History

Established in 1939

The King family's business history in Penticton began in the early 1900s when W.R. King returned from the Alaska gold fields and started W.R. King and Co., a department store located in downtown Penticton.
In 1939 , after his father's business fell victim to the depression, son Grant started his own business, Grant King Men's Wear in the very location the store stands today.
In the late 1940s, Stan McPherson joined the firm, later becoming a partner. Still later, he bought the company. He retired in 1988, at which time his son Doug and wife Karen, bought the business.
Doug and Karen continue to operate the store with the values handed down from Grant King and Doug's dad Stan. They offer a tremendous selection of the best quality merchandise and provide superior service.
