Review from Lindsay M.
Scottsdale, AZ
I think this was probably the best sushi I've ever had. Sure it was a little pricey and yes, we had to wait for over an hour for our table. However, the end result was fantastic and we did not regret our decision to celebration our anniversary here.
The service was outstanding. Our server was attentive, helpful and nudged me in the right direction when I couldn't decide what to order. I ended up ordering a flaming lip roll and a spicy scallop roll. Both were delicious although I was partial to the flaming lip. Sriracha, jalapenos and spicy mayo, oh my! The standard rolls were moderately priced but the specialty rolls were a bit more expensive. My husband is a vegetarian and is often forced to order the standard veggie or avocado roll when we go out for sushi. Harney had five different veggie rolls to choose from including one that featured tempura sweet potato...YUM.
The overall vibe of the restaurant was intimate, trendy and fun. It was in the heart of Old Town although a bit off the beaten path from the normal hubbub. I wish I could have stuffed more food into my tummy to try more of their rolls but alas, I wasn't able to even finish my two. We will definitely get our sushi on here during our next trip to SD. -

The first visit I had here was great for the most part. The atmosphere was awesome, music was chill, they actually had a little D.J. in the corner. The edamame was on spot, and the rolls were satisfying. I actually really enjoyed myself here.
But upon the second visit I noticed a few things that I had been blinded to on the first visit... like the fact that the place is super small, the sushi chef goes a little overboard with the sauce on the rolls, and the seaweed was chewy (which typically is a sign that its been pre rolled/has been sitting for a while).
I hope that if I have a future return, my mind will be changed. -

So I decided for a first date that I would bring her to Harney Sushi, the best sushi in San Diego - or so I thought. The highlight reel was running into some cool people I knew while waiting for our table. We were sat quickly, which was cool.
The table we got was probably the worst one in the restaurant. I felt like I was away from the rest of the people and right next to the service area.
Our "server" identified herself as our "waitress." Oops. That is a restaurant no-no. Then she continued to deteriorate. She asked if it was just us two, removed the other settings at our four-top, then said she would be back. No drink order.
Fast-forward 10 minutes. She is back. We order. Then she asks if we want bottled water or are okay with "just tap" water, which is what we had been drinking for about 20 minutes while waiting for her to say hi. So - you are so prude to make me feel cheap for drinking tap water at a restaurant? Who do you think you are?
Then after about 30 more minutes, she brought the wrong roll out. We just sat there for 5 minutes. Then she came back and said "you didn't order this right?" Then she proceeded to take it to the table right next to us, after pulling a Kobe Bryant fake-out into the other dining room with it first. Gross! Do you want old sushi that has been on someone else's table for 5 minutes with them breathing on/possibly touching it? Nasty Harney!
We ordered two rolls but didn't get any ginger or wasabi. I didn't want to ask for any since our "waitress" was too busy to even stop to talk to us. Seemed like she was sweating and slurring her words.
But not all was bad!
The good: The busser was on top of his game. He came up double-fisted with pitchers of "tap" water to keep us happy all night. I am sure if I got my wasabi I would not have been hung out to dry either, this guy was on it.
The staff was super cool on the way out. They all made a point to say thanks.
The sushi was, well, ouch. Pretty bad. No taste to one roll (apparently they substitute cod for eel now) and the other roll with albacore tasted like it was old fish. Totally surprised as Harney usually has been on par with the best.
The DJ was, well, ouch again. Some asian dude playing 90's rap. I was thinking it was reggae night, but was a day early. How could they have such good music on reggae night and then totally suck another night really gets me. Note to venue - one bad night can ruin your entire week.
So the waitress, food and table were all the worst I have ever received at Harney. Not to mention the crappy music but none of this really bothered me. My date joked to me about it and we had fun anyways. The outlook for a second date is sunny with no chance of clouds, so perhaps this was a good experience. How often can you tell a girl about the "best" place in San Diego and then get slammed with a trifecta of total crapola?
I tipped over 20% so hopefully the busboy gets paid, as well as the hostess. The waitress and sushi chef both need to go. Especially this waitress. Whoever hired this girl needs to put down the pipe. I get it - Miso Harney and 420 is cool, but don't hire girls who have no clue what the fuck is going on in a restaurant. And you are not hooters. Male servers are acceptable, get over yourselves.
So what happened to the "best" sushi in San Diego? Where did it swim off to? -
Review from PJ H.
One of Old Town's best. The sushi is fresh and higher grade than what you will find in most of San Diego. The service is wonderful, the wait staff are knowledgeable, witty and courteous. They have a wide selection of sushi but are somewhat short on salmon eggs and other roe based specialties. Overall a very good experience, the tab can get a little high but compared to some so of the local competition it's money well spent. In short the price point is decent for the product offering. I shall return.

