In Point Grey there lies a local secret. A curious little museum and souvenir shop tucked away in a residential area at Pioneer Park. This building was one of few surviving structures in the Vancouver fire of 1886. It was a store at the time and became the sole provider of food for the victims of the fire.

The park itself is a great place to bring tourists who want to photograph breathtaking views of the water and mountains on the north shore.
If you're lucky enough to find the museum opened, you must take some time to explore it as there is much history to be uncovered. Volunteers who run the museum have a keen interest in sharing their knowledge on historical Vancouver.

Chock full of amazing artifacts like furniture, clothing and native artifacts from early Vancouver, this building which began as a mill and then a store was rescued by the Native Daughters of British Columbia and floated down on a barge to this location in 1930.

This museum really peeked my curiosity and I hope to return soon to explore it farther. You should allot at least an hour of time to really view these interesting items, photographs and read early news articles, etc.
