Wow, that is all I can say! I have to say thank you to Ruth for letting us know about this place, it is a real find. To be honest I did not think it was opened to the public, but it is!
Everything in massive quantity, and so much to choose from. Prices are great here and I am now going to be sending all relatives here.
This is like Disney Land of the Foods. -

I must have driven by it a million times before a friend told me about Gourmet Cash & Carry which is in a tiny strip mall on Kempt Road easily passed on a street of car dealerships and fast food joints.
Now I call it my "Costco of ethnic foods". It's and outlet for Clic International Food Importers and I think, established first for Middle Eastern restaurants here in Halifax.
I could be making that up, but I'm not making up the rest! The prices are fantastic - much cheaper than the local grocery chains and the variety a million times better. You'll find everything from Middle Eastern, to Asian and Indian foods....bags of rice - industrial size to 1 lb for the rest of us; imported olives and olive oils from Greece, Lebanon, Morocco and more; spices that are hard to find anywhere else, beans...canned, and dried of every color, size and shape; dates, figs, rose water, filo and everything else you'd need to make your own baklava, including shelled pistachios.
And some of my favorite items are found in the fridges and freezers. It was the only place in Halifax that had frozen artichoke hearts and bottoms that I needed for a recipe I was testing. Not to mention the fact that every time I go I discover something new.
Tony, the manager is very helpful not only in explaining what some of the more exotic ingredients are and even giving me a family recipe or two. -
