This place has some of the best breakfast food I've ever had, and the prices are low. All of their breakfast specials are delicious, the portions are large, and they are inexpensive. The omelette special is particularly good. Try putting jam on the omelette. Yes I know, that sounds weird, but it is surprisingly tasty! They also have really good coffee. It's nothing fancy, but if you are looking for delicious basic coffee, this is the place for it. They offer free refills on the coffee as well.
They also have some really tasty Chinese food. The fried rice was quite delicious! I would have liked to try more of the items on the Chinese food menu.
I never tried the poutine here, since Fritz is right nearby.
The staff here is really friendly and helpful, particularly if you take the time to talk to them.
When I was in Vancouver for the Olympics I had breakfast here almost every day. I really miss this place, and plan to come back the next time I'm in Vancouver.
(There is some confusion about the name of this place. It is also known as The Grade A Cafe.) -

Not impressed. I went here because I saw that they served Canadian and Chinese food, just like Smile Diner on Pender St. I really don't care about decor in restaurants, this place didn't even look presentable.
In terms of food, they had a $6.95 lunch special for roast beef, which came with mashed potatoes with gravy and veggies. The entree also came with soup or salad and jello for desert. My food didn't take long to come. When I got my meal, it reminded me of something I'd find in a high school cafeteria, maybe even worse. It didn't exactly look appetizing. The roast beef certainly didn't taste fresh and I didn't even know what the veggies were, so I didn't eat them. The only thing I liked out of my whole meal was the soup and potatoes. I guess I shouldn't have expected much out of a $6.95 meal, but I thought the food could have been decent, since the restaurant is called "Grade A Cafe". I haven't tried anything else from here, but hopefully their other entrees are better.
If you want a very cheap eat that still tastes good, go to Smile Diner instead. The people are more pleasant and friendlier than here, too.
I don't see myself going back here since there are hundreds of better restaurants downtown. -

Grade A gets a D.....
The only reason to come here is for the poutine.
Other than that, it is just really dirty and divey and unappetizing.
But the ladies there were nice. It reminded me of Bashful Bull in SF but not as clean.....Sorry.
