Great concept for headphone purchasing... the ability to listen to the phones before you buy (and with your own music if you bring in your player)! Sounds like a simple concept, but most stores only have limited models set up for listening, and then sometimes only to select music types.. and sometimes, nothing but packaged units ready to buy, and not a single unit to try. Granted a lot of places have a 14-30 day return policy.... sometimes for store credit, but really... I'd like to get a personal try before I buy.... and this is where Headphone Bar comes in.
Owner was helpful and not pushy at all (I hate pushy sales people)... he also didn't have a problem with me trying two different sets of earphones with and without an amp for upwards of about 30-45 min of listening. I decided on a pair of Phonak earphones w/ mic attached and a headphone amplifier (it really does make a difference on some headphones)... If and when I'm looking for a pair of over the ear headphones... I'd definitely head back!
Don't settle for what your local big box store, or pharmacy/electronics dealer has... give this place a shot, and try out some headphones made by headphone companies... you'll be glad you did! -

i would love to write a glowing review for this place - I'm a huge audiophile and good headphones are very important to me .. but alas - I've hit this place up three times and each time there's been a sign on the door that says ' back in 5 ' .. so I wait around for a bit then leave with no headphones. Call first - or just give up on the hip headphone shop and go to Long and McQuade like I did .
update - decided to give these guys another try ( fourth attempt to go buy something here ) as I still want to take a look at what they have to offer ... and guess what .. another sign saying they wold be open late. wow. four strikes in a row.
if you really want to frustrate someone - recommend this place to them... -

Stumbled across your store the other day and thought I would check it out. I have a drawer full of crappy headphones (earbud style) and I was fed up, your store got me hopeful about headphones again.
I dont particularly like the in-ear style of so many earbuds and have found the wrap around style never blast the sound straight into my skull, I also like to use my headphones for my android phone, that meant a mic would be nice too.
You introduced me to the urbanears "medis" and my life changed instantly, they fit my ear perfectly, the sound was great, the style was even neat and it had a built in mic as well as a small button to answer calls right on the cord.
I am overf***ingjoyed to have found your store and I plan on pointing it out to anyone looking for good headphones. I know how hard the search for the right headphones can be and your store solved my problem without much effort.
My ears thank you. -

Owner is very knowledgable and friendly. He's not pushy and can help you wether your looking for good budget headphone under $100 or looking to spend more.
He has a good selection of in ear headphones that you can try on which he cleans beforehand. Most places dont let you do this.
Beats the big box stores any day! -

I have purchased a couple of headphones and a sweet little USB DAC/headphone amp from the Headphone Bar in the past few months. I cannot recommend Travis and his shop enough. If you are even considering new headphones (and you probably should), this shop is a must. All levels of earphones and headphones are carried here, from basic portables/in-ears to higher end Grado, Sennheiser and AKG. Some small design oriented lines as well like the sweet AiAiAi from Denmark.
Ever get frustrated when you go into a big box store looking for some replacement headphones and the only thing you can base your purchase on is the info on the box? See, at the Headphone Bar, you are highly encouraged to try every pair on to demo for yourself. If you have your own source, you can just plug the cans in and listen away. If not, you can use one of the shop's ipods.
Recommended without any reservation. I will be buying all of my headphones from the Headphone Bar from now on.
