This is my absolute favorite sushi place in San Diego!

They move closer to the main street which is a plus cuz it's easier to find and it's bigger.

Anyways, Goody is a sweetheart. He is great to all his customers and I love the fact that you can sit there and talk to him.

I have to say my favorite roll is the Bob Marley roll. It definitely tastes as great as it sounds. I pretty much like all of their rolls, especially if it has their mango salsa on top.

I have to say the best part about my last experience is the Ahi Poke Salad. The Ahi just melts in your mouth and the sauce is made to perfection.

I would recommend this place to anyone that wants great customer service, along with the best sushi in town!

    I've had better.

I live in the SF Bay Area and have had much better sushi here. Traveled down to San Diego this last weekend and wanted something healthy, plus Goody's is 3 minutes from our hotel. The garlic edamame  is different, but not amazing. I got the Crunchy roll and was disappointed at how plain it was.

5 stars for the friendly service though!

I haven't tried many sushi places and I really had no idea where to begin so I hopped on Yelp! My friend and I go to dinner every Thursday night and we wanted a new sushi place and based on the great reviews we decided we'd go here!
Upon walking in we told the waitress we wanted a seat at the bar. The bar happened to be full but she said she could squeeze in a couple more chairs! Great! We sat down, ordered our drinks, and that was the last of her we saw! I gave 4 stars because after we ordered drinks it took 30 minutes (I kept track!) for one of the waitresses to even knowledge us! After 10 or 15 minutes, Goody himself!, who was behind the bar making sushi, asked if we had ordered rolls yet. We told him no and he apologized and took our orders right there at the bar! Whenever we wanted to try something new or wanted to order something else we just let him know and he took care of it! He was so nice and made small talk with us through out dinner.
Now for the sushi! I ordered the Bob Marley roll and the Caterpillar Roll. My friend ordered a special roll (she literally told Goody what she liked and he made it!) and a Pizza Roll. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT! I love sriracha sauce and when I read that the Bob Marley roll had it, I had to try! The fish was so fresh and everything was SO GOOD! I literally took one bite of my Marley roll and looked at my friend said "You have to try this!" and "We're coming back!" I love this place! I just hope the service with the waitresses is better next time :/
We also ordered edamame with salt and coffee mochi which were both taken off our bill! Thanks Goody! The place is so cute and I loved the colors, the pictures of people like Johnny Cash, Elvis, Bob Marley, and Marilyn Monroe on the walls. The booths had walls up around them so their very private and intimate. The music varied from Reggae to late 90's-early 2000's which was so great to hear! A couple of reviews I read said they didn't have a soda fountain or a liquor license, THEY DO HAVE BOTH NOW! We will definitely be back again and again!

I'll forgive the fact that this restaurant is hidden away in a strip center since I found the staff friendly and engaging and the sushi was excellent. Everything tasted very fresh, including the pickled ginger. I had the salted edamame, Rainbow Roll and The Shrimp Tempura Roll. The shrimp in the Tempura Roll was perfectly fried and not greasy and the choice of rice paper as a wrapper made it easier to eat and flavorful. The Rainbow Roll was the standard presentation but the sashimi was fresh, the color was bright and clear and the flavor was perfect. I will be returning.

Haven't tried their sushi since we came in on a co-worker's recommendation on the teriyaki salmon. I don't usually get teriyaki - let alone cooked salmon in most places, but this one blew my mind. So moist you wouldn't even think it was salmon and the sauce was not like any other I've ever had - subtle and not so "teriyaki".

What a find in National City! Must come back to try their sushi.

Service was excellent and they don't even hesitate when you ask for split bills (we came in a party of 5).

    Standard Japanese food and sushi.

I was totally misled by the 4 1/2 stars that Goody's has.  The cilantro chicken didn't have much of a cilantro taste, the rolls were good, the hamachi was just ok, but the salmon sashimi was very good.  Goody's is ranked towards the top of San Diego's sushi restaurants.  What does this say? San Diego needs better sushi joints, because obviously no one here knows what good Japanese food or sushi tastes like.

