    VIBE
This location is not bad. It's a bit crowded on the weekend but savvy shoppers know to come late on a Saturday or on Monday/Tuesday evenings when stock is new for the week and nobody is around.
It is true that different locations have different items.

    THE GOODS
If you are looking for leggings, this is the location you will find them. They are comfortable and cheap at $12-13. I feel they have a sportier selection here as well. I also tend to find better accessories here too.

    OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK
Always worth popping in. It's Queen street after all.

H & M is Swedish, folks, just like Ikea. So, they have tons of cheap stuff, just like Ikea. They have all shapes and sizes, just like Ikea. The stuff looks cheap, most of the time, with a few exceptional items... just like Ikea.

If you see a dress on every third girl on the street, and everyone seems to own the same top, it's H & M, no doubt. Come to think of it, it's like Ikea in that way with furniture that everyone has the same chair and glasses and plates.

    Unlike Ikea, no meatballs.

This H&M location has a chilled atmosphere and carries more of the younger/cooler stuff - DIVIDED line. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

    Never been in one before.

I'd define it as a place that lets me try the trends without a financial commitment.

Definitely sized for skinny girls (I'm not one)

Missed the upstairs, after reading Connie T's "the upper level also feels a bit too -I'm an adult and need shiny clothes that look complementary to the metrosexual clinging to my side."   Now I'm curious.

Got some skinny pants, and a tube skirt for less than $20.
They only have to last as long as the trend.

I know I have very little fashion sense, but this place makes me feel oooold!
The clothing all looks & feels so cheap.
The skirts and dresses are too short.
The shoes are all plastic .. and the music is too loud.

    I don't get it.

The thing about H & M is that I always go there looking for basics, like a plain black cardigan, plain black skirt or long sleeve stripy T and I can never find it. When I find the item I'm looking for it has some annoying fit, an added zipper that does nothing or it's an awful material. I've been here quite a few times but the only thing I can remember buying is socks.
I think H & M tries to keep up with designer trends but they can never pull them off properly. I know H & M works for some people but if I'm in the mood for a hip chain clothing store I'd rather spend a little more(sometimes not though) and shop at Urban Outfitters.

Normally I hate an H&M...but this one was less messy and crazy than what I am used to back home in NYC.

Low prices, so many things to buy...but I grabbed only a shirt or two. I would definitely recommend checking this place out when you are in Toronto.

Everyone knows H&M at this point: big chain, trendy clothes, cheap prices. As for this location, there are several reasons why it's a decent place to shop:

-Location -- This way I don't have to go all the way to the Eaton Centre and deal with the tourist masses. As much as Queen St is another tourist town, it's not nearly as bad as Yonge and Dundas.

-Selection -- They have a decent selection of their Divided line (That's the "trendier" line, at the front of the store) and they are generally well-stocked on the rest of their stuff upstairs. Also this location has a decent Men's selection, which some of their stores don't carry at all.

-Staff -- Not the most helpful in the world, but definitely not rude. They're there when you need them.

And finally, for H&M as a whole, I agree with Amanda -- this isn't a place to buy a good-quality skirt that you're going to wear to work everyday. This is, however, a good place to buy a trendy blouse that you will probably only wear a couple of times. I'd say buy good quality basics and leave the trends to H&M -- when it falls apart, it'll be out of style anyways.

I'm not sure why this particular location doesn't thrill me so much. H&M seems like a great store when it's in the vicinity of lesser chains, but when you're in an area full of consignment stores and funky boutiques just down the road, it's hard to splurge a similar amount of money on something your friends and co-workers already own.

The selection at this store nowhere near rivals the one at the Eaton Centre, and the upper level also feels a bit too "I'm an adult and need shiny clothes that look complementary to the metrosexual clinging to my side."

But I still have a soft spot in my heart for this H&M. WIth its location on Queen West, it's a nice stop for bags, hats, scarves, and that quick pick-me-up on my way home.

Every time I go through my wardrobe, I am always so disappointed that I bought so many poor quality items from H & M that fall apart after one season. I could have used that money to buy fewer, better made items. But that's just a sign of our society - we want lots of stuff for really cheap, regardless of how well it's made.

I do think that for a certain person on a certain budget (like a high school or college student) this is a great place to get cheap staples. But I just find everything I've purchased here doesn't really stand the test of time. When this place came to Toronto, you couldn't even get into the store, but I think now people are realizing, just like they did with American Eagle and Old Navy, just because they're new stores to Canada, it doesn't mean they're going to be god's gift to fashion.

If you need some basics, pick them up here. Otherwise, I wouldn't waste your money.

I too am not a fan of H&M. I find their clothes flimsy, generic and trendy and for their price tag I'd expect more. Mind you, if you can find stuff on sale here, there are deals to made, you just have to search...

This H&M unlike a lot of other ones I've been too is fairy clean and organized.  Everything is nicely organized and things are places back in their correct location, so you aren't searching through racks to see if the size/style you want has been misplaced somewhere else. They have a decent sale section as well.. H&M is what it is, and if you like what it is, then I can't really complain about this store.

This is another store I wish was in Ottawa. It's true that the clothing is cheap, but it's not as poorly made as some other cheap clothing chains and a lot less tacky. For that reason, I would disagree that this is a place to go for wardrobe staples. The clothing will fall apart after a year or so and H & M isn't about providing staples anyway. It's about providing a much cheaper version of what's in style at the moment. If this is the style you want to embrace, even just a little, H & M is a great place to go to find items that accentuate your trendy look.

This two story building has a lot of clothes to choose from and it's not too crowded. No sales clerks ever approach me, but that's what I prefer anyway.

Lots of looks straight from the runway for less-but items go very fast. This location, along with Bloor St. W are less busy and easier to shop at than eaton centre. The reason a shirt here is able to cost a mere $6 (instead of $30) is because of things like only have a few staff working, or not pre-shirking the fabric. The reduced price of something doesn't come out of nowhere-think about it. Sizes at this location are re-stocked 5 days a week, if you can't find the size you need. And as far as getting help from staff, a little politeness goes a long way. You probably wouldn't be keen on going out of your way to help someone who was rude & yelling at you either.

Still a fan of H&M. They consistently offer fun trendy little numbers. But as per the nature of trends, there's an element of it that is disposable. So while the quality isn't quite there, the style and innovation is.
