Be careful walking into The Hatley Store: their original brand of cute is seriously hard to resist. The adorable 100% cotton designs found in the small, but welcoming boutique on Yonge (a little ways North of Eglinton) are primarily geared towards bedtime, but it's hard not to miss the rain gear which you'll also find yourself wishing came in your size. Oh, wait  - it does! Careful, like I said, slippery slope. Clothing ranges from 3 months to seven years with tons of animal patterns your kids will love - and is even available in matching adult/child sleeper sets.

Nanny Erin met with store manager Carmen on her visit. Carmen was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the Hatley brand, taking the time to explain that there's a special benefit to the weave of Hatley's clothing: it's not fire retardant.

    What?

Well, it seems that Hatley has taken special care to eliminate the chemical content usually found in fire retardant clothing. Hatley's clothing is sewn with a snug fit so that it falls under fire safety guidelines - keeping Hatley's fibers all-natural.

The Hatley Store on Yonge is open 10 - 6 Monday to Saturday and 12 -5 on Sundays. You can also order direct from the Hatley website at http://www.hatleystore...

I love kids cloths - the itsy bitsy teeny tiny sizes and the adorable prints, and until recently I simply admired them from a distance.  Occasionally when I came back to Canada to visit, friends would send me with lists of clothing to picking up here and bring back to them. But I never really had reason to purchase these pint sized items. But with a niece and another on the way I'm in full aunty mode.

Although I find kids clothing expensive in general given the size of the clothing and how quickly it gets outgrown (not to mention dirty) Hatley's pricing is quite reasonable, especially if it's on sale - then if you can think far enough in advanced (or don't mind having last seasons prints) there are some fantastic bargains to be had.

I just picked up the most adorable raincoat for my niece (on sale of course) and am putting it in the mail tomorrow!

Sometimes children's clothing is so cute the child itself is besides the point.  I think this is the case for Hatley and let's face it, taboo as this may sound, some children need a little help -- they can't all be Shiloh Jolie-Pitt.

Don't get me wrong, Hatley is not just for the cherubically challenged child, the clothes are adorable for all kids.  Hatley's cotton design -- available in onesies, sleepers, two-piece outfits etc. -- usually feature colourful and cartoony wildlife (moose, ducks, horses etc.) and sometimes fun little surprises like aliens.

If you are a parent who envies your child for cruising around all day in a stroller while you push him/her up-hill sweating in your undersized denim, then you are in luck, Hatley sells adult PJ's as well.  I even have a pair.  If you've seen a wacky girl ambling about town with froggies on her behind, and a pen and paper in hand, then you've spotted me -- at my happiest I might add.
