Review from Elaine K.
This is a small Korean food mart. I basically know nothing about Korean food, so I basically walked the aisles and amused myself with the Engrish and cute cartoon laden products. I purchased a tub of snack-sized seaweed for $2, which I was super happy about. (update, less than a week later, the tub is almost empty)
The place has a ton of stuff from confections, to groceries, to bowls and hot water holders.
It might be a good spot to go to if you lived in the area, but not really someplace I'd travel to get to. -
Review from Karl R.
Green Mart is dead (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...). Long live H Mart Finch. H Mart Finch should not be confused with H Mart North York which is about a 10 minute walk south. Mo' H Mo betta, I say.
The H Mart crew have increased aisle space, removing one of Green Mart's shelf rows. It's a bit more spacious than H Mart North York. They have a little back shelf with individually wrapped Korean WTF pastries. There's no more boongabang. As well they removed Green Mart's little butcher counter in back. They have two operating cashes and a little pipe railing to help delineate where the line should form. Don't get me started on motherland line culture.
H Mart closes at midnight, unlike Green Mart which was open 24 hours (although sometimes back in the motherland places claim to be open 25 or 26 hours... which is either intended to imply they're really keen to be open all the time or they don't like the idea of an unlucky 4 being on their sign so they round up to 25 or 26). I'm not really much of a night person these days and don't much need kimchi, squid, or instant noodles at 3 am but this end of Toronto is wall-to-wall Korean students who do spend roughly 26 hours studying and I'm sure a 24/25/26 hour Korean grocery store was of some comfort.
