Grilled Frommage closed in 2011. But for die hards I heard they have re opened some where in Gastown.

So much frickin' potential! You guys (and girls) - come on! At what part did you stop caring about your product? It couldn't have been while you were naming all 60+ of those sammies (K-Ched, Missionary, Rubber Chicken etc), or when you ravaged every thrift store and friend's basements for Phil Collins album covers to decorate the walls, action figures to line the display cases and a Super Nintendo set for the "living room." And certainly it wasn't when you painstakingly "crafted" your cash register with yellow felt to look like swiss.

You could be so awesome, but sadly, my experience's fall from grace started when I ordered a K-Ched (bacon, chicken - well, deli meat, cheddar and mayo on multigrain) took over 10 minutes to arrive. That was just long enough for me to slurp my luke warm, from a can, tomato soup that I had intended on using to dip my grilled cheese and read through all of the descriptions made for the sandwiches. The ingredients tasted like they came from the pre-packaged part of the grocery store. I'm thinking the likes of Armstrong cheddar and Maple Leaf meats made an appearance on my plate, which would be fine if I was camping and made it myself. But for $7 + $3.50 for my soup, I expected, no demanded, more.

A shop dedicated to grilled cheese you say-  whyever not?

With around 60 unique combinations (and a create-your-own) to choose from, there gotta be something that tickles your fancy- unless you don't like grilled cheese.

They were yummy but the cafe was just a little bit... well best way to describe it is comparable to an Amsterdam coffee house, but without the stimulant.

As much as I love grilled cheese, cheetos, and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vagas", I am not sure cheese was the necessary ingredient her!  I will be back and it sure will make the list for the whistler- Vancouver pit stop.

Solid 3.5*.  Had to round it down coz they gave drool monster a tiny plastic cat with his sandwich and I just thought "OMG what if I have to do the Heimlich maneuver on him?

I really enjoyed the novelty factor of this place, the food was fine, but I don't know...like Vicky L. I'm at a bit of a loss for describing the vibe.  I'm not sure it has quite the cachet of an Amsterdam coffee house, but I can understand what she's talking about for sure.

The menu (the laminated one on the table) is crowded, a bit difficult to read and kind of useless - a number of the items are no longer valid, and half the items do not have prices.  I'd suggest sticking to the wall menu.

I had the Blue Suede Shoe (blue cheese, apple and bacon), my boyfriend had The Paris (spiced havarti and banana peppers).  I had a side of potato salad that I shared with him as well.  The sandwiches were fine (just your regular storebought multi-grain) - no mystery to them at all.  You know when you leave a restaurant thinking "holy moly!I could never even try to make anything that tasted even remotely like what I just ate"? Not here.  You'll leave thinking you could have very, very easily have made the exact same thing yourself.

I think next time, I'll pull up the menu online to get some ideas of interesting combinations to try at home.

I've heard about this place who just served grilled cheese and I couldn't believe it, so I had to stop on my way to Whistler this past weekend.

Just off highway 99 turn left at the famous 7 Eleven and Petro Canada and drive into Squamish village. It is located just across from Fields.

The place is narrow but long.  It has a 80s theme with a lot of album covers on the wall, 80s music playing and really tacky frames, booths, kids corner and it even has a "living room" area where Star Wars was on the TV. The cash register is yellow with some black dots, so it looks like a big block of cheese.  Can I say cheesy!.

They are more than 60 kind of grilled cheese to choose from.  Check out the web site for the list. We went for a Fromage a Trois (3 cheeses) and Cheese and Chong (bacon, pickles and mayo).  It is served with a side of salad (?) and some cheese puff.  How can you go wrong? The grilled cheeses were gooey and delicious.  The mayo was a bit too much though.  I think the best is they have beers like Extra Old Stock and a brand called Dude from Prince George. 10$ for a beer and a grilled cheese.  Perfect!

The staff was funny and chatty.  It seems like a Vancouver location is in the work...

So forget about the food chain for your greasy fix on your way to or back from Whistler, go for Grilled Fromage!

The idea is great. I would really like to see this place do well. The owner is a really nice guy and staff are really friendly.

    The problem:

Nothing is homemade or made on site not even the simple side dishes. The cheeses are mainly Kraft Process Cheeses. Would be great if they could have a selection of fresh cheeses and sell them as well.

If they could use quality cheeses and make some homemade sides etc.

I would give them a great review. But what they are serving now is horrible and not edible.

It would not be hard to change a few things to make it a great place.

It's the food that needs to change.

If you ever decide to try the place please pass on my feedback to them.

    It's the cheesiest !

The food is good, not to die for but if your hankering for a grilled cheese sandwich I don't think haute cuisine is your expectation.

the feel of the place is amazing, it really gets you into the whole cheesy mood. hard to describe but worth a visit. tacky albums on hte walls kitsch everywhere and only value beers ( in cans no-less) i love it and it makes me proud that it's in Squamish
