Review from Joie T.
I just heart Yelp! Even if you do not Eat, Breathe, and Live YELP like the Yelp ELITES, you can always join in the fun on many of the UYE's and other events such as this TWTVITE! Cheers to Ken S. for a smashing success!
Two communities converged that night, Tweeters and Yelpers! What a combo! I get so excited meeting new people, so it was really interesting to meet and chat and discuss with two hip communities with a love for FOOD!!! And bonus points for setting the event at one of my ALL-TIME-FAVE spots in the T-dot! GUU is a quaint, yet bustling explosion of authentic Japanese culture!
So many amazing highlight that night, where do I begin??? ...
Our special event was held in the back room, with the cut-out floors! And slippers were only permitted! Love this unique cultural seating design!
What added a splash of FUN to the event was the FUNNY Sock + Slipper contest and Trivia Questions. Ken S. was such an amazing organizer, that he offered to answer the Trivia questions for those who didn't have the Twitter App! So no one was excluded from the fun! On the plus side, a good number of peeps joined in the fun and donned their funniest, sexiest, most fashion-forward, most creative socks and slippers, so kudos for those who participated! I think the MOST MEMORABLE was the girl with the Twitter stockings! You are TOO cool for coming up with that!!!
Ken S. and GUU collaborated to created a set menu for us foodies, and it was smart, because when the bill arrived, it was much more organized. Those that drank, or wanted to order extra had to pay extra.
The night didn't end there! GUU gave each table COMPLIMENTARY SUSHI TRAYS! How about that? That's how awesome GUU is and why I am so in love with that place! The atmosphere, the food, the people!
I seriously hadn't had THIS much fun ALL year! Luckily, it's only FEBRUARY, so bring on the TWTVITES!!! -

Despite being on Twitter since 2007, my Tweetup experience is rather lacking. However, if all Tweetups were like #GuuTweetup, I'd be at them every day! :)
First, Ken S is a consummate organizer. No detail was left unchecked, and no Tweeter left behind. The folks at Guu were amazing hosts -- the service was absolutely amazing, and Yoshi (@GuuToronto himself) is just an all around cool cat. Of course, the food was amazing. That pretty much goes without saying. From the fresh sashimi to the juicy fried chicken (Karaage!), everything was perfect.
However, the best part of the evening was getting to meet new people and great new Twitter peeps to follow, all while in one of my favorite restaurants in Toronto.
Thanks, Ken S, Guu, and everyone else for a fabulous evening! -

I had a lot of fun at this Tweetup organized by yelper Ken S at the most venerated of izakayas, Guu Sakabar. It was a real who's who of food focussed Torontonians there, all tweeting, snapping pics, noshing, and getting soused effectively.
We were in the shoes-off portion of Guu where guests sit on tatami mats at sunken tables. There were three cocktails on the docket that night, and I went with the "gingerous." How could I resist? Plum wine, sake, ginger juice and maple syrup. Spicy and sweet all at the same time. I also stole a sip of Avitania B's "I.M.O." which was vodka and apple cider. It tasted so much like apple juice, you'll probably want to keep that one away from the kids. Smooth.
In true Guu form, the eats were mighty enjoyable. From the salad, to the sashimi platter and piles o' fried chicken it was all top drawer.
Oh, and the shoes-off seating of course led to a sock showdown of the most intense degree. My personal favourites had to be a tie between Brian Y's toadstool slippers and Jen C's Twitter-themed tights. I was wearing black ankle socks. Zzzzzz.
Great to see Brian Y, Anne B, Steph L, Jennifer K, Paul H, Jen C and her pal Evelyn, Joie T, Avitania B, Chad M, Yvonne T, Graham R, Joallore A, Danielle P and of course Ken S. Thanks for organizing! Oh, and finally meeting Justine H and Q.H., was a treat. It's so awesome to know that people actually exist. You know?
Obligatory Title Pun: GUU'd to tweet you all!
Menu Readability: The custom menu and name tags for this event were off the hook.
Need to mention: Though I didn't have a mug, thanks be to Sapporo for flooding the place with beers!
What this place teaches me about myself: I'm sure I'm leaving someone out. Darn.Listed in: Not Easily Categorized

Guu Sakabar Tweetup held by me, @inyourmouthTo sponsored by Sapporo and of course Guu.
I had such a blast and am glad so many wonderful Yelpers and Tweeters came out. It was a great mix of the Yelp and Twitter communities. Guu Sakabar were great hosts and I really hope everyone enjoyed themselves that attended. For those who could not make it, I look forward to running in to you again or for the first time, eating, drinking and taking pictures of the same.
Congrats to @AmandaBlake9 and @Shashena for winning the best socks competition. Their prize? Guu has named drinks after each one of them and will be on their menu for the month of February. That's pretty cool! Can't wait to go back to Guu Sakabar and order a "Gingerous Amanda" and a "Shashena IMO."
Thanks to Guu Sakabar for providing complimentary sashimi plates to each table. Such class and just plain awesome.
Thanks to Sapporo Canada for providing wonderful beer mugs to share with the trivia winners and others. -

Nice meeting new twitters and even new yelpers!!
I always like event in a small venue with smaller group ended up I can meet and talk to more people!!
I still have not try that Huge Sapporo draft... I wondering if I ever able to finish that.

As a huge fan of Guu Sakabar I was so excited when I heard about this event. I was slightly concerned I wouldn't be welcome due to my dormant twitter account, but Ken was awesome at ensuring that both my guest and I felt included.
The waitstaff at Guu were fabulous as always and the atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. We really enjoyed the name tags complete with Japanese characters of our names! That was a really neat touch! The best sock competition was also a fun idea!
Those giant Sapporo steins made me realize I should really start working out more...I needed both hands to lift one (and even then it was a struggle)!
Thanks so much for hosting this event, Ken! It was awesome!