I really liked this place. lots of options in terms of vibe cool bar, cozy sexy booths, outdoor or sleek dining area. I had the hamachi hand roll with avocado and the soft shell crab handroll. the edamame sampler was unique and yummy and the miso soup was fine. I also liked the dessert a tempura cheesecake with strawberry!

Great if you are more interested in the "experience" rather than the "sushi" part of the sushi dining experience. Don't get me wrong, the menu is extensive, and there are some enticing options on here, but you really have to love creative specialty rolls and cream cheese.. and while I do enjoy a good roll, nothing here stands out enough for me to justify the price point.
I did enjoy the soft shell crab hand roll (no cream cheese, hurrah!) and I was pretty pleased about the free flaming lip roll yelp check-in offer. -

We came on a Friday night and was told the wait would be an hour to an hour and a half. It was good that the provided us a beeper and told us it reached as far as a football field. And just in case they couldn't get a hold of us, they would reach us by cell phone. We were able to do some window shopping until our table was ready and we were in within an hour. Our server was an Asian lady with tats. She was a wonderful waitress! Some of the items that we ordered:
Sautéed Mushrooms : Great appetizer! Wonderfully cooked and was soooO delicious!
Philadelphia Roll : Tasty.
Soft shell crab roll : Just okay.
Spicy Lobster Roll : Nothing special and not spicy at all. Would not order again.
Miso Harney Roll : Delicious! The best roll out of the 4 ordered.
Why the 5 stars? Service was impeccable! Our waitress had brought out the Philly roll first and realized that our mushrooms didn't make it out yet. She very apologetic about it. Throughout our meal, she kept checking up on us. The sushi was good, don't get me wrong, but we killed our plates! Though the pieces were cut small, I would've gotten full off our order elsewhere but the service would keep me coming back.
Only negatives: sushi rolls are small for what we pay for, bathroom is outside in the back (and is unisex) and parking sucks! -
Review from Trish S.
Some of the best service I've ever had in a large group of girls. We had a reservation for 12....14 plus showed up and our server was chill and helpful, bringing us drinks and food as we ordered them with a smile all through the night. I didn't catch her name or I'd call her out for a little public praise!
Food was fantastic, my favs being the Bomb James Bomb roll and shisito peppers, we also ALL had at the least one or three of the Thai Sangrias, YUM, I wanna try to recreate this for my backyard all summer. My miso soup was exactly as it should be (so sad when it isnt hu? )
The vibe at the Old Town location is MUCH preferred over the Oceanside one, and I felt that despite the crowded smaller space, the staff was much more in tune with us patrons, quick attentive service and they accommodated us with our birthday cake, large girly group, and our musical chair type seating arrangements....they didn't seem to mind at all, we're we on a roll if you will...haha..sorry, had to.
Parking is rough, but thats old town!Listed in: Happy Hours far and wide, Date Night!

Sashimi is alright, but not the best (Sushi Deli II is better)

Happy Hour Sake is the bomb-diggity y'all
Great atmosphere and attentive staff
Parking is a beast though, -