Now I have been to a bunch of sushi restaurants up and down San Diego but haven't found a place where I would consider my go-to spot. Now for those who suffers from the same dilemma, then read on. This place came highly recommended by my roommate at the time I was living in San Diego.  I can see why.  Goody's Sushi & Grill is, by far, my favorite sushi restaurant in San Diego.  The new spot they moved in has a simple decor with plenty of tables and booths compared to their original digs.  In the back, they have the wall of dollar bills from loyal patrons who frequents here which is pretty cool.  I love the choice of music they play here:  A mix of hip hop and RnB from the 90's to the present...nice.  They have separate Men & Women bathroom which is always a plus.

    SERVICE:
Now what separates a lot of sushi restaurants in San Diego from this one is the customer service.  They genuinely know how to treat and take care of their customers.  Goody, the owner, is always manning the sushi bar creating culinary works of art.  Great guy to talk to and is more than happy to assist you with the menu.   Every time I go here, I just tell him to make whatever he feels and he never fails.  If you happen to get Mali as your server, you are in good hands.  She knows how to welcome and take care of her guests.  First class customer service.  Friendly, helpful, and always attentive.

    FOOD:
The Dy-NOO-mite, Trinity, and the Bob Marley are go-to rolls for me.  Well crafted, tasty sushi.  The Garlic Edamame is a tasty, unique twist to the traditional appetizer.  The sashimi is fresh and it melts in your mouth like butter.  Put your trust in Goody's hands and let him make whatever he wants if you are undecided.

    BOTTOMLINE:
GO HERE.  I would recommend this place to anyone who wants great sushi, chill atmosphere, and awesome service.  This place stands out in all facets.  Cheers!

Two people from different spheres in my life talked about this place so I had to see what all the buzz was about. Apparently this place has sea urchin available.

The Good: I really liked how low key it was and that the music was not playing too loudly so as to interrupt conversation which seems to be encouraged with the type of ambiance. The Specialty rolls available looked unique and I got the Tipsy Tuna which was the most expensive at $13 and was good. The servers were friendly and the dessert offered was the PB and J tempura ala mode. First of all, I am not thrilled with sweets or pastries, but this was a challenge to pass up on. Needless to say, it is hard to ruin a classic and the crunchy tempura batter around the sandwich created a mixed texture which is always welcomed and appreciated. Sorry for making you read all that, will I go back? YES. Do I recommend this place? YES for first dates, single dates, get faded with no more than 8 people, YES!!

The Bad: It is so close to In N Out that I could just bail out of going here. But really though, there is a CREEPY multi-layered stencil of Charlie Chaplin in the men's restroom that stares at you while you whiz. I am assuming that the image is part of a collected motif the restaurant is trying to put up. The food was good but even though I enjoyed my Tipsy Tuna, I felt that it the sushi chef was skimping out on the raw Tuna.

Verdict: Worth a go once. I learned to get the PB/J tempura w/ vanilla ice cream. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way for this place, but since national city is lacking in the sushi department, I am pleased that it is there.

From the moment we walked in, the experience was great. Seated right away and the server was awesome. Their rolls are very fresh, appealing and delicious. I didn't catch our waitress's name, but she was great customer service. She recommended the garlic edamame. It was soo good!

I ordered their Dy-NOO-mite roll. Scallops were fresh and I enjoyed the entire thing. Tried their purple rain from the secret menu. It had the perfect balance! I would definitely visit this place again. Oh and I love the music they play :)

    Good sushi!
I came here and got lost so many times before I actually found the place. For some reason my navi was telling me to go to Stoney's Bar and Grill, which is across the street from Goody's. Goody's doesn't have a light-up sign outside the restaurant yet (just a banner hanging down) and I think that's why I couldn't find the place.  Anyways, the restaurant was packed when I came in! Good thing the bf and I were planning to get take-out.

I ordered the Trinity roll and bf got the Dynoomyte and Philly Roll.
The sushi was delicious and the spicy tuna in the Trinity roll was perfect! Sauce was also YUM! The Dynoomite roll comes with scallops and other tasty stuff.
Overall, sushi was fresh and prices were reasonable.

I would come back but this place is too far from home =[

Went here because of reviews on YELP. Glad I did. The service was amazing and the sushi was even better. I ordered the California roll and asked the chef (Goody) to pick another for me. I have no idea what it was, but I would order it a thousand times over. Not to mention the tempura PB&J was awesome.

