I had a pleasant experience at Heidi's Café. It's a great casual place to dine! Both the décor and menu appeared to be simple, but in the best possible way. I ordered the "Veggies and Cheese" sandwich and didn't expect it to be anything out of the ordinary, judging by its simple name. But, I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The veggies were so fresh!! The sandwich was so simple, yet so good. And the yam fries, served with a simple garlic sauce, were the best yam fries I've ever tried!

Overall verdict: good prices, good food.

Love the friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. Okay, so they don't have gluten free, vegan or lactose free options but they are sure accommodating.

Their grilled garden burger is simply delicious with nicely grilled zucchini, onions, red peppers on a perfectly toasted bun. I am also falling in love with the side salad that consists of lettuce, tomatoes, olives, red onion and pineapple. Who knew something so simple could be so good. The clubhouse is pretty solid as well with a good serving of chicken and nice solid slices of thicker than usual bread.

Heidi, your cafe is great. I love your staff for calling us by our first names and the freshly cut flowers on each table. Such a nice touch!

great food, ambience, & free wifi, sure!

Ordered the tuna melt; initial thought on the smaller side, but the freshness made up for it.  Instead of those diner-like slices of bread, a nice warm baguette--nice touch.  used the nice cheddar cheese too, tomato & lettuce.

choice of fries or salad, of course went for the side dressing on the side, to save my waistline.  great portion: even pineapples & olives thrown in too.  All for $8.45

Absolutely freaking wonderful experience.  The staff is chipper, polite, and downright fun, the combos are a perfect breakfast, and the pancakes are insanely good.  If it feels like I'm raving, it's because I am... Going here made my day.

Can't believe there isn't a line down the block.

For what it is, it's fantastic!  A quaint, clean little coffee, diner type place.  Order & pay at the counter then they will bring it out to you.  Friendly, helpful staff.  I agree with Matthew P about the refills, they should include at least one.  We paid about $24 for 2 breakfasts with one coffee each.  Really enjoyed breakfast - loved the Eggs Florentine and hashbrowns.  Probably the best Hollandaise I've had, it was light and flavourful not heavy like it can sometimes be.  Lots of free parking on the street on the weekend.

Based soley on Yelp reviews i decided to try out this place for brunch. I biked up Fraser to the top of the hill to find this non descript cafe on a block full of other ethnic treats.
You order at the counter and then have a seat. The gentlemen taking my order was super friendly and made sure i got a table as the place was full.
I went for the Eggs Florentine, a weekend only specialty. I asked for my eggs over hard because i hate them uber runny, and when he put the order into the kitchen he didn't relay that to them. So when they came runny i wasn't shocked. It was still good but bordering on returnable only because of the runniness. Hashbrowns that look like store bough tasted like fresh, so i am not sure.
Alot of people were eating pancakes.. maybe next time.

I don't know who Heidi is, but I like her already. I was super excited to try this cafe because: 1) the reviews were fantastic, 2) it's close to my place of residence (East Van represent!), 3) it brings together my boyfriend's love of greasy breakfast fare with my love for unique, hidden gems serving up great food.

Upon entering, I was struck by how out of place this cafe seemed in this particular neighbourhood (i.e. it's decidedly less "ethnic" than many other businesses in the area). It's clean and cozy, and was buzzing with customers when we arrived on a late Saturday morning. They were advertising brunch specials in additional to their regular menu, and I couldn't resist the lure of the delicious sounding eggs florentine. My boyfriend went with the classic breakfast, and we ordered a coffee and a tea to round out our meals.

Service was very friendly and the food, though a touch slow to come out, was great. Both of our meals were pleasingly presented, well-portioned, and hot and fresh. The hash browns were some of the best I've eaten, which was a pleasant surprise given the propensity of poorly cooked potatoes found at similar establishments. I can't wait to return to try that veggie sandwich. I can see this becoming a regular haunt.

I hate to do it,  I really do.  I've been coming here for about 4 months now and the food is always great.  One of the main reasons why like this place so much was because of the prices,  especially their breakfast menu.  Classic breakfast started at 4.75 and the jumbo was 6.75 or something close to that.  Their coffee is over priced for what it is.  I understand it's fair trade coffee and all but cmon...  Really, do you need charge for refills?  Since the meals were priced right I tended to look the other way and pay for the refills.

Recently,  as of June 15th their prices have gone up,  the classic breakfast is now $6.75 and the jumbo is now $8.75 with the price of coffee remaining the same.  So breakfast for 2 now is over 20 something there where as before is was about $12.00... Perfect for a quick and simple breakfast.  It's breakfast, and it's no frills and thrills, just good-ol breakfast.

