Don't let the bad lighting at this grocery store scare you off.  If you happen to be in the area, the prices for produce and meats are great compared to downtown.

I happen to love their meat section because they always seem to have specials like buy two packages and get one free.  Even though I cannot read Korean, the manager for meats will usually tell me what promotions are available while I'm perusing the area.  Awesome!

I'll also stock up on Korean snacks and ingredients, but I love how great their fruit and veggie section is--cheap!!!  You can usually sample the fruits since a lady is their slicing and displaying what's on sale.

The best time to come here is after a trip out to the burbs for a Korean meal.  Then I walk off my lunch/dinner at Han Nam and get my thrifty shopping done.  It helps justify the long journey out to Burnaby.

I only ever come here for kim chi. I know nothing of Korean food except for the spicy condiment. (I should make an effort to learn more about the cuisine.)

That said, the place is not well lit and has a cluttered, unkempt atmosphere. It feels a little filthy too, but likely just a side-effect of the poor lighting.

I may try H-Mart, across the street soon. I've been refraining from doing so, simply because Hannam are the smaller competitor. I'm always rooting for the underdog.

Korean worse-lit supermarket than Superstore? Yes. But they have some of the best pastries and goodies in their bakery.

Loves the cream puffs and random Korean specials. In the winter, they have the red bean stuffed pancakes *double drool* that they make outside on their quaint cart.

All time favourite is the homemade coffee popsicle from their bakery. $1 for a popsicle version of Haagen Daaz Coffee ice cream *uncontrollable drool*.

I came here after good experiences at most of the other lower mainland H-Marts and other Korean markets. While it does do a pretty good job of being a facsimile, I must say it's one of the weaker ones I've visited.

It has about 1/4 of the selection of the big markets but it does manage to at least have every section, though in condensed versions. I found some of what I was looking for but was out of luck for a lot of stuff. Even at best Korean markets tend to lack a lot of western goods and staples and that's what was clearly completely absent here.

that said it still has some of the great , fresh Korean baking and a solid selection of meats and vegetables. So, yes, It can suffice as a market, but I'd definitely head to some of the other places just around the corner if I'm looking to fill a shopping list.

This is a mid-sized Korean supermarket across North Rd. from the larger and more modern H-Mart.  By the side entrance there is a small food counter that offers a selection of Korean food for a quick bite.  In the Winter months you can frequently find a taiyaki vendor out front serving up hot fresh treats - which are the highlight for me.

I have been coming here for a while and never thought of writing a review.  OK, here we go. Well I am in somewhat agreement with others, that yes it is not a very "fancy" store or even updated.  However it has most everything that I need, from a selection of Japanese and Chinese sauces, and condiments. To a great selection of fruits and vegetables, and fish.  Not to mention rice cookers and bidet toilet seats; you can't go wrong with the Cuckoo Brand (?).  And now they have opened a small deli/food court, bonus.  All the more reason to stop in.
