Helcim helped us out when we started a company to run a conference here in Calgary. (Over at http://semcanada.org/)
Nic was amazing to work with, he walked us through the sign up process for our merchant account, and even helped us integrate it right into our site (when we ran into a few problems).
We ended up having to cancel the conference, and canceling their service was a breeze.
Now I'm using their Virtual Terminal for my small business (http://mrare.ca) and it is great for processing simple transactions.

Helcim has essentially met my needs, though I do find it a bit cumbersome to use. I've not successfully been able to redesign forms to my liking.
I found it reliable for my small practice, and the money is usually deposited in my bank account within twelve hours. I appreciated the repeated help Nic gave me getting started.
I wish there were a way to create stored client profiles for repeated use so I don't have to enter every bit of information for each sale. I also find the Monthly Billing Statement from Elavon to be rather obscure and far beyond my knowledge base. -

Their payment gateway and virtual terminal both work great, but it's their service which sets Helcim apart. Whenever we've needed to call for help we've always spoken with a real person who knows what they're talking about (not a help desk) and they've often just gone ahead and fixed any problems for us on the spot, including fixing problems on our site. I can't say enough about how good their service is. It's simply outstanding.
