a problem, since none of us remembered which box we checked off 3 months ago. The family-style salad came about 15 minutes before the main, with no plates. After a while, we confused and hungry diners ended up eating it on our tiny bread plates.
The service was polite and professional. Really, timing seemed to be the only issue.
I would recommend them to others, as the food was very tasty, though they will need to tighten up their timing and process with substitutions.Listed in: Yelp 30-Day Challenge