Harney.... you don't make me harney for you what so ever. You are not THAT cool as you may think you are.
I know this supposed to be hip, cool, trendy 'sushi" spot with hot waitresses and hostesses... but when people who work here make you feel like they are above you and don't do their job and need constant reminders the "cool" rating goes down.
We came here on a Saturday night, waited for about an hour of our table.... STARVING at that point. Our waitress Pricsilla really looked promising at first.... she took our drink orders and appetizers, we also ordered one Miso soup... upon bringing out our drinks and appetizers our waitress seemed to completely forget about us... and Miso soup never came. We sat there for a good hour waiting for her to appear in sight to wave her down to take our order.... she was nowhere to be found. Finally I walked up to one of her colleagues to ask her to come by and take our order. Pricscilla finally decided to grace us with her presence only to POINT OUT that she FIGURED we needed MORE time to decided what we wanted to eat... Honey, 1 hour to decide what we wanted to eat is MORE than enough.
I asked for just a regular Lemon Drop martini with a sugar rim, the waitress told me
hat they don't PUT SUGAR ON THE RIM for Lemon Drop Martinis.... WTH?!
When we finished eating our mediocre sushi, it was difficult to find Pricsilla once again to let her know that we had a Birthday Boy at our table and we wanted to order desert for him. Once again, one person from our table had to get up and walk out and look for her to place that order. The dessert took a really long time to come too.
There was no apology extended to us for the terrible service either. I won't be going back to Harney Sushi... -
Review from Kalen K.
Depending on the person, I imagine this place could be rated a 5 or a 2 - just depends on what you are looking for out of a sushi place. Hip, great sushi, fusion, loud - this is your 5. If you want quiet, all you can eat, 1:1 service - you are going to think this is a 2.
Ambiance - Very hip. Had a DJ spinning and the music is fairly loud. The decor is modern sushi joint. Buttttt - they also have outside seating with heaters and it isn't nearly as loud. And it looks more zen garden. My advice- if you want to yell at eachother during dinner eat inside. Prefer a little more relaxed setting - ask to sit outside.
Food- Damn good. I went with a couple and we shared our meal. The chefs choice sashimi was very fresh and a good selection that he gave us. They had 4 kinds of edamame and we had the smoked salt which was new to me - in a good way.We also had the Tatter Todds and the Unwritten Lawbacore- get them, they rock. This was more than enough food for 3.
Drinks- They do not sell liquor. There is plenty of sake and beer though and they make some mixed drinks w/ sake and some sake vodka thing.
Service- The service was pretty good. I could see where maybe it is a bit on the slow side if you are in a hurry. The place gets packed so probably not the place to go if you are in a rush.
Cool factor- The place is cool. Good selection of beer from local brewers as well as standard Japanese on tap. Lots of sake choices. There specialty dishes are special, not just a bunch of tubiko and spicey mayo dishes.
Not a 5 for me because I am not that cool anymore - normally I like the quiet, family run joint where I can sit at the sushi bar with quiet mandolin music playing in the background. I was with some cool friends though and we had a blast and the food is really, really good so thats a 4. -

A bit pricey for the rolls but it is what you would expect since it is in the middle of the tourist trap of Old Town. About ninety percent of the rolls had tempura shrimp and/or cream cheese (hey, if you like that, this is your place!). I tried the Dank roll and it was fine but would not suggest this place over other sushi places in San Diego (e.g., Ota, Azuki). This is not the place to go if you want real sushi.

Review from Maria G.
Let's start with the positive. Harney's sushi is probably the best I've ever had with a huge selection and mouth-watering, hit the spot sushi . The atmosphere is pretty trendy, yet casual; modern, yet chic. The service is great! Oooh sake, sake. Probably the biggest selection of sake, I've ever seen.
Now on to the negative. Parking for lunch and dinner is usually a pain in the you know what. The prices are steep.
Last time I went, which I must admit was awhile ago, I ordered the "Dank Roll," since it had shrimp, crab, and lobster - only my favorite combination EVER! The roll definitely was "dank," but the roll was over $20. OVER $20?! Does anyone else think that's crazy? I don't care how good the roll is - $20 for some ocean crustacean meat is ridiculous!
Also, happy hour did not include drinks. What is happy hour without drinks? Punchline: a not so happy me.
I have checked their website recently and saw that the dank roll is now $16 (still pretty steep but at least under $20) and happy hour seems to include drinks. Haven't been with this improved menu and happy hour special, yet, but maybe after the next time I check it out, my star rating for this place will go up. -

Great sushi, awesome selection of rolls and very fresh. For a Monday service was very slow and the hostess somewhat rude because we didn't want outside seating.
Definitely great sushi and a half cool spot but may take another trip to raise it a bit. -

LOVE this place!! It's the only Sushi place in San Diego that I crave. It's beautiful on the inside and the staff is always friendly & professional.
The Mike Check roll is THE BEST! YUM!!
The only things I dislike is that parking is almost impossible (Old Town!) and that some of the menu names are pretty embarassing to order outloud, especially when out with the family ;)...(Good time to point to the menu and say "I'll take one of these") -

I have been hesitating to update my last review in fear of jinxing myself. So knock on wood for me, wouldya?
The service had gone to pot here. I was majorly disappointed and convinced they couldn't turn things around.
I am extremely happy to report that I stand corrected.
They have hired two new servers and they are both on the ball!
I've been back four times since my last review (just to make sure this wasn't too good to be true) - and the food is fresh, fast and delish.
The lunch specials are still awesome and I am really, really glad they fixed whatever issues they were having.

