We took our 15-year old cat here after we inherited him, and they did a great job grooming him. Since then we come here periodically to purchase cat food. They're the only pet shop in the area that carries Before Grain--this really great line that my kittens love!

Everyone at the shop is super helpful! They just don't like processing credit card purchases, so bring cash!

First of all, they made my Shetland sheepdog look like a Scottish terrier.  That should be a felony!

So, I called to make an appointment to bring my little dog in for a grooming.  I warned them of her inoperable tumor and asked that she get no treats and be kept away from other dogs as we inherited this sweet, sick puppy and she was not fixed.  So, they said "no problem" and told me to bring her in the next morning around 10am.

10am I brought my sheltie in for her grooming.  The owner picked up my dog, barely looked at me and told me to pick her up at 6pm.  6pm!  It was 10am and I have a small dog... she was not that dirty!  Well, being a new dog owner of an inherited dog, I thought perhaps that was the standard with dogs and I pushed on.  I repeated that it was very important that the dog get absolutely no treats since she had health issues and was on medication.  The woman behind the counter agreed as she answer the phone and turned her back from me.

I came back that evening to fetch my little dog.  Again, barely a look at me as she took my credit card.  Upon taking my credit card she asked if I had cash since running a charge was such a pain.  Why is she making it difficult for me to give her money?

I took my Scottish Terrier  looking sheltie home to find that she was in fact given brightly colored dog treats that immediately came out of her keyster in a stream of diarrhea that made the entire grooming process obsolete.

Every time (about 4 times) I have brought my dog here ( I used to be a resident in Andersonville) for a groom it has taken 6+ hours. Mind you, this is even WITH me making an appointment. This last time it took much, much more than 6 hours and I was ready to tell her just to give me my dog back. Instead I waited, got my dog and will never recommend this place to anyone. Over 6 hours for a groom? Give me a break and they are full of excuses every time. Not falling for it again. Here's a bit of advice! Don't bite off more than you can chew!

Gloria has been grooming our dogs for over 25 years.  She is caring and my dogs always look great when I get them back.  I have 4 dogs and am very picky about their care.  Although, I have to wait to get them back, as the other reviewers stated, I plan my day around the fact that they will be gone for a while.  Gloria is and always has been worth the wait to me.

I can understand the mixed reviews for this store. However, I only come here for food, treats and toys so I can only base my opinion on that. I've been coming here off and on for about a year and I seem to have won the owner lady over with my charms (who can resist? And it helps that I buy pricey dog food, I guess) and she's always pleasant to me. The prices are a little high but they carry really good quality food, treats, etc. I buy the Fromm brand of food but I'd be happy to try any of the other brands in this store because I know it's all good stuff. It's a super convenient location and my dog is happy and healthy. Can't ask for much more.

I came in here last winter two times. First I bought some gourmet-ish dog treats neither my dog or my mom's would eat. No big deal. Second time I came back looking for a better harness and saw they had a sales associate sign up and I (and still) am needing a bit more income than I have thought I'd inquire. The man asked me to wait around for the owner so I waited like 30-40 minutes ever so patiently. When she appeared she acted like she had no time to speak w/me. I explained I saw the sign and that I would at least like an application. She then asked me a few arbitrary questions about my own pets etc and then told me that it was commission only....and it was during the day (sign said evenings) and also she said I needed pet sales experience. I asked if there was any way to have a base pay the most she could offer is 8.50 that's the wage she offers people that are associates if they don't want commission...now I was in there long enough to notice the gourmet dog everything, fancy food and leads that lady is ripping off her customers and paying her employees shit. I  come from a small business family, if you want to run a boutique and charge boutique prices expect to pay what barely living wage is for the city.

She was also very rude in general during the process, running around and generally didn't care I wanted to apply. I did eventually walk out the associate came after me and apologized for wasting my time and I said I think you are working there...we parted ways.

