Coppell, TX
this place has the best LARGEST breakfast burritos!!! I can't find a good breakfast burrito in the whole TO/Agoura area and this place has them.
Place definitely needs a decor update. Pretty old inside and probably years ago when smoking was legal inside I am sure ppl smoked here.
If you can get past the dingy inside the food will make you happy! -

Great place reccomended to me from a friend.
.Really Clean on the inside which with some diners you do not get.
The eggs and ham I ordered where great and the hash browns where PERFECT, crunchy on the outside cooked in butter but light on the inside!
The omelette plates are huge so share if you can. However they do not mix the omeltte ingrediants in the eggs, they put them on the plate and the place the very fluffy omlette on top, not a problem for me but my wife likes it all incorporated in the eggs.
A great place with great food, good coffee, and a friendly staff. We will be back next time we come through T.O. -

I tried Harold's for the first time this past weekend based on the strength of the reviews. I don't have much to add, just a couple comments.
Speaking about the omelettes, reviewer Linda A said "eggs are whipped into a large puff which sits atop your choice of veggies and/or meats". This threw off my BF, he likes the usual omelette where everything is mixed together.
Based on the strength of Paul V's review, I ordered the Kiko Burrito add extra crispy hash browns. It was yummy and so big I took about 1/3 of it home for dessert.
I love love love local breakfast joints so I desperately wanted to love love love Harold's. I think I probably will eventually, but I need to eat here a few more times before deciding.
Thanks, Yelpers, for the recommendation! -

Harold's House of Omelettes is a great family friendly restaurant. Most people think it is just omelettes these people are wrong. They have a large menu with lots of food and even have taco nights and buger night and more!

You gotta love this place. It's been around forever. Inexpensive. Large amounts of good food. Homemade salsa! And theme nights -- Taco bar night! Hamburger night! Too many of our local, independently-owned places are disappearing! Support Harolds and eat there tonight.

Review from Micah A.
I have mixed thoughts on this place. On the one hand, soap is the greatest invention in history, but on the other hand, the Snuggie is just a robe backwards. Those are two mixed thoughts.
Harold's is an interesting place. I'll review it in fake bullet points shaped like hearts. (Edit: No I won't, because Yelp doesn't allow little heart symbols. What do you have against love, Yelp?):
Alt-3 - Huevos Rancheros - Not bad! The salsa was not the best and the egg was a little hard in between the tortillas. The latter was my fault though. She asked me how I'd like my eggs (hard/soft/scrambled) and I said "Whatever you think is best" and she went with hard. But the flavor was still fine. They could stand to upgrade the green salsa though.
Alt-3 - Jalapeno Fries - Doesn't that sound amazing? Well it wasn't! But again, this was a mixed bag. I assumed these would be something more nifty. Instead they were french fries with a little bit of cheese on them and pickled jalapeno slices literally dumped on the top. Literally. They weren't mixed in or anything. French fries don't hold onto jalapenos so they just fell off whenever I picked up the fry. Had to eat it with a fork to get them mixed together. But still, not a bad combination of ingredients at all. That's mostly because jalapenos are delicious but hey - go with what works.
Alt-3 - Toast - Ehhhhhhhhhhh.
The menu is deep too. There must be a hundred items or more. The price is hit and miss. Some things are way too expensive, but others are much more tolerably priced.
Overall I don't know what to think. Most everything tasted fine, but it all could be better. They get a bonus star for the long menu though, since I'm positive everyone can find at least one thing they like. -
Review from Paul V.
TL;DR: Harold's "Kiko" Breakfast Burrito is the best I've had in the area by a long shot, but at $15.17 with a side, tax and tip, it's also the most expensive.
Alas, my quest for the best Breakfast Burrito in the area continues, this time with a trip to Harold's House of Omelettes. Where so many others had disappointed, I was hoping that Harold's would finally be able to satisfy my craving for a quality breakfast burrito.
Star 1 - How was the service and atmosphere?
At 10:00 on a Friday morning, I was shocked to see that Harold's was absolutely packed, and the vibrant Diner atmosphere immediately sent my expectations thru the roof. Complimented by a wonderful staff of kind knowledgeably and timely servers, the overall vibe at Harold's was unlike any I'd seen in the "bubble" that is Agoura/Westlake/Oaks, and more closely resembled the classic Chicago/New York diners. Overall, I was very impressed. Star Granted.
Star 2 - How were the portions relative to the cost?
And with that... it all came crashing down. As good as the food may be (and as you'll see, my breakfast burrito was absolutely sensational), when it comes to it, Harold's is your classic greasy spoon diner. That being the case, I was truly blown away at the end of the day when my Breakfast Burrito and Hash Browns totaled $15.17 after tax and tip. Damn. Don't get me wrong, Harold's menu is brilliant, their food brilliant, and my entire experience was brilliant; but when you're paying $15.17 at a Diner... that's just too much. No Star Granted.
http://www.yelp.com/us...
Stars 3/4 - How was the food?
While expensive, I truly did finally find the best Breakfast Burrito in the area. My "Kiko" Breakfast Burrito, stuffed with ham, sausage, bacon, cheese, eggs, potatoes, and crispy hash browns (extra) was absolutely brilliant, and came with some fantastic green salsa that was the absolute cherry on a marvelous breakfasty cake. Weighing in at what must have been 500g, I savored every minute of it, and besides the cost, my only regret was that I didn't have the time, money or stomach size to sample one of the countless other items on Harold's Mexican-inspired menu. Dual Stars Granted.
Star 5 - Would you eat it every day if you could?
If I could afford it (in both a financial sense and a health sense), I would without a doubt eat at Harold's every day, and based on the name recognition between the servers and customers, I'd imagine there are plenty of locals who do just that. While a greasy-spoon Diner at heart, Harold's dishes up absolutely brilliant, guilt-inducing dishes, and if their prices were a bit more reasonable, I'd say this was one of my Top 3 dining locations in the area. Star Granted. -

