What can I say about Labon? I've been getting my hair taken car of this guy for about 11 years now. He doesn't advertise, and is always busy!
Labon is a Japanese trained stylist, but worked mainly in Hong Kong before coming over here to Vancouver. He briefly worked at Purple Headquarters in Richmond before opening a salon on his own.
He's a one man show, with an assistant helping to wash hair and helping him out with color etc...
The best thing about this place is the level of service he offers his customers. Whether it's your first time or 100th time, he'll make you feel like you're a friend getting your hair cut rather than a customer.
If you don't have an idea how you want your hair cut or styled, just ask him for advice and you can't go wrong.
That being said, you have to be aware that his style is more asian (Hong Kong, Japanese) influenced. But he can do a regular crew cut or anything you ask. If you take the time to talk with him, he'll always explain what he's doing and why he's cutting it the way he is. Best of all, he'll always teach you and give you advice on how to style your hair, so you can always look like you 'just stepped out of a salon!'.
Call ahead to make an appointment, he's always busy. And as with most salons and one man operations, he might not always be right on time, but your haircut will be well worth the wait. He won't rush other's hair to get to you, and he won't rush YOUR hair to get to the next appointment! -
Review from Bob P.

Went to this place as it was close to my work and had a good review. The place is very clean and updated (not an old hole-in-the-wall). Good service - even offered some hot fresh tea. Having had many haircuts in Japanese salons and seeing that the stylist here was Japanese trained I was a bit concerned when he didn't appear to use the same cutting techniques I was used to. Also, I thought the price was a bit high for a one-stylist salon in Richmond ~$50 for men's cut.
Alas, when all was done, my fears were alleviated. The cut turned out very well. I usually ask for a more conservative Asian layered cut and not so much of the young Japanese trendy styles. He hit the nail on the head. More importantly, what I found was that my hair style continued to look great even after four weeks. That's rare for a guy with short hair. My hair usually starts to look straggly and uneven by the fourth or fifth week. Not so for my current cut! So, I guess for paying a bit more, I do get my money's worth :-)