I want to make a disclaimer I'm not trying to be sour about not being offered even an application, but that I know if an owner treats customers/people interested in hiring that way because she is busy, how will she treat your pet etc? Just the whole cycle makes me question the place and the whole pet grooming business being a money maker. From afar the place is cutesy and I'd trust it on the surface far more than the pet salons I see everywhere...but the way she acted I was definitely not going to be invited to the cool kid's table.

This review isn't meant to reflect negatively on the dog grooming or products the store carries just poor business practices (imo) by the owner.

I took my Alpha dog here to have his nails trimmed, and the 'nail tech' guy was a total pro. We got the job done in minutes, and my Alpha dog was, in fact, a big BABY! He loved the treats that he got, for being a relatively good dog, once he calmed down enough to enjoy them.

I will never get my dog groomed at Petsmart ever again.  Imagine, it took me 6 years to realize that I was getting screwed big time.  Gloria does an excellent job.  My lab mix has never looked better coming from the groomer's, and the price is RIGHT!  The little bag of doggy biscuits she threw in was a nice touch.  Keep up the good work, Happy Tails!

My dogs get a doggie birthday cake from here every year and they go crazy over it as do their canine guests.  Lots of cute treats, too.

Just moved into the area and have been wanting to take my shih tzu to a place other than petsmart/petco.  Guess I'm on a mission to support the smaller business.  We dropped him off at 10am and he was done around 4pm.  It was a long day for my dog.  The groomer said she had a hectic morning with a very very old dog that could have had a heart attack and she was running behind.  My dogs hair cut looked great!  Much much better than petsmart.  I wrote everything down on a piece of paper that I wanted done and they followed all of it.  They even cleaned his anal gland...yes the stinky gland that I refuse to touch.  She also wanted to give him some cookies that I refused because of my dogs sensitive stomach.  Only thing that bothered me is she said my dog nipped at the groomer a few times.  He's never done that before.  In fact, the girls at Petsmart LOVE him.   Not sure if it's because the groomer was a male (he's used to females), maybe because it was a the long day, or it's was his first time.   That's the only disappointment.  I also was very happy with the cost...$40 for everything.

UPDATE:  Ever since I took my dog here, he's now scared.  I will never go back again.

The guy who cuts nails does a good job, is really nice, and doesn't charge too much.  They always give us plenty free treats afterwords too.  But the woman who runs the place often has a scowl and is always bitching at the other people who work there, which creates an all around not so pleasant vibe.

I asked for a "Teddy Bear" hair cut for my dog, it was very cute.  The wait time however was horrible.  I called in advance and asked exactly how long the wait would be if I dropped off my dog in the A.M. she said 3 hours.  I dropped my dog off at 9a.m. never recieved a call I called at 4p.m., they said 30 more min.  My dog was not ready to be picked up until after 6p.m.  I later found out they put the dogs in an assembly line for the de-matting, washing, drying, cutting, and combing process.  The process takes all day while being caged.

my dog's a big fan of fido's. whenever we're on a walk through andersonville, he's always trying to make a b-line straight to his favorite little shop. i swear, he must dream of those cookies they have there. i would consider gloria eccentric at best. she's never been rude or judgemental in my experience. definitely glad to have this store in my neighborhood.

I don't know if Gloria still pretends to groom because I stopped taking my black English Cocker Spaniel here two years ago. The name was formerly Famous Fido, a.k.a. INFAMOUS FIDO.   My experience with her grooming is that my dog was never done on time and in hindsight he was not being shampooed - no wonder she would run after my dog as I would take him out the door, spraying him with canine cologne !  One rainy day he rubbed on my beige sofa after a "grooming" and left it brown, then I realized the poor guy was not being cleaned !  Now  I shampoo him myself at Petco and stay with him when he gets a trim.  I would also be suspicious of the ingredients in any "homemade" treats from Fido - the owner of this place has perfected the art of marketing a lie and she takes advantage of pet lovers.