I think I've had this place on my list to try longer than any other without actually yet trying. My friend has been bugging me all week to go to Snooze, but I didn't have the time at work this week to deal with any long waits. I'd also been mentioning this place to him for a while, so we decided to go here. Luckily, I checked the Yelp map and directions before we left, because the map I originally printed from here had the old location.

The staff here is really friendly, and the set-up is really nice. They have some hard rock playing over the speakers, and some cool posters up on the wall. I didn't even catch here name, but I have to say that our waitress was incredibly beautiful.

Being I first visit, the gave us some complimentary garlic edamame. I haven't had a lot of edamame, but it was definitely the best I've ever had. I also ordered a crunchy roll and a caterpillar (I think) roll. They were both delicious. I even managed to use my chopsticks for a few bites of my first roll before I gave up and used my finger.

I've been contemplating between 4 or 5 starts all afternoon, but went with 5 since the staff was so damn nice.

After Ron picked me up, we found the building but ended up almost entering the back way :P

There was no signage last night- it's next door to Ramos Law firm and to the left of Denny's.

The layout is a lot more aesthetically appealing than the original location. Complimentary dishes were all very satisfying ie. garlic edamame, fried gyoza, Asian Cajun chicken on rice, spicy sushi (they put sriracha on some of their rolls!) and Tuna Tataki which reminded me of Hawaii.

Unfortunately, I didn't bring my phone or camera to take photos of what we had, but that gives me all the more reason to come back! Oh, and the beer and alcohol license in the window might be of interest to some of you as well. Great spot if you're fiending for sushi in Nasty City- I'm a fan :)

We went to Goody's based on the high ratings it was given on Yelp!

We were greeted very quickly after we entered the restaurant.  The service was extremely fast, we had a bowl of Garlic Edamame on our table moments after we sat down.  Our drinks were kept topped off every few minutes.  The appetizers came out quickly.

The food itself was typical maki rolls that you can find in any sushi house, however, their combination of flavors in those maki rolls were great.  We ordered the "Bob Marly" which had an amazing spicy finish, a "Pizza Roll" that was very delicious had great flavors throughout.  We also order mixed tempura, the batter was light and crisp, the vegetables were fresh, and they were not greasy.  By far the best dish was the mixed Sashimi, all three fishes on the plate were clean, fresh, and served at the right temperature.

Don't forget dessert, the Peanut Butter Tempura is actually really good!

I love Goody's!! My husband and I have been there once a week for the past month! We were just their last night and it was yummy as always. The service is great, and being that we have visited so frequently, Goody knows us by name. We love supporting small business owners and it says a lot when they thank you by name!

Goody's is reasonably priced, however, we order so much we walk out having spent a lot more than intended (compliment to the deliciousness of the food!!!).  We will most definitely continue to stop by Goody's when we are craving sushi but with a budget in mind :D.

Suggestions: 1) Try the Teddy Wangs (translation: chicken wings) They have a good twist! 2) Order the Dragon Roll and the Bob Marley, my husband and I love them both!! 3) Better yet, visit Goody's frequently and try something new each time! We have tried almost every roll on the menu.

Overall, wonderful service, fantastic food, and a welcoming environment! What more could you ask for?!!?

I was recommended this place by a patient of mine, and was encouraged by the great yelp reviews.  As warned, this place was difficult to find, especially in the dark, but we found it!  And we were not disappointed!!
We walked in and were immediately greeted by three smiling wait-staff who all greeted us "Welcome to Goody's!"  We usually like sitting at the sushi bar in a sushi restaurant to talk to the chefs, and I would HIGHLY recommend sitting at the bar at Goody's.  We sat right infront of a young man who turned out to be Goody himself- great, charismatic, funny guy.  He made a point to learn his customer's names.  He gave us garlic edamame on the house because it was our first time and made some amazing recommendations.  We also got to see him make some incredible dishes for other customers.  I definitely want to try new dished when we go back!!
The music was great!  It might be different on other nights, but this night Pandora's early 90's R&B mix was on.  Brought back some good memories for both myself and my fiance.
The actual rolls were fantastic!!  We had the Dynomite, Trinity, Bob Marley, and another roll that Goody had recommended that wasn't on the menu.  The Bob Marley was my favorite- the fish was so fresh that it melted in my mouth!!  Incredible!!
This place will now be my go-to place for good sushi.
The prices are reasonable- not the cheapest sushi in San Diego, but not the most expensive either. (The fancy rolls were $12-$14/roll)  Absolutely worth every penny!!