I've been going here for many, many years but I do not go often. There is just a craving that comes every once in a while for some old-school diner food and only Harold's will do. It's funny, I always get the same thing but I cannot remember the name of the omelette (I think maybe it is the cheeseburger omelette -- anyway, it has ground beef under a huge whipped egg disk with cheese sauce, tomato and green onion on top). I have loved that cheese sauce since childhood. I get the hash browns extra crispy and a hotcake on the side. Yes, too much food for one person, so I always go with my friend whom I've known since we were 12 years old (which is why it doesn't matter that I don't know the name of the omelette, she always does, and we always laugh about how I can't remember!). When not with me, she goes there for the Mexican food, so it must be good.
Worth noting: I usually hate big fat pancakes but the hotcakes (as they call them) at Harold's are so flavorful and delicious I love them. We never use syrup because they are plenty sweet alone. -

BEST HAMBURGER in Thousand Oaks........ none even close, juicy flavorful, lot's of rabbit food, fresh buns - good amount of fries - OK - $10 ten bux......but worth it!
Omlettes - had the cheeseburger, and taco omlettes - OUTSTANDING!!! You probably can't finish one - that's OK. I got the burger patty and eggs last time - excellent as well, got dry rye toast and made a mini burger to eat with the eggs and hashbrowns............really good! Their salsa is heated and very good to put on your eggs or omlette - this place is about a 4.5 stars (surroundings are a little "old" feeling, and it needs good background music) OWOK!!! Maybe an occasional special breakfast price on the weekends for us poor folks looking for a "deal"!!!! -

Hi, I am just starting writing reviews on yelp. I hope this gets published. I have driven past Harold's for the last 7 years. Never tried it. Just the other day, after my weight watchers meeting, I treated myself to breakfast at Harold's, I had no idea what to expect, but I loved it. The opposite of a chain, no bells or whistles, just down home cooken.
Felt like a local, expected Barney Fife to walk in. -
Review from Lei B.
My friend and I came here after our hike to Boney Mountain (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). Actually on the way to our hike I was already looking for places to eat around the area and found this.
They have an extensive list of omelettes and they are massive! I decided to go with the Chicken Fajita Omelette (grilled chicken, jack cheese, onion, bell pepper, tomato, and avocado) and some blueberry pancakes to share with my friend. He also got his own omelette.
The omelette is served with a mound of egg on top of all the fixins. Wish my friend and I shared one because we couldn't finish our own. The chicken and everything else I thought was just ok. I liked how the hash browns were nice and crispy. The eggs had a different texture for me, maybe a little too fluffy for my liking. The blueberry pancake was pretty good. The blueberries didn't get mushy in the batter and the pancake was able to stay fluffy.
What I really appreciated from this restaurant was the staff. After driving an hour back to the SFV I realized that my digital camera was missing. I called the restaurant and they were honest to say that they found it! I was so relieved! I was able to drive back to Thousand Oaks before they closed and pick it up.

