Review from Adam R.
Easily the best comic store in Edmonton, and not just because they've been nominated for awards that state as much. Jay and the Happy Harbor staff are just about the least intimidated, most helpful comic book geeks on the planet.
Their customer service is outmatched only by their selections. Hundreds of comic books, graphic novels, toys, models, and games makes this a must-visit. -

Want a local comic book shop with flair? Where staff are friendlier than Casper the Friendly Ghost? Faster than Superman? Have more comic book savvy than the entire Big Bang Theory crew?
Look no further than Happy Harbour Comics. If you come in off Jasper Avenue, you are greeted by a large mural with many of your comic book favourites. If you enter through the back (where there is some parking), you'll see posters of superheroes and find a table reserved for the geekiest in events here in Edmonton.
Then, take a moment to play one of the arcade games, and see if you can beat the high score. From there you can browse a large selection of toys, figurines, comics, trades, books, and games/accessories.
Did you know that Nancy Drew has a comic book? Thanks to the team at Happy Harbour, I'm the proud owner of Nancy Drew Vampire Slayer.
Are you just starting to get into comics? Not sure where to start? Ask one of the helpful staff, and quicker than J. Jonah Jameson shouts an order, you'll have an armful of comics to give a whirl.
If you're looking for some gaming supplies or comics, and they don't seem to have any on hand, talk to the staff. Jay and his team will order it in for you! Want the next issue of Chew or Zatara? Let them know, and they'll call you when it comes in, and you can come and pick it up.
Whether you're a serious collector, or a comic book newbie, the staff are cheerful and willing to help. So, why not visit your Friendly Neighbourhood Comic Book Store?
There's a reason they're award-winning.Listed in: Downtown Life, Best in Edmonton

You have to be a pretty great comic store to be nominated for a Eisner Award. Happy Harbor has been nominated a number of times, and has made it into the four finalists.
Happy Harbor is a trendy, friendly comic store with a great staff and plenty of geeky stuff to peruse. And anything they don't have in store, they'll bust their butts to get in for you.
The other thing to note about Happy Harbor is that owner Jay is a community supporter. He is involved in plenty of events and charities around Edmonton, and makes an effort to bring cool people to his store for his customers.
Jay is also a tremendous supporter of the local arts and comic scene. He not only carries indie comics in store, he also helps many local comic writers get published, and runs workshops for them.
Happy Harbor isn't just about selling comics - it's about promoting, celebrating, and supporting the comic industry, especially on the local level. -

I just moved to Edmonton and have visited just about every comic and toy store in the past few months.
Happy Harbour is easily the best comic/toy store in town. -

Happy Harbor's flagship store has moved to 12226 - Jasper Ave, which is just around the corner from it's old 124 Street location, and ironically, you go downstairs instead of upstairs to get to the store. Unfortunately, that means that the store remains as handicap inaccessible as it has always been.
Otherwise, it's Happy Harbor, Edmonton's Best Comic Store. Volume 1, this one, downtown, is probably still the best for the mainstream collector. Volume 2 in the NE is better for toys and merch. Volume 3, off Whyte, is better for Indies. Each store has it's own character. What makes all Happy Harbor's the best is the great people that they have working in them. Downtown always seems to have a broader selection of mainstream books, back issues, compilations and graphic novels in stock. The new space is still a work in progress, but it's bigger and airier than the old comic attic.
Happy Harbor, always worth a stop to free the inner geek. -
Review from Paula K.
With three locations in Edmonton, Happy Harbor is a comic book collector's dream come true. Owned by a comics enthusiast, Happy Harbor has a wide selection of titles, from fantasy to science fiction to children's and everything in-between.
There is also a selection of movie and comic book-themed toys, such as figurines. Avid collectors are encouraged to have files, where they can subscribe to their favourite titles and pick them up in-store. Happy Harbor has supplies for serious collectors, such as bags and boards to keep those comics in mint condition.
Happy Harbor also supports aspiring comic book writers and artists by having in-store demonstrations, competitions, and even bringing artists into schools to inspire the children. Located a couple of flights up form street level, entering Happy Harbor is like entering a world of fun and fantasy. For kids or kids at heart, this is definitely the best comics store in the city.Listed in: Spending Spree

I LOVE this place. One of the best selections of all things comic-related in Edmonton. When we were desperately seeking an older television show, they tracked the series down and ordered it for us at no extra charge. Speedy service, all staff are knowledgeable, and they support local charities. Wonderful place to visit!

Here's the difference between Happy Harbor and any other comic store I've ever been to. The people are nice! They greet you! They look at you! They don't talk down to you regardless of your comic book knowledge. It's inviting, and a great place to shop or come by and chat. Plus, all of the extra stuff they put on, like the comic challenges, or free comic book day fun. It's the best comic store ever.
