Rabba, G's or Hasty? Rabba got the quality covered, but it's too far from campus. Hasty is cheap but I have to go through some shady streets. G's is close but quality isn't all that.

    Amazing balance.

If I need something, I normally go to G's. Cigs are decent price. They have some hardware items like glues, tapes, papers, cutter knives, rulers, etc. too. Things you might need for school projects.

No comment on meats and veggies since I never bought them. But fruits were fresh everytime I bought them.

I noticed that sometimes their fridge isn't cold enough to keep things cooled or frozen.

At least they are open 24 hours everyday. Their debit machine is occasionally down though. Everyone working at the store is very friendly and kind.

Everything that a student could ever need. I come here at least once a day.

They are overpriced for groceries and don't carry most things (i.e.: chicken breast, etc.). So once a week, I do make the trek down to Metro.

But the ladies here are great! After three visits, they remembered me and even my brand of smokes. This is such a relief from my last convenience store where the man would ask me rudely for ID every. single. time. (even if it was my third time buying smokes that day - cause hey, we all have those days).

Aisles are cramped and filled with stuff. They have the randomest things - shoe polish, tennis balls, chips, ethernet cord - it's like they literally looked inside my brain.

    Will continue to come here.

I dunno whether to love or hate this place.  I think the best way to describe it is...convenient.
I work across the street and its nice that in the dead of winter I can go right across the street for small things like fruit or a drink.  But the deli and the bakery kind of freaks me out- the food looks less than fresh and not very tasty.

BUT the staff here are so lovely.  the old man cashier is always so lovely as he makes conversation with you at the register.

    So it's a-ok.

I don't know what happened to this place. Maybe I have higher standards, but I remember when I first moved into the area 3 years ago, I was really pleased that there was a great supermarket nearby where I can get all my  necessities, AND they sell Compliments products.
Then they renovated or something and the last few times I've been in, I've been severely disappointed.

Don't come here for produce. I could not find a single tomato that wasn't soft and disgusting.  They don't sell sweet potato, and the regular potatoes look like they were the bottom of the pile.
I can never find if there are any meats in there, maybe there it I'm just not looking hard enough.

I did find very good samosa's though.

I just don't like it very much anymore, and as much as I HATE the busy busy Dominion a few blocks down, I'd rather go there to get some quality products (if you can call it that) [or go further down to Bloor's Superfresh]

G's Fine Foods has saved my butt a million times. It's a deli (but I've never eaten any of that junk), and a convenience store, and a grocery store and it's 24-hours.

G's is the spot you pop into on a long shot and find that they have a whole bunch of stuff you just remembered you're out of.

Like it's 3am and you need some contact solution so you pop in, only to find that they sell goat cheese and Starbuck's coffee, tow other products you need. And in that moment, you think, "thank God for G's".

These kind of privately owned joints are few and far between these day and more and more they're disappearing. G's is a local joint worth keeping.

First off, the map that is currently showing for this store isn't right...the store is actually located on the SouthEast corner of Bloor and Huron Streets.  I'm not sure why the map is incorrect, but there you go.

Secondly, this is a great little convenience store in the borderlands between the Annex and Yorkville.  Unless you want to hike West to the Metro or northeast to Whole Paycheck, it is really the only grocery in the area.  For a convenience-deli type store they actually manage a very diverse array of choices, whether you need laundry detergent or a quick bite to eat for lunch.

The main feature of G's is that in addition to a few small aisles of your typical grocery items, there are also small specialty sections, such as fresh produce, deli cooler with presliced meats and cheeses, as well as ready to eat sandwiches and desserts.  There is a selection of baked goods like bagels and rolls, and a hot food deli counter.  The hot food section features a la carte style meals (usually roast chicken, potatoes, meatloaf, mac and cheese, etc) as well as some quick items like Jamaican patties and samosas.

Some of the other things you might want to check out is their pleasingly large selection of upscale or gourmet chocolates and candies, most of which can be found in the area closest to the registers.

Yes, it's a convenience-store, but it's a pretty decent one. It's larger than it looks, and if you're willing to search, you can find a respectable enough variety of groceries (the produce is a little underwhelming, and most of the bakery-products are cheap packaged things full of preservatives; but there are also some nice organic fruit-juices, and sometimes nice bread from ACE Bakery). The employees sometimes have trouble keeping things moving along at the checkouts, but at least they're all friendly. My only big complaint about G's is the soundtrack: in some aisles you can hear the radio, but in most of the store all that there is in terms of background music is a looped 10-second selection of techno with a pause after it. You hear it once, you like it; you hear it three times, you wonder when they're going to change it; you hear it 45 times, and you never want to set foot in the store again.