Harney's is a pretty good place sushi restaurant but I wouldn't say it's the best. I really like the bar they have while you wait for your table and the bartender we got let us sample all of the many different types of Sake which was super fun and I found this to be the highlight of the "Harney's experience" since I felt like I was sake-tasting!
In regards to the food, I ended up getting a small-sized sashimi assortment as well as the Me-So-Harney sushi roll (ha...ha...ha - yea, I get it - kind of sick of all the "sexy" sushi roll names that are so prevalent around here - Sushi Ra also does this and I find it lame and corny. Cleverness and creativity are not mutually exclusive with overt sexual innuendo and cliches.) Anyway, back to my roll - It was riceless with strawberries in it. I have mixed feelings about fruit in my sushi but it added a fresh "bite" to the roll and it worked. I also loved the thick tumeric soy paper it was wrapped in. The fish in my both of my dishes was beautifully presented, extremely fresh and very flavorful.
That said, I still don't know if this is the best sushi place around... definitely one of the best but *the* best? Eh, I would say that's an overstatement. It's really good but not out of this world/outrageously-melt in your mouth-pure awesomeness.
My favorite aspects of my time there, in addition to the aforementioned sake-sampling, was the soy wrapping paper in my roll and probably the presentation of the dishes as well as the decent atmosphere/vibe of the place - I think that in itself is proof that it's not spectacular. The fish and entire dish, overall, should be the highlight *if* it were the best sushi place in San Diego... it's not. The treasure hunt for the best continues!!!!!!!Listed in: All Things Sashimi/Sushi

I've been here twice now and both times it was packed for the late night Happy Hour (10:00 P.M. until midnight). They have some odd named fusion-type sushi rolls here which were okay. However, their prices are the killer for me. It's good, but not enough to warrant about $13.00 for a roll.
In addition to being a restaurant, they also have a bar/lounge area. The waitresses were pretty and did a good job both times that I was here. Wait time sucks at night on weekends. I highly recommend making a reservation on weekend evenings.
Layout is a bit confusing, especially if you're looking for the restroom. The restrooms are located out the back door to your immediate right. They're both unisex, by the way.Listed in: Dining Out, Asian Cuisine

I'm an idiot, ignore my last review, shame on me. When you're ready to pay for sushi that is worth its weight in gold, come to Harney. It is worth the money because of the high quality and innovative specialty rolls you won't find anywhere else.
It's been the service that needs improvement, when I want to order more rolls or extra alcohol i.e. give you more money, it shouldn't take 10 minutes to find my server and do so. Fix that and you've got a 5 star rating.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Let me give you a visual. You walk in and it's modern as hell. It's unusually dark, which seems to be the trend for fancier American restaurants. Speaking of trend, that's a better word to describe this place: trendy. It look like this is where all the cool kids come. And then you get seated, and let me tell you it's right next to the exit door because that's where they place all the young people of color even though there are multiple seats in more comfortable areas. You open the menu. Oh shit, this is a Japanese restaurant? Yeah, never would have guessed.
The ambiance just didn't fare well with me. It was just trying too hard. It felt like a place where rich professionals loved to wine and dine and attempt to embrace the Japanese food and culture. Okay, maybe that's enough of the ambiance. On to the food!
The food was surprisingly decent. They had a great selection of vegetarian rolls, which was perfect for my boyfriend. Most of the rolls didn't appeal to me given that most either had stupid cream cheese or were a variation of a california roll or shrimp tempura roll. Where's all the good cuts of fish here?! I ended up having the orange crush roll without cream cheese and a spicy scallop. Pretty decent, but nothing to rave about.
Probably won't be coming here again. I'll just go back to convoy for some good Japanese food. Or better yet, I'll go to LIttle Tokyo in LA. -

I have been here many times for lunch. I had stopped coming for awhile b/c the service had slowly become too slow for my hour lunch break. However, this all changed last week. It seems as though Harney hired a bunch of new servers for the lunch shift. I was in once last week and again today. Both times we had great servers who were friendly and attentive. Today we were in-and-out in under 45 minutes.
Our food was awesome! Their lunch specials are amazing! I got a lunch special for $8.95 that came with an eight-piece CA roll, three giant pieces of shrimp tempura, soup, salad and a soft drink!! They have the best little appetizer salad. It has rice krispies on it with this really good light dressing. Where else can you get high-quality sushi at that price? I love Sushi Deli, but Harney has better sushi... At lunch time, this place just can't be beat.
Also, if you "Check In" you get a free Flaming Lip Roll...one of the best rolls I've ever had! Highly recommend this place for lunch!! -