Goody Goody Goody, can't you see, all of your rolls just hypnotize me! LOL. Really though.

So I arrived at this new location 2/9/12 (the day after the Grand Opening), & couldn't believe my eyes as I walked in. The new set up is such an upgrade! The first was location was very simple, but this...I LOVE it!! Very mellow & relaxing atmosphere.

Now on to the rolls! This time around, instead of 3 rolls, we had 4! I so wanted to order more but my guy was full I guess!! 1st= Bob Marley, 2nd= Lava Lava, & the last 2 rolls we got the Black Dragon! One serving just wasn't cutting it! When I go back next time (which was the following day), I also got the Black Dragon & the Trinity. But when I go back for plenty of times to come, guess which roll will be a must have!? Mmmhmmm, that's right, Black Dragon! Lol. It's just too good to resist.

The servers are so good-spirited & full of energy, it's amazing! Makes dining in that much more exciting! Goody & the crew, I WILL be back for more! & if that means coming back everyday for a week straight to satisfy my sushi craving, then so be it! Get used to this face! :p

I don't see what all the hype is about for this place. There are more follies than goodies about a sushi place like this.

First offense is that they cannot serve you a glass of water but can bring a warm bottle of water with a cup of ice for a very steep price. Why can't they serve water? Probably because they Health department did not approve their sinks to be clean and sanitized for serving customers clean and perfectly healthy tap water. I always prefer water when eating sushi because the sugary sodas ruin the palate of my mouth and I can't enjoy the fish as much.

To make matters worse regarding the beverage choices is that they don't serve beer or sake. This automatically makes Goody's unqualified to be a 5 star Yelp destination. If they worked on obtaining an alcohol license only then maybe could I understand why some people rated this place so highly because the sushi rolls were God awful.

I ordered the rainbow roll and the Bob Marley roll and I almost threw up because of how much mayonnaise they served on top of the BM roll. It was so disgusting that I had to scrape as much off with my chopsticks as I possibly could. The rainbow roll was whatever and nothing special by any means.

Also, I ordered 2 piece sea bass nigiri but was told they no longer served it. Then why would you still keep it on the menu? SMH. I went with the tuna nigiri instead, and I will be the first to admit I was shocked with how huge the cuts of fish were but was disappointed to see that nasty mayo sauce squeezed in a huge dot in the middle of the fish.

Real sashimi/sushi doesn't need to be disguised in nasty mayo sauces.

With hungry anticipation and my desire to validate the hype that is Goody's, my first trip made me realize that no matter all the good things said and read about a place, you have to try it yourself to form an opinion.  There were some good aspects about Goody's, which is why my rating is a fair assessment.  Nothing really made me say, I really want to go back.

Goody's was pretty easy to find.  The decor is pretty trendy with modern booths and stylish looking tables.  The pictures of actors and musicians complemented the trendy look.

For being first time visitors, my family of four were given a complimentary appetizer, garlic edamame.  A strong reason why I gave 3 stars because they were delicious.  As for the sushi, I wasn't blown away.  The prices for the sushi weren't too bad, but I also didn't feel we got alot for what we paid for.  I liked the lava lava roll, which had a crunchy batter around the sushi.  We also ordered the Bob Marley.  Both were recommended by our server.  I didn't taste anything spicy in either roll.  My son liked his teriyaki bowl and my daughter rated Goody's at 3.5 stars.

Overall, Goody's warrants a return visit, but I was hoping for so much more on my first visit.  Still looking for that one sushi place where I can call my sushi "go to" place.

    Goody, goody it's sushi that's Good-y!

I want to sing every time I get some Goody sushi.  So. Amaze.