This place has the best omelets I have ever tasted. The omelets are about two inches thick and very fluffy, might even be 3 inches, whatever they are thicker than I have ever seen. The place has been a TO legend for years with a wait out the door. If you have the time the wait is worth it.
Why such a good review and not five stars? Well for me everything and I mean everything has to be off the chart for five stars and off the chart is hard to do.

Love Harolds! Everything is great from the food to the people who work there!!
I always get the huevos rancheros Mexican style. I'll never be able to eat it Anywhere else because they do it RIGHT! My eggs are always up and easy and my hashbrowns crispy and wonderful. Instead of toast, they will replace it with a pancake for free! I love the balance of the flavors. I always get a table fast and the servers are very friendly!
Definitely a good pick!!! -

Odds are I've been dining here since womb-time as Harold's is hands down my family's favorite hometown diner in Thousand Oaks. Breakfast all day. Specialty nights. Why not have a fresh horchata with your waffles? Personally, I'm addicted to the Huevos Rancheros Mexican Style with eggs over easy & beans. Hot damn.

My husband and I had to try this place because a Mexico native told us it was the best Mexican food around. I thought ... what the heck does omelettes have to do with Mexican food?
So we went there. My husband got what looked like a 12 pound burrito and I got pasta - not Mexican food or an omelette. I tried his carnitas burrito and it was delicious. But my pasta was even better.
We'll be back on a Wednesday for $8 all you can eat tacos. Yum! -

This place has been in TO forever. I have been in the area since 1980 and my first experience was a couple of weeks ago for breakfast with a friend.
Wow, the place was very neat and clean and larger than it appears from the street. The service was fast and attentive.
A great breakfast menu. I had the corned beef hash and it was perfect. I would say it is a bit pricey for breakfast but I will come again.
From reading the other reviews I will certainly check out the lunch and dinners at Harold's.
What took me so long to find this place?? -

I had a mini burrito with napolitos and I thought it was really good. I had my wife's wheat toast, which is one of the best I've had! The place is a bit smaller than I thought but it was friendly and nice. Everyone else seemed to like their dishes and based on other reviews it looks like we're on par.

I can't believe it's taken me so long to write about this place. It's called Harold's House of Omelettes and yes it's known for it's incredibly unique (totally different than you've ever had 'em, I swear) omelettes...
But why do I love this place? TACO BAR NIGHTS! Wednesday and Saturday it's ALL YOU CAN EAT TACOS for JUST $7.95 and DUDE, they are really actually good. If you can let go of the fact that this restaurant is small and hasn't changed it's look for over 20 years (yeah that's fake wood paneling I'm pretty sure on the walls) and that the all you can eat taco buffet bar is placed in an awkward corner of the restaurant - then you are going to love this place!
The taco bar has CARNITAS (YUM-O), carne asada, chicken, pastor and all the toppings you need to adorn your soft or crunchy taco.
If you ain't into tacos, you can go Monday nights for hamburger night (although I haven't been there yet). This place is the SH*T. Omelettes, tacos, root beer floats? What more can you ask for? -

I wanted to love this place, and came in full of expectation and hope. However, love was not to be.
I ordered a vegetarian omelet, my wife poached eggs. After having our order taken, we waited 40 minutes - 40 minutes!!! - for nothing. We asked our waiter what was going on, and he said "Don't worry, almost ready" After another 10 minutes and another inquiry, we were told that "poached eggs take longer" (total B.S.) Another 5, and finally the order comes out, and I'm greeted by a Western Omelet replete with two strips of bacon on top instead of my Vegetarian. You can imagine how this went over. We suspected the order was lost, but the server wasn't upfront with us about it.
To be fair they knocked a few bucks off the bill and comped a hot chocolate to make up for the screw-ups - but this is one House we won't be visiting again. -

Four stars for the All-You-Can-Eat Taco Bar on Wednesdays! My only experience at Harold's was for the taco bar, so I can't comment on the rest of the menu. However, the taco bar was awesome. There was a good variety of meat, and you can get soft or hard taco shells. I liked the chicken and steak, though there was a mystery red meat that some friends tried and found to be questionable in taste.
However, you really can't beat $7.95 for all the tacos you want! And the tacos are good too! -

Very very average pancakes. I don't know if I just made a wrong order. I guess they have better omelettes since its on their brand name, and also the queue to get in for Sunday breakfast?

