By default, I love Swedish bakeries! They say that taste and smell is a direct link to your childhood and that is certainly true in my case. At Hälsö Konditori you'll find baskets of fresh bread, cakes and pastries along with other prepackaged Swedish goodies like lingonberry jam, candy, and pickled herring. My favourite, for nostalgic purposes, is the semlor that they traditionally serve leading up to Fat Tuesday before Lent. It's a sweet bun sliced in half with marzipan and whipped cream. Delicious!
Unfortunately, the last time I was at Hälsö, they'd gotten rid of the seating. Now it's just a place to grab and go. I prefer to linger over my nostalgia and wish they'd bring the tables back. -

I'm sad. Halso is now a French bakery. I'll have to resort to making my own chokladbollar and prinsesstrta.
I WAS a big fan of this place. Alas, I'll have to wait until I go back to Sweden for delicious Swedish treats.
