No, seriously.  5/5 stars for what this hotel is.  It's not the Fairmont or the Westin.  But it's clean, safe, fully equipped, and complimentary breakfast to boot!  And what really made it a 5 was the reception I received.  I arrived at about 2130h and the one person at the desk was so friendly and so real.  She genuinely wanted me to have a good experience and was helpful with several questions.  I'd stay here again anytime.  Pool, hot tub, adult workout room, big warm fireplace on a cold winter's night in one part of the lobby, and a TV with couches in the lobby.

I've been staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites  for a few months now, while I travel for my job.

The Hampton Inn usually offers much lower prices than hotels in the downtown area, and the cTrain can get me from the hotel to downtown in about 15 minutes on most days.  Furthermore, the Hampton Inn offers free wireless internet and free continental breakfast to all guests, regardless of their Hilton HHonors member status.

However, there are 2 things I dislike about the Hampton Inn that would keep me from staying here if other hotel prices were comparable:
First off, the bottom of the bath tub is very rounded (as are most Hampton Inn bath tubs) and it is hard to keep balance sometimes when taking a shower.
Additionally, the floors are very thin, and the doors are very loud.  I can hear when any of the people within 50 feet of me open or close their doors, and often times it sounds like there is an elephant in the room above me.  Usually the "elephants" quiet down around 10:30pm, so I can get some sleep, but it does cause me to have less rest and can become bothersome at times.

it's not bad. the entry area is nice - with a good fireplace, and the breakfast is good.  The parking is safe and I really appreciate that they changed the elevators to require a key when you want to go to your floor - as a single woman traveller, this is awesome.
However, I wasn't a fan of the old decor, with a couch that had seen better days, and a desk chair that has seen so many seated at it that it had lost most of its padding.

The sheets and the room were some of the cleanest I've seen in a while, so it balances out.

As for the area, I lived 5 blocks from here for two years and never, ever had an issue with safety. In fact, it's probably one of the safest areas to be in, in Calgary.

Another great experience at a Hampton inn!  Super clean and a great staff!  Near the train stop.  The only reason it's not getting a 5 is because it's in a sketchy part of town.  I like to run after work, and I did not feel comfortable/safe doing that in this neighborhood.  Alternatively the fitness center was clean and the treadmill was modern!