The breakfast of champions.
Little bro noticed that Harold's is always uber busy. Hubster and I decided to meet little bro for brunch on Saturday. It's a quaint, sort of rundown, yet clean type of joint. Nothing fancy, but the right kind of ambiance for a yummy breakfast. Yes, a family place or a restaurant where you can kick it with a newspaper sprawled across the table. One look at Harold's and you assume it has solid food and generally caters the locals. There's easy parking out front and you simply put your name on the clipboard.
The omelets were generally $12.99. The price sounded steep -- taking into account the dollar per ambiance ratio. But I soon realized why the omelets ran around $13 bucks. This was no 3 egg omelet. My omelet had at least 6 eggs, maybe even more. I'm not sure I've seen a larger omelet at a restaurant or home. Little bro's girl ordered the tamale omelet and her minimum 6 egg omelet came with an actual gigantic chicken tamale.
The food was legit. I still don't understand how Los Angeles restaurants screw up breakfast so often. The Valley did good! A flavorful fluffy omelet. There's an omelet for everyone at Harold's -- they'll make it your way. Yummy omelet doused in hot sauce -- a delish brunch. Mine came with a choice of toast and hash browns. The hash browns could have been a tad bit saltier but they weren't soaking in grease which is a plus.
None of us finished our breakfast. Hubster and I split an omelet and we still didn't finish it. Little bro is an eater, and he just couldn't eat anymore. I highly recommend ordering one omelet for 2 people or 3.
So $13 (not including tax & tip) for 2 is a steal. No one went home hungry or unsatisfied. -
Review from Lilani E.
I really wanted to love this place; it is literally right around the corner from me.
We woke up Sunday AM starving and were really excited to try Harold's out.
Luckily we walked because there isn't the greatest amount of parking here.
We were seated right away. The menu was huge and the prices great. Unfortunately, the omelets...they scared me and my sensitive stomach away, sounding a BIT too heavy. So I opted for 2 eggs, toast, bacon and hash browns.
Kieran ordered a blueberry waffle with eggs and bacon. The food came quick, which we were very happy about.
My food was good. I actually ruined it by putting too much ketchup and too much Tabasco sauce on my hash browns. I was actually very pleased with hash browns because they either make or break breakfasts for me. These were tasty, well cooked and not burnt.
My orange juice was not very good and Kieran's waffle.... it tasted like bread crust with a hint of blueberry. It just tasted blah.
Maybe we should get omelets the next time, I'm not sure. Definitely come back to see any edits made because I'm sure that won't be the last time I come here.Listed in: .conejo valley., .not so much.

Thousand Oaks, CA
I think my first trip to Harold's was when I was about 10 years old and my dad had his Toyota serviced across the street... all I remembered was that the omlette seemed to be the size of my head.
Returning as a 30-something, I realized that Harold's probably has some of the best Mexican breakfasts around. I haven't been here for anything but breakfast... but I adore Mexican breakfast. The "Huevos Rancheros - Mexican style" as opposed to the regular variety on the menu is killer. Swimming in a tangy salsa verde, topped with generous chopped cilantro with onion and tomato. The hash browns are very American diner style and pair well with the salsa verde. Just good stuff. I guess with the hash browns its Mexican-fusion.
The machaca (sp?) is also great, but as usual, you need to ask for extra salsa verde.
Omlettes are a huge fluffy egg "hat" over a pile of whatever filling you order. Personally I prefer the "folded over" kind, but they're still really good.
Service is always friendly, prompt and accommodating to any request. I love this place... the campy flyers for their theme nights complete the experience. -