My bf found this place a few months back and it has been our go-to for sushi ever since.  The location is a bit awkward as it is set in an industrial park in National City (by the In-N-Out off the 5 freeway) but it's so worth the confused face as you turn left and right into the only spot that is lit up by its florescent "Open" sign.  The decor is minimal but you can tell that Goody is a young business owner with the names of the rolls and the Bob Marley pics.  So what? Isn't that what this wonderful country was created for? So we can all go out and venture, find our niche and thrive? *steps down from soapbox*

The rolls are awesome.  I tend to be an off-of-the-menu sushi orderer. The reason is two-fold.  One: so I can get something that is made only for me (or so I like to think). Two: to see the creativity of the sushi chefs based on my hankerings at that moment in time. Sometimes spicy, sometimes lemony. always creative.

Goody delivers.  He's cooler than the other side of the pillow.  Just mellow and making rolls. I'm so glad they are so close.

Don't go there for the decor. Go there for the food.

I love sushi, so therefore I love Goody's.  This sushi place makes the top of my list, not only for the food, but for Goody and his staff as well.  The vibe you get here is very chill and home-like.  Goody and Mali greet everyone with a smile and they are great at what they do, and achieved more than enough fans!

My favorite sushi roll?? Can I say anything Goody makes is a favorite.  My boyfriend and I usually order albacore, yellowtail, salmon belly, toro, and hamachi nigiri to start off with.  Then we move on to the specials of the day/week.  AND THEN we get to the daily rolls.  Or, we just ask Goody to make a specialty roll =)

I think I've gained a good amount of pounds because of my addiction to sushi, but I'm not at all complaining =)

We haven't stepped into Goody's new location, but I'm sure their business will be booming.

One word that comes to mind when I think of this place is: F R E S H.

FRESH that this place is VERY family oriented and it's a family business.

Goody and his sisters know exactly how to run a restaurant. Very friendly and personable. Not the fake friendly or forced friendly, but the sincere friendly. They even make it a point to remember your name and call you by it.

FRESH, the seafood/sushi is nothing but FRESH. They get their stuff daily too, and once you bite into their sushi, you can tell. Their seafood/sushi has the sweet freshness to it.

Hopefully when they move near Denny's they will be able to serve beer&sake =)

I picked this place off of Yelp solely for it's rating and it lived up to expectations!  It's a little hole in the wall in a strip mall, but well worth the visit.  The employees are all so friendly and hospitable and greet you when you walk in.  I placed a large to-go order, and while I waited they gave me a free drink and garlic edamame to snack on.  The garlic edamame was AMAZING!!!  I normally just have a few pods when people order that, but with this one, I just couldn't stop myself until they were all gone.  This was the best edamame I've ever had.  And their cut rolls were also all amazing.  I will definitely be back - check this place out!!

As a sensory scientist, I have used the line scale method of evaluation for this particular establishment based on the garlic edamame, sashimi; lava roll and  trinity roll.

Service is impeccable, I mean Nordstrom-style customer service! Free choice of garlic edamame or chicken potstickers if you are a first time customer! We choose the garlic edamame, and ooooooo my goodness, I never thought to pair soysauce + garlic with edamame, WHAT A TREAT. we gobbled it up like there was no tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the sushi was good, not great. We ordered a Halloween special roll and an Al Bundy roll. We had high expectations with the rating the way they were, and driving from La Jolla to National City for sushi we were expecting yumminessss the second it hit our lips -- but it wasn't that way.

Definitely a go-to place whenever we're in the area, but not worth driving there from La Jolla.

All I can is thank god for YELP! Who would ever hear about, or stop by this place since its located behind in n out?!

As soon as I walked in I was already excited because of all the good reviews on here. I came in with a party of 7 and we were all greeted by these two young ladies, I think they're sisters? But great thing about the waitresses is that they're so easy to talk to and made us feel very welcomed! I actually thought it funny when one of them yelled, "oh we got NOOBIES in the hooouuse!"

We all ordered different rolls, and all of them had great quality. We all ended up saying it was "really good", and we don't normally say that after eating sushi. Garlic edemame and gyoza was on the house since we were noobies. Both of them on point! We also got ahi poke and that too was delicious.

