Wanted Indian for lunch. Searched on Yelp and found GI. Had tandoori chicken, mixed grilled veggies and samosas amongst us. Prices reasonable. Ingredients fresh NOT frozen. Portions good. Flavours good. Odd use of vanilla instead of plain yogurt though. Nan should be provided.

A message I received after my previous review for GI:

    Hello Tiffany,

I work with Gracious Indian and read your review abour our Clayton Park location and would like to apologize for the "bad grilled beef" that your boyfriend received tonight.  Our Clayton Park location is only a couple months old and we are working hard to make sure that every dish is prepared to our taste and standards.  I would love to offer you a gift card towards another order of grilled beef (or anything else on the menu) from our Windsor St. location (2156 Windsor St.) so that you can try and see what our famous Grilled Beef should really taste like!

If you would like to take me on this offer, please provide me with your Full name and I can have a gift card issued for you that you can use by visiting the location and picking it up or just mention your name and that you have a gift card when placing a phone order.

Thanks for your business today and we hope to win you back as a customer!

This is definitely the fast-food version of Indian cuisine. I suppose knowing that going in, my expectations shouldn't have been very high, but even so, I just didn't find that 2 of the 3 items I ate were very good.

For starters, the samosas were small, doughy and flavourless. They weren't fresh, and not only could I see them sitting under heat lamps when I walked in, but they tasted like they had been out for some time sitting under heat lamps.

I ordered butter chicken, which came with a choice of rice or naan bread. Typically this isn't really an option, because naan just seems like a natural pairing to me. But I digress, I ordered the naan on the side because I couldn't eat this dish without.

The naan was essentially deep friend pastry shell. It wasn't at all what I have experienced at any other Indian restaurant. It was greasy, and really not at all pleasant.

The one thing I did like about my meal was the actual butter chicken. It was quite spicy, which was nice. A fair sized serving for the price too - about $13 for everything mentioned above and a Diet Coke.

This isn't really a place that you go and expect to be served like a regular restaurant. You make your order at the cash, sit down, your meal gets brought to you, and you then leave.

Tip: If you do order the butter chicken, ask for the yogurt on the side or else they will mix it in to your dish. At least then you can decide how much you want.

Not particularly inspired Indian takeout. I was craving butter chicken and it's up the street, so I checked it out. Didn't really give me my fix, so I'll go elsewhere next time probably. Was it "bad"? No. Just not memorable.