Harolds makes omelets that would make Dr Frankenstiens creations ashamed.
The omelets are HUGE. Not very much omelets by the traditional description that I know them as, they are really wonderful. Instead of having the ingredients suspended in the egg, it seems like everything is pan-fried and then topped with 6 eggs that have been cooked into a flufy brick about the size and thickness of a stack of 3 dinner plates.
If you go a weekend, make sure you have time because you will wait, You can expect a fairly pricey breakfast, but man, you get a ton of food. Try the bacon waffle, thats right, these madmen actually back bacon into their waffle and it's amazing.
Seating can be a bit cramped and the wait staff isn't exactly cheery but what the hell, the food speaks for itself.Listed in: Escape From LA

Its been a long time since I last went to Harolds and after eating my amazing chorizio and egg burritto this morning I'm really not quite sure why! At a litlle over $7 I had this huge burritto, stuffed with chorizo and eggs that probably weighed about a pound and then on top of all that food there was a decent sized side of hash browns. Oh.. soo yummy!! I topped my burritto off with their spicy green salsa, it was to die for! I think I went to heaven this morning!
In all the years that I've been going to Harolds (about 20) I have never had a bad thing yet, between their omlettes filled with all the imaginable things and even things like a tamale on the bottom, home made chili colorado, their pancakes bigger than the plate they serve them on with atleast a 1 inch thickness, to all their mexican specialities that they also make. They also offer your classic american fare all day long, like hamburgers, sandwhiches, soups.
This place truely is the little hole in the wall place. On the weekends when you go be prepared to wait outside, and you may want to park behind it as the parking sucks in the front. -
Review from Sara L.
I haven't been here for anything other than breakfast. I meant to go and try their lunch or dinner specials but I moved away. I will go back however and then i'll update.
Breakfast:
Their omelette's are a bit different. Theirs come with a massive egg top that looks like the cap of a mushroom. Underneath is all of the goodies you wanted. The egg cap is light and fluffy and doesn't make the dish too heavy. It looks like it would be heavy but it really is light and airy. They have 32 different kinds of omelets and all of them come with hash browns. I have had one with Bacon, Cheese, Mushrooms and avocado. The portions aren't small at all.
If there is a specific kind of omelet you want, they will probably have it or can make it for you!
The parking can be a bit rough since it shares with other businesses. Park on the street and walk if nothing is available. I would go early if you're going for breakfast, especially on the weekends. The do get pretty packed. -

I consider dumping a scrambled egg pillow on top of filling cheating, but Harold's earns the right to cheat.
I've driven from Camarillo to TO and waited outside for 30 minutes for the privilege of stuffing my gullet with this place's food. The hash browns are always perfect and the eggs are just the right amount of fluffy and buttery.
I have had them overcook the eggs a couple of times, but that's usually not the case.
They get four stars because the service usually isn't the best. They do refill your coffee mug regularly, but sometimes it takes a while to have your order taken and get served. -

Thousand Oaks, CA
I've only been here once, and I'll definitely need to post an update as I go through the menu. It's a large menu, too, with a few dozen omelettes alongside many other breakfast items. They actually have a bunch of numbers like 24A attached to the omelettes as if they get added and rotated off (e.g. 24A is added between 24 and 25). I'd gotten something called a Congressional omelet which they'd described as being bloated and empty or something. It was actually this huge, poofy, but not empty egg semisphere atop a bed of grilled onions and peppers, alongside a big, messy disc of old-school hash browns.
The hash browns were my favorite part, although they clearly knew what they were doing with the omelet. It's not something where there's competing for the best in the state, but there's a reason they're still in business. I also thought the service was very professional, and for some reason, I love the place itself. The decor's great in a way that isn't sophisticated but isn't tacky -- it's got a real wooden motif, with wallpaper some places, and various rooster and hen figures about. There's also a sort of partition that separates the side with the counter and some tables from the bathroom and other tables, giving it a nice, cozy feel. There was no crowding problem whatsoever, but it is pretty small, so I'm not sure how it holds up to weekend mornings. -

After Harold passed away the quality suffered.
But eventually the family got involved, it rallied and is once again a great place for breakfast.
The omelets are the star here. My favorite the Beef Stroganoff, but they are all excellent. You won't find this quality anyplace else.
"Any guy that can man the flat top grill with three inches of ashes dangling down from the cigarette butt in his mouth has got to be a good cook" my dad mentioned one day.
On the strength of that statement, you really should give Harold's a shot if you're in the greater Conejo Valley area. -