I would be ok with new prices if the lowered the prices of their basic black coffee and offered free refills.  Another option would be to offer a plain dark with cream and unlimited refills.  Either way , their stock went down in my book.  I hope they read the review and make some changes.  Being a business owner myself, I know about rising cost, but there might have been a better way of raising the prices.  Perhaps leave something like the classic at the same price point, leave out one link of sausage or bacon and have all the other items raised.  I would have been ok with that too.  But, its not my place make these changes.

I've been a regular costumer of  Heidi's Cafe since it opend on Aug 1, 2009. I love the fact that they serve fresh made food. They breakfasts are very affordable and non-greasy. Their hashbrowns are crisp and tasty potato morsels and not the typical tatseless , greasy mush some other places serve. Their pancakes are huge and fluffly. Their calamri is perfectly crisp on the outside and melt in your mouth inside. It goes well with their own in house made tzatziki sauce.

Their pasta dishes and yam fries are great and you get bang for your buck because they have good portions. I have tried their baked goods and I love their white chocolate cranberry scones.

It's a diner but they serve fresh, quality food. It's a nice change from all the fast foods in the area.

Heidi's has an awesome selection of sandwiches, but after much sampling, it's the chicken pesto burger I've settled on. I've been ordering it every day for the past month or so and I'm still not tired of it. The house salad is a light, refreshing side (with a pineapple twist). The service is always prompt, friendly and personable. I also really like their mint iced teas and blended coffee drinks. Their home cut fries and yam fries are also delicious. I'm not a breakfast person but my work colleagues swear by the big hearty portions they serve. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're in the Fraser area.

Please come back, Heidi's!  Our family has been going to Heidi's regularly for about a year.  We loved that we could walk to this local diner which used to feature excellent food served by cheerful, attentive staff.  But a couple of months ago, things started going bad.  The first time, we figured it was an off day and cut them some slack when the cook sent out virtually raw eggs Florentine (which he did re-make when asked).  The next time, despite the place being virtually empty (no pressure) every item on the breakfast plate was close to inedible AND they got the order wrong.  Hope they get the message, because it would be a shame to lose what used to be a gem on Fraser.

Way too dope - came here for lunch once and ordered their Vegetarian Sandwich combo. Just ridiculously good. I don't remember what was in the sandwich, but it was delicious. Fresh, thick bread buttered up and stuffed to the brim with vegetables, served with thick freshly cut fries. Just what you'd expect and ask for from a casual diner.

This place totally rules! A hidden little gem to say the least. Fresh and tasty food I love their home made soup of the day, perfectly poached eggs and everything in between. It's a family owned restaurant and the entire kitchen staff greets and sends off customers with a warm thank you as they walk out the door. Super nice, hip and friendly servers who know what their doing, loose leaf tea and I'm addicted to their tuna melt. By far my favorite cafe in the entire city.

Small, friendly family run cafe with great food.   On our first visit the owner was chatting with other patrons, remembering their names and what they liked to order.  I thought wow those must be pretty regular customers.  But on my 2nd visit she remembered me, and while I had come alone, she asked about my husband and my son.  She also remembered I liked whipped cream on my decaf mocha.   I've gone to some cafes for years and not had such great regular customer service.

The food is pretty basic cafe food. But they seem to use a lot of fresh (non pre-fab) ingredients. Their burgers are made with home made patties.  And their sandwiches with a nice thick whole wheat bread.

And my very fussy coffee husband really loves the attention they give to their Americano.

We'll likely make this our regular Saturday morning breakfast spot.

Great little cafe.  Friendly, family run place that deserves your support.  Quality ingredients and tasty food.  Big thumbs up for the organic coffee and nice selection of loose leaf tea.  Food portions are generous, well presented and will leave you quite full.  There's even a mini corner store in the cafe, so you can buy cigarettes and lottery tickets after your meal.  It is a small cafe and it fills up very quickly in the morning.  Nice little gem in this neighborhood.

Based on some of the reviews I read about this place, my girlfriend and I decided to give it a try this past weekend. I have to say, if there were more than 5 stars to give, then we would give them. I ordered the big breakfast combo and was treated to amazing eggs that were light, fluffy and nice and hot. The hashbrowns were fantastic and perfectly cooked chunks of potato that was nicely seasoned, not the greasy mushy shredded grub that most other establishments serve. The bacon was nice and crispy, and the sausages were perfectly cooked (they cut them lengthwise down the middle and cook them all the way through which is awesome). The highlight of this amazing breakfast however had to be the pancakes. They were the BEST pancakes I've ever eaten. I'm not sure how they did it, but they managed to make them crispy and fluffy at the same time. They had amazing flavor and were seriously addicting. My girlfriend had the club sandwich and had nothing but good things to say about it too. I will be coming back for sure!
