After our day on the Tundra Buggy, the group decided to go into the Churchill Town Site for dinner. There are a number of places as tourism is a big business here. We chose Gypsy's based on local reputation and the overall welcoming and casual atmosphere. It also seems to be popular locally as the Tundra Buggy owner's son and his family came in later.
Gypsy's is owned and operated by the Da Silva family and includes excellent baked goods, the restaurant, and gifts. One of my Earthwatch collegues is Portuguese and so is the Da Silva family. And for that connection, we enjoyed a fine bottle of Portuguese brandy that evening.
It was a very enjoyable evening on many levels. Our Earthwatch team was enjoying each other's company, the food was very good, and we were well taken care of by the restaurant. If I'm ever in Churchill again, I will be back.
