Ever since I took a spin on a bike with I Heart Bikes, I've been on a mad quest for a new bike, and I've done a thorough amount of research throughout the city. Frankly, there are a ton of options out there, and a lot of great staff at all the shops that just want to help you out. It's awesome.
Alas, this is where I made a purchase. I'm a new and proud owner of a Norco Yorkville, a very moderately priced city hybrid bike! When I came into the shop, there were a couple staff on hand, and they were easy to talk to about what I wanted. They are so laid back, that you'll feel right at home.
I test rode two models, and was able to quickly get a sense of which was suited for me. Once I committed to purchase, they helped me pick out some accessories (fenders, kickstand, rack, bell, and a helmet, natch!) and got everything ready to go so I could ride home with it as soon as my bike was adjusted and fitted.
It was great to talk to these folks about committing to using a bike for more than just leisure riding, and they were full of tips and tricks on locking up your bike and when to come in for regular maintenance. They also have an awesome selection of accessories that I know I'll soon be coming back for - dutch inspired panniers that double as purses and polka-dotted seat covers, to name a couple.
Overall, they have a selection of road bikes and cruisers that make riding look like fun. Sure, serious riders are welcome here, but of all the bike shops I've visited, this place fitted best with my vision of what "riding a bike" should be and will be for me; I'm a part-time rider who just wants a nice way to get out when the weather is good and run some errands on it. They've got serious mountain bikes, too, though!
Oh - and if you are interested in a tandem bike ride, they're doing rentals! Get out there and have fun!Listed in: Quinpool Favs

After having visited several bike shops in the hopes of finding a road bike suitable for casual use after a twenty year absence from cycling, the Halifax Cycle Gallery provided all I required and got me on the road on a new bike that fits me well and is a joy to ride.
I introduced myself as a man that wanted to get back on a bike after a twenty year absence due to a car accident making biking impossible for most of that time.
I was treated with warmth, friendliness, curtesy and respect. All my questions were well answered in terms of my expressed knowledge and needs, suggestions were provided and I was encouraged to ride different bicycle designs to see which I found most comfortable and suitable. I did so and found something almost but not quite right for me. It turned out it was the handlebars that were not working well for me, and so after discussion with employees Jenna and Adam, Adam very kindly changed the handlebars for me to see if that would allow for a comfortable riding position for me. He did this twice for me, allowing me to ride in three different positions.
I felt I was treated with respect and courtesy, and I very much felt that my needs were being considered.
I went around to other bike shops and due to poor experiences (other than at Jack Nauss) I returned to Halifax Cycle Gallery and once again had Adam change the handlebars on the bike I was most interested in and he did so twice more! The effort shown to provide something suitable for me was something I greatly appreciated and found invaluable.
I found a set of handlebars that works very well for my needs and riding position and so very happily purchased the bike as well as several additional items (two locks, bike helmet, fenders, bike rack, water bottle holder and panniers).
The handlebars are not in the colour of my choice and as such Adam has ordered in what I want and will exchange the handlebars (at no additional cost) I now have for the same model in my colour choice. Until the handlebars come in I have been allowed to use their handlebars.
Their customer service is excellent and their attitude and overall operation is a fine example of how a business should operate.
I am a very happy customer and highly recommend anyone in the market for a bicycle consult these fine folk as part of their bicycle buying research.
I am very happy to support this small business. I hope others do as well.
Jenna and Adam both offered courteous, respectful and very helpful assistance to me, and I thank them both very much for all their assistance.
My experience at the other bike shops made the process feel a chore, at HCG I had fun, and I very much enjoyed the experience. Thank you Jenna and Adam. -

At the Cycle Gallery you'll find an atypical selection of bikes. These bikes are not made to be the fastest, or the best off road, instead they tend to be good all-rounders. You should have a look if you would like a comfortable commuter or weekend trail rider.
They also carry a decent selection of accessories, especially racks and baskets. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they won't push a bike that doesn't fit your needs onto you.
Bikes for most riders needs, you should have a look here to see if they have the bike you have been waiting to find.Listed in: Biker Bliss

The Halifax Cycle Gallery is a new shop opened just in time for the spring and summer bike season. It is located on Quinpool Road, and while it is short on ambiance, it is big on what really counts.
The gallery has a lot of great bikes for all sorts of purposes. From speed to functionality, if you're looking for a city bike, chances are they will have it. However, like everything quality these days, it does come at a price. The bikes are quite expensive, but for those of you looking to make an investment in your health and to cut back on transportation costs, the prices should not be an issue.
Overall, I would recommend the bike gallery to those of you who are casual riders looking to make the jump to something a little more serious. Definitely worth a look and your money.
Hot Hint: Bike repairs and maintenance are available for any bike onsite. -

The Halifax Cycle Gallery is a dreamboat of smooth riding, easy moving, two wheeled, self propelled transport. If you are in the market for a curvaceous, sexy saddled cycle - this is a spot for you to check out!
Prices range from accessible to way outta reach for some, but that shouldn't stop you from heading in for a gander. As advocates of the "slow bike movement," the shop's mandate is to help make biking a normal part of everyday life for all velo-abled people. Not only should bikes be used as easy ways to zip around, but also as a nice leisurely way to take in the cityscape, concomitantly creating enjoyment and healthy living.
From leather Brooks saddles to Basil Bags, from fixed gear to not, this shop has a plethora of cycle savvy merch, sure to have any bike lover drooling in seconds.
Check out their website, which has some fantastic pics of chic women cruising Parisian streets on their velos. Head on into the shop pronto to investigate all that is hip about the art of cycling!