What can I say!!! DEFREAKINLICIOUS!
My cousin and I went there for the first time this past weekend after reading all the great reviews and let me tell you....WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!!
Yes, the wait was a bit long but we were able to find a spot at the bar where we ate garlic edamame with our drinks.
As soon as the buzzer went off we were seated outside where there was a fare share of heating lamps that kept us warm. Our waitress greeted us with a big smile and was so patient and helpful with picking out the best plates.
We ended up ordering the Tatter Todds, Pirate Roll and sashimi albacore. Every single dish just kept getting better and better!!! The #1 in my book is hands down....TATTER TODDS!!!! Just wait!!!!! It will fosho take you to a happy place!! :)
So when in town...go here!!! -

This place was fun and delicious. I visited on a Friday night around 9:30. We got a table right by the DJ, which worried me but it was surprisingly not so loud that we couldn't hear our own conversation. The food was delicious and the service was great. Parking sucked but that was to be expected for Old Town. I will definitely be coming back here for late night sushi.

We were lucky enough to get two seats at the valentine Nook dinner. It was a supreme blast. Chef Anthony and his crew served seven cocoa based courses and 4 cocktails.
Highlight of the evening was a deconstructed swordfish BLT. Anthony took the Belly of the swordfish and with some kind of magic made a smoked bacon that was the foundation of the dish. Then he added some white choc. mayo. Damn good!!
A standout cocktail was a curry mimosa.
We will be back! -

I love this sushi spot. Always good music playing, nice atmosphere, and food is never a disappointment. Reservations are recommended, but we didn't have it when we came for dinner and was able to be seated on a Sat night after 15min. Not bad. Honestly, everything I ever get here is good, but this time around we ordered the:
1. Ozeki nigori sake
2. assorted sashimi
3. sassashio sashimi
4. rollz royce roll
5. pirate roll
Can't go wrong w. any of those choices above. This place is great for a date, with friends, eating inside or in the patio, etc. -

We straggled in for late night happy hour and arrived shortly after 10p. Happy hour is only for some food items, no drink specials - unfortunate and disappointed.
Small joint off the main drag. Parking may be difficult to find in the area, but it's free street parking or else you'll be paying for a lot.
Hostess was friendly and offered our party a table in the outdoor semi-heated patio. The guys ordered beers and I ordered the following:
-Endless summer ($6.50): Had soju, sake, raspberry and lemonade in the drink. Great topper for my night.
-Fried Rice ($5): Couldn't customize so I had to eat the carrots.. YUCK!!! I needed substance to soak up thee alcohol.
-Salmon Nigiri ($5): On the smaller portion, and not the best that I've had. Ehhh...
Service was good and attentive. The patio area got a bit chilly so we opted to leave right before the happy hour ended at midnight. -

Place is small, food is pricey and place has no proper tables to place a family to eat. My 21 month old son had to sit on my lap, the table was wobbly and we were placed outside where it was cold as heck, is this where you want to place your child? I think not, we were next people who drank.
The menu was cool, the food was expensive and when our food came out I ordered some sushi and some Teriyaki chicken for the boyfriend everything had large portions but that does not excuse the pricey food. I know I brought my kid here because my friend brings her kids here, but I guess from now on they should put not a place for families to come to and I guess my expectations were different for a sushi place. Everything is dark as heck and floor/walking place is uneven like going through a tunnel, tables were near the entrance of the restaurant. Never going here again. -

This place is always busy. Great Happy Hour and nice young adult vibe. Loud music but still able to converse amongst each other. The servers were awesome and they always checked up on us. I had the crunchy roll and some mixed drinks and it was good. My girlfriend had some different variations of sushi and she loved every bit of it. Definitely will return.

I really can not say enough about this place. If you are looking for great sushi come here, the rolls are fresh and delicious, the chicken teriyaki was moist and the sauce itself was great. The service was great and our waitress was friendly, the only issue we had is that three out of four of us had our dinners while one person sat and just waited for his food. I asked the waitress how long would it be before his food came out and she explained that since he ordered the steak it would take a little longer which we completely understood but I did feel bad that we were done eating and then his food came out. The atmosphere was awesome as well, a dj mixing songs in the background as you ate was a great touch. I would highly recommend making reservations as this place is very tiny, when we arrived there was a line halfway down the block and heard multiple people saying they hope they can get in as they didn't have reservations, one couple even called while waiting on line to get reservations and was told they had nothing available for that evening. The dessert was just as amazing as the meal, we ordered the nut cake and deep fried cheesecake bites. I would come back to Harney Sushi in a heartbeat even with the small inconvenience of waiting a little longer for a meal.