I came here on a Saturday morning and it was really busy. Don't forget to write your name on the clipboard that's hanging outside (we didn't know at first). There were a few names in front of ours, but we were sat pretty quickly and our server was attentive and fast.
While neither my friend nor I ordered an omelet (which looked huge and ran about $10 each), we both enjoyed our breakfasts. I had the french toast with 2 sausages and a poached egg. My dining companion ordered biscuits with gravy. My dish was good, but his was even better. That gravy was delicious.
It looks like Harold's has been around for more than 50 years, so they're obviously doing something right. I enjoyed it and would be more than willing to go back and try one of their giant omelets sometime. -

So I've been cutting back on my meat consumption. Natalie G. has gone pescetarian. We decide to split some food because the dishes at Harold's are gigantic.
What we order: "Vegetarian Omelet"
What we get: a veggie omelet with chicken chunks in it.
I call the waiter over:
Me: "Excuse me, we expressly ordered food without meat in it, and there's meat all over this omelet."
Waiter: "I'm sorry. Would would you like us to make it again?"
Me: "Can you make sure there is no meat in it this time, please?"
Waiter: "I'm sorry, but we cannot guarantee no meat."
M: "Uhhh, really?"
W: "Yes."
M: "I'll just take the check then, and I won't be covering this meal."
At least he didn't try to charge me for breakfast, but I left really really hungry and extremely disappointed. I suppose that's the last of Harold's, which is a true disappointment because they are some of the best breakfast providers in the area.1 Previous Review: Show all »

The morning after a long night of drinking this would be a great place for breakfast. It's hidden, cute and the food is good. I had the Western Omelette and it's great. My friends friend had a pancake special and let me tell you, the pancake is HUGE.. bigger then the plate itself and it was bigger then his head! LOL so why the 3 stars instead of 5... there's only ONE restroom AND I saw the person sitting across from us pulling a LONG STRAND OF HAIR OUT OF THEIR FOOD!!!! so.. i still think you should check this place out but PRAY to not have unwanted things in your food. =D

This is our breakfast stop whenever we go wine tasting up in Santa Ynez. You have to put some good food in your stomach to keep up with all the wine throughout the day.
We always order the chorizo omelet but this time we decided to split it. We learned from experience because this baby is huge! I thought it was funny when we cut it in half and realized how much grease was in this plate (see picture, I'm not exaggerating at all). We ate it anyways and surprisingly enough, our stomachs held up, even after the multiple bottles of wine we consumed.
Back to the omelet. It has to be at least six eggs. The chorizo is nestled inside along with a layer of hash browns and mounds of cheese. I believe it is then thrown in the oven to bake, which would explain the fluffiness of it. When they serve it they plop it out of the pan and it comes upside down if that makes sense, you end up with a dome of egg.
This is a must if you are in the area.Listed in: Low carb awesomeness

Thanks Yelpers for helping us out on this one- We were in route from SLO to LA and needed our breakfast fix. This was perfect! I got a taco omlette and i was nervous it would be greasy really heavy but it wasn't. It was LARGE for sure but just awesome - the dome omlette was shockingly big, fluffy and absolutely delicious! My wife's Waffel was the size of a small bed topped with fresh fruit. Very nice! I so wish I could find a breakfast place like this in NYC but I haven't yet and don't suspect I will.
Great service, a little more expensive than a typical breakfast joint but so worth it.....tons of food, excellent ingredients and lots of love. I thought I've seen it all in terms of omlettes but I was wrong - Harold's surprised me! Thanks again folks!
I don't think many breakfast joints warrant 5 stars, but I just gotta do it here:
Stamp it: 5 STAR CERTIFIED! -

I loved it! One of those all day breakfast diners that gives a lot of food. I decided to mix it up and be brave and got a fruit omelet. It had bananas, strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges, and cottage cheese. I know thats some weird stuff but how will you know if you never try? which goes for everything except crack. AWESOME..it was great. perhaps a little too much cottage cheese but good. My lunchmate had a Denver omelet which he said he enjoyed. I also heard they have good Mexican food and burgers. At least four people getting big to-go orders during our 45 min lunch and there were a few people in the place. My only issue is they ain't cheap. Omelet and ice tea=$17.50 with tip. AND THATS LUNCH. but its good but i dont know if its worth it.
