Why have I not been in here before?
Two words for you people:
Maple Latte.
So effin good!!! Maple syrup + coffee + soy = sheer goodness. This place is adorable, and I like that it's not only organic but also fair trade. Their menu looked totally yum, but by the time I got there I had eaten street (faux) meat and soft serve. I could barely pack in the giant bowl of maple goodness on top of it (definitely a case of eyes bigger than stomach).
I can't wait to come back to sample all the goodness. Forget Starbucks. -

Sorry to report that the Greenavi Cafe is officially closed up. :( Another great little spot bites the dust.

I recently headed straight for Greenavi on recommendation by a friend who raved about their baked goods and spacious interior. I had a bunch of stuff to do and I'm happy to add Greenavi to my list of relaxing places to work with wifi and good music to listen to. The decor is beautiful, with high ceilings and exposed brick walls throughout.
Any place that plays Department Of Eagles, Bon Iver and Deerhunter is trumps with me. Kudos for essentially offering me a personalized playlist during my visit!
I ordered a hot chocolate (check the pics) that had a really awe-inspiring bit of "latte art" in the shape of a flower. It was so pretty I was apprehensive about ruining it! I also tried an apple butter cookie (similar to a thumbprint cookie) that was made with some sort of oatmeal base. Yummy! When you buy something at the counter you can pick up a wifi passcode to use. The wifi connection is reliable and other than the music (note: louder at the back where the speaker's located) you can work in peace as the other patrons are pretty quiet and spread far apart.
Greenavi also has more substantial meals like paninis, soups and smoothies but I was content with my snack and hot chocolate. Next time! -

I have to thank Yelp for finding this one. I used the "Search for" function and the rest is history.
Basically, this place is just what others have said.
I'll just add that Greenavi is somehow quaint and quiet while having a regular flow of customers.
Minus one star b/c my ginger oatmeal cookie wasn't breath-taking. -

You know, the more and more I come to this place, the more I like it. It's huge, clean, has wifi, and I feel like I'm getting a lot of work done in here, even if I am checking facebook every five minutes.

It bothers me when places have to hammer the word "organic" in everything they do. I suppose it's… Read more »

Merely doing my best to get out of the sun, I stumbled in to the first cafe that wasn't owned by a major corporation. What a delightful coinscidence that they should have gluten-free/vegan baked goods! A counter separated the wonderful gent who sold me the "Cashew Cookies" but nothing will stop my eternal gratitude for introducing me to their mouth watering bliss. I bought 3 more to take back to my vegan, celiac father. (he will quickly forget the crappy book I bought for his birthday) I can't say much for the beverages, as I ordered a macha latte which I am extremely particular about (no one makes em like I do!) but I look forward to coming back for more guilt-free sin on my next trip to Toronto.

This coffee shop is great. It has great tables to work/read the paper/chat. The coffee is free trade. There is free internet, unlike the big chains around town. The brick walls provide a nice and cool atmosphere. I would recommend it to anybody who is looking for a nice non-chain coffee shop on Queen West.
