We were back again for a quick, hot and cheap meal. I love being able to arrive, pick what I want to eat and get my food served hot within 10 mins. Service is fast, friendly and efficient. Boy is that Mongolian grill awesome and the person cooking the food is pretty swell as well.
Thanks for satisfying my hunger quicker than anyone I know. It's fast food the healthy way!Listed in: Cheap Eats

We should have known better. When we walked in the door, the only customers were dreadlocks and ex-cons. We should have immediately turned around and walked out. I would have been so much happier with a 7-11 hotdog.
You wonder how you could go wrong in a place where you essentially make your own meal. Select your veg, meat, noodles... in fact have as much as you want. It's ALL YOU CAN EAT!!!!
I'm sure Great Han had a brilliant idea when they first opened. They would be offer a good meal on Main at a competitive price and serve some sweet Mongolian BBQ. People would love that. I'm sure they did.........Then the college boys and occupiers found this place and it all went to shit. Trying to keep up with the ravenous appetites of young men and college dares, GH began watering down their sauces to the point where it would be inedible for almost anyone. Except college boys. As long as there's lots to eat, it was going to be delicious.
We were originally planning on going to House of Dosas, but there was a lineup to see how long the lineup was. In our desperate attempt to get something decent in a timely manner, we skipped over to Great Han and sadly slumped out with a belly full of brown.
I asked my wife as we were driving away if she would like to stop in an alley to purge so we could have a do-over. We were both tempted. -

I'm not a big fan of mongolian BBQ, but Ainsley forced me! Really, he did.
All you can eat? Pretty good price. I had one bowl and was full. Then I had another bowl of mostly meat. Ainsley had 1 just meat bowl. I think we rolled out of there. Paired with the cheap $3 beer, it was a-ok.
Food: pork, chicken, beef and lamb. No tofu option. I like a little tofu in my meat and veggies. I feel sad if the vegetarians came here and had no protein. Don't go here, vegetarians.
Salad? That means shredded lettuce and sad looking vegetables with mystery dressing. Soup? Didn't even bother.
I would have liked a better selection of veggies and sauces that didn't look watered down, but alas, I cannot have everything I want.
Oh, did I mention $3 beers, mmmm. -

Mmmm me eat grilled food.
Pork slices with veg's and sauce, ya, me put lots of sauce, even peanut oil, me make mess.
Man with sticks grills my mess, smell good, me eat with strange melting chips.
Full, happy, time I go home. -

Always been a big fan! Yes the decor and whatever is crap and run down but who cares, this is a place you go to for a cheap healthy huge meal when your on the go or whatever. When I first travelled to Vancouver on a roadtrip I was living in a Van and we would park after the beach all day and come here and fill up for a day, seriously this was like 5 years ago. When your poor and on a budget this place rocks, they are also licensed and have cheap beer, win!! Not a place id go on a date but great for anything else. They have pineapples and a zillion sauces and great for meat eaters or veggies as they have tofu as well as all the meat. I dig these kind of joints when u just gotta eat, perfect for after a beach or sports or swimming or something when ur just starving as its the fastest ever(cooked in front of your eyes immediately) yum! i should go back soon me thinks

Some friends and I were headed to a sushi place on Main when we happened to spot the sign for this as we were driving by. Put on the brakes! Mongolian BBQ FTW!
It was exactly as we expected it would be when we walked in - definitely a hole in the wall but one that has a decent selection of frozen meat and veggies (no seafood but maybe that's better - see above, hole in the wall) plus a large variety of sauces to choose from when creating your very own personal stir-fry.
I dig places like this because you can actually see your ingredients and how they're cooked. So healthy. And even if you don't know exactly how fresh everything is, it looks fine and it gets cooked at super high heat right in front of your eyes so no worries anyways. With regard to the sauces, I'm sort of an everything kind of girl but I'll warn you now, if you choose to include their curry sauce prepare for it to overpower everything else (mmm... yellow Glico curry...).
Personally I don't think I could do more than one bowl so the all you can eat option is a bit lost on me and next time I go I'd likely go with the cheaper take-out option. I'm not sure if you get the spring rolls that are included with an eat-in meal with take-out but that's probably okay considering ours were hovering between room temperature and cold. It was really the only complaint I have. You can't go wrong with Mongolian BBQ! Especially when it's cheap-all-you-can-eat as opposed to holy-expensive-pay-by-weight (I'm looking at you, Mongolie Grill).Listed in: Asian Eats

$7 for take out or $11 for all-you-can-eat?
Yes please.
No frills, all taste and fast service.
Plus, they always have pineapples!
(And they're never as crowded as the Mongolie BBQ on Denman so you barely ever have to wait!) -

Here's another Mongolian place (very similar to the one on Denman by Alberni) where you get to pick what you want to eat. I haven't come here in awhile, but my mom usually just picks up take out for me from here. Why? The owner is a close friend of my mom's.
It's pretty inexpensive food that you get to pick yourself, and the sauces too. So it's unique like that. I agree about the cleanliness, I'll let the owner know. As for service, I remember my mom mentioning that she's been having a bit of trouble hiring new people, most of them being foreign people on working visas. So gave the lady a break. It's not bad for the price you pay, and I know all the veggies are fresh. Dora (owner) goes out every morning to go buy them from the grocery store.
Good place to go if you're really hungry but don't want to spend a lot. Plus you get to pick what your food will taste like! -

Definitely not a fancy option but pretty good for the price. If you love Mongolian style food you'll be happy here.

When my boyfriend and I are super hungry and in need of something that's fast and cheap we always head to Mongolie Grill. For just $15 you can get an "all you can eat" dinner of your choice.
You're greeted as you walk in and seated in a booth or at table. A waitress will then bring you some spring rolls, soup, and prawn crackers - a very nice touch. Then just grab a bowl, fill it up with pork, beef, or chicken, add noodles if you desire, an abundance of vegetables, concoct your sauce (black bean, soy, mango jam, chili, sesame, and so on), and then give your creation to the cook who'll fry up your healthy dinner on a large circular hot plate. Your meal is then brought over to your table for you to enjoy with a nice glass of wine or beer.
Unfortunately for me I can never finish more than one bowl so the "all you can eat" special is a little lost on me. My boyfriend however, always goes up for seconds and sometimes thirds.
This is a delicious, tasty treat that never fails to satisfy our hunger. I highly recommend it if you're in the mood for something casual, fun, fast, and simple. -

another little hole in the wall on main!!
as i continue down my list of main street hideouts that i need to try, i come across this only by scent. the smells that seep through the doorway is very inviting.
"come on in beki...pick whatever you want from our choice of fresh veggies and frozen meats...you even get to create your own sauce depending on what your tastebuds desire today..."
that little voice won...many many times....
i love the chill atmosphere. people are so friendly! not fancy, but who cares, i came to eat! love the all-you-can eat option...i always end up with seconds. each bowl delivering new choices and tastes!
its kinda cool watching the chef get onto that big round grill and cookin your food. the way it is cooked, it is very healthy for you...just go easy on the sauces!!Listed in: My MAIN finds

I have been to all of the Mongolian BBQ's in Vancouver and this one is not one of the better ones. The service is good and friendly but their sauces seem to be watered down. We have gone a few times and it is the same each time. They do have two different noodle types which is nice, but these are all only personal preference.

Good value for what you pay. You get a lot of food, but aside from the grilled bbq, there's little to the salad and watery miso soup. The service is quick and nice. They have a Chinese beer for $3, which is kinda yummy. This Mongolian grill has a few less options for vegetarians than others.