The sushi here is delish, but the price can really rack up! So if you're worried about the cost, I went recently and they were doing a"buy one get one" deal on the sushi, just by downloading their App. :)
I'd say, try the Miso Harney roll, especialllyyy if you're a fan of rolls with fried tempura and cream cheese on it. Besides, not only is the name pretty amusing, but it was definitely my favorite of the day! It costs $12.50, but I went during lunch and there was a lunch special deal for $30, where you get Cali Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Miso Harney Roll, 2 soups, 2 salads, 2 drinks, and two pieces each of Shrimp, Tuna, sea bass, and salmon nigiri. It was perfect for me and my friend, and the cost was pretty amazing! (equals to only $15 per person) We actually bought a couple other rolls too, but that was a mistake because even with my now overly-bloated stomach, I still needed a to-go box.
And I know people talk about the wait time too, but during lunch time on a weekday, there was no wait at all! In fact, there were even some empty tables. AND we found parking in a place like Old Town. As for the service, I thought it was good, because if you're nice, make me smile at least once, quick, and fill up my water at a continuous rate, then you are A-OK in my book! -

LATE NIGHT HAPPY HOUR REVIEW ONLY: I was in town and staying outside the downtown area (on the Green Line on the Hazard stop on the Trolly Line) and I was looking for a good sushi place at a fair price. Yelpers once again served me well and I just wanted to give these guys a STRONG REVIEW and a POSITIVE NOD - for a well diversified Late Night Menu that is fairly priced and well prepared. They had simple rolls with good quality sustainable fresh fish for as little as $3-6 bucks and for a few more bucks you can get a variety of interesting salads ($5) and even some elaborate rolls with all the bells and whistles (if you like sauces and stuff and fried stuff too). The shrimp bombs and the albacore roll are stand outs and the guys at the sushi bar and the servers where nice, funny and service oriented. I walked outta there full and sushi satisfied for under $40+ dollars including tip. Give these guys a look and skip the usual mexican fare in the old town area instead......

I use to love this place. Love as in 5 star love. Then I hated this place, maybe 2 star worth. Averaged it out to be about a 3.5 round up to 4....
Parking sucks in this area.
The place is tiny. Have fun waiting a badgillion hours for a table.
The fish quality, honestly isn't that wonderful. The place is mostly known for it's
plethora of rolls which in all honestly are pretty awesome.
I like the Orange Crush roll. I hesitate to recommend a roll since everyone I bring here either hates my recommendations or loves them. The biggest tip I can give is come with about four people (not more or else you will never get seated) and order a bunch of different rolls with different sauces. Some rolls might blow your mind. Some rolls will be no-no. Try them all, I will guarantee you will find something trully amazing, and something that you wish you could get your $14.99 back.
I like the monkey brains appetizer. I always recommend it, and I stand by it.
Overall like I said the place is hit or miss. Service is always really good, but the ambiance is like a club. It's as Japanese as Taco Bell is Mexican. The place really does have some interesting rolls, and if you can somehow get seated much more find parking, the place isn't bad.
It's expensive to say the least, but definitely unique. Just don't order traditional Japanese fare you would get at say Sushi Ota. -

Not a fan: Sushi is expensive. Place is small. There's usually a long wait. U have to exit the restaurant to the back parking lot to enter the bathrooms.
A fan: lots of different rolls to choose from. Yummy sake. Cool hipster vibe. Dim lighting. DJ plays decent & loud music. Young crowd.
What keeps me coming back: the FLAVORED EDAMAME -

I arrived and checked in on Yelp with presented a coupon for a Flaming lip roll, what ever that is! I ordered it and let me tell you - it was awesome. I got there at 11:30am right when it opens, and the line was starting to build up, so if your going for lunch, get there early.

Sit at the sushi bar and ask whats on special.
Open late but its a super popular spot in town so you might not always get a spot and pretty much always have to wait for a sit but its sooo worth it.
Service is better when your a regular of course but Ive noticed its also gotten better for the non regular crowd.1 Previous Review: Show all »
