I don't know of a good salon in Richmond and just found this place since I needed to stop off at Safeway. The price seemed somewhat reasonable (probably a bit cheaper than what I can find in NY) so I made a note to try it out.
Since they weren't open at that current time, I called later in the day to see when there was an opening. Someone picked up the phone and said if I could make it there in 10 minutes, she'd see me so I got into the car and headed over.
Inside is rather large, at least more than 10 chairs. It's roomy and bright and there's a waiting area with magazines. I sat in Nina G.'s seat and told her (as well as showed her with a picture) what I wanted. I told her what I wanted as well as showed her a picture and she replied, "I can't see very well." Now, that should have sent off warning signals but I ignored them...
Off we went to get my hair washed and then she proceeded to snip away my hair, constantly asking me to "show the picture again." We didn't talk much (which is fine by me) and as she worked on my right side, I could see the style coming together...until she started the other side and her next appointment walked in.
She worked on the left side for about 5-10 minutes (clearly noticing that I had more hair on that side vs. the right side) when she said, "I don't know anymore. It's close enough." Now, I don't want a hair stylist to say "close enough!" At that moment, I didn't care if it's close to the picture...I just want my hair even on both sides! As I glanced at myself in the mirror, she started putting away things, clearly cleaning up. I was unhappy with the result so told her she needed to cut more on the left side and said "Come back tomorrow and I'll cut it. Go home and style it and if you don't like it, come back and I'll fix it."
Her reason for kicking me out of her chair was because she had another customer waiting and "he shouldn't have to wait too long." So I paid my $21 ($20 cut plus $1 tax) without a tip and left the place with one side slightly longer than the other.
I didn't go back the next day. Instead, I just cut the unevenness myself. I am somewhat happier with my hair, and recommend to other Yelpers not to come here.Listed in: O Canada!

Just went to hair masters over the weekend and the lady at the front - get name was Hamy, provided the WORST service I have experienced in my entire life.
She was on the phone when I came in. I had my niece with me and she needed a hair cut. We awaited some acknowledgment that we were standing there, but Hamy ignored us. She got off the phone and started writing things down. About 1 min later I asked Hamy if we could eg a haircut. She looked at my niece who is African American and her hair is quite curly, and said she couldn't. I said ok we can go somewhere else, and she waived her hand and told us to go somewhere else. I couldn't believe it.
She ended up yelling at us and commenting some rude remarks.
DO NOT GO THERE!!
Absolutely terrible.