The only thing I wish they had was more rolls (which there probably is but its secret?) And water cups. But who cares cause the food is greaaaatt. And I love where the place is located and how it looks, its simple inside but it just makes it that more interesting.. you know? Hahah!

Ill be here every month for my sushi fix, you should too. Yee!!!

Five stars for service and friendliness. Server was adorable and professional at the same time. She knows how to market this place.

Four for food. We had so many things, I cannot name them all, but included some pretty amazing ahi poki, some great spicy rolls including the red velvet, rainbow roll, crunchy roll, an octopus special and the chicken cilantro bowl. All in all, we had about seven rolls, and several sides. As per all the other yelpers, we got the complementary first time garlic edamame. Also, bottled water only (though if you get the green tea, then someone comes around to refill your hot water). I thought the food was very good and fresh. It was not melt in your mouth good like Sushi Ota. Also, slightly funny and annoying at the same time was that we would order a roll and then our server would tell us about a special roll that was even better, but not listed on the menu. For a very visual person like me, I needed it to be on the menu. Once OK, but not several times.

Three for ambience. This place is a hole in the wall. Not that I've ever not gone anywhere b/c it's a hole in the wall. It's what I prefer. But a hole in the wall is 3 out of 5 stars. They will be moving very soon to another locale, so if you are reading this in two weeks, then nevermind.  The place is busy, though. All tables full when we were there; a sign of a healthy business.  Customers from all walks of life and ethnicity.

4.5 stars for the cost. Thank you for that!

Overall, I think we'll be back. It's a bit of a drive for us, so it'll probably only be on a special adventurous occasion.

San Diego has a number of decent sushi restaurants, but that's about it - they are only decent.  In my 4 years in this neck of the woods, I've managed to only find a very small handful of good sushi places. In my humble, honest opinion, Goody's Sushi & Grill is the BEST sushi place I have ever been to - and that is saying a lot since I'm fairly picky about food.

Upon walking into the restaurant for the first time, I was greeted with a smile by Goody himself. I placed my order for the Trinity Roll, which has a funny story of the inspiration on which it was created. As I spoke with Goody a bit more, I came to understand that most of his recipes were inspired. Before my sushi came, the waitress made sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable and satisfied. The service there was amazing. Goody's Sushi & Grill lives by their motto, "If we don't take care of the customer... Someone else will." I find that to be true as I felt like a princess the whole time I was there.

Within a few minutes of ordering, I was served an appetizer, Garlic Edamame. My taste buds started to sing as I ate them. A few minutes later, came the Trinity Roll. As I took my first bite, my taste buds started to scream. The sushi felt like it melted in my mouth. As I took another bite, I found myself becoming addicted to the taste as my palate craved for more. By the time I was done with the Trinity Roll, I felt as if no words could describe the serenity and satisfaction that overwhelmed me. I call it a "mouth orgasm!" haha. I couldn't believe it and I'm sure you wouldn't either, so I suggest you make it a point to stop into Goody's Sushi & Grill today! Goody maintains his promise to "serve it fresh or don't serve it at all." It is Goody's passion to serve his creations with quality taste and personality.

    'Keep an eye out.'
    'Yea yea. I'm looking!'
    'Where is it then?'
'I dunno. They said it's around here. Wait! There it is! You passed it!'
'I told you to keep an eye out!'

Yea, bf always gets frustrated at me cuz I suck as a navigator. It's not my fault. His friend just said it was behind Denny's and In-N-Out. Easier directions: off of I-5, exit Mile of Cars and make a right at the exit towards Denny's, turn right on Hoover Ave, turn right on W 26th and look at the big white building on your left side. Goody's Sushi is there somewhere. But seriously, who would expect this great sushi joint is hidden in a outa nowhere business area?

Yummy stuff. Garlic edamame, bomb. I think we tried most specialty rolls. On separate occasions of course. All were good. I guess it just depends on what your feeling at the time. But all are a must try! Thinking about going back - soon. Can't wait!

Just came back from Goody's and I couldn't wait to write them a nice review.  Man! They are fantastic!  The service (by our waitress Ashley) was so awesome.  She saw that it was our first time in and she gave us some tasty garlic edamame ON THE HOUSE!  By the way, TASTY is such a weak word to describe the magic that goes on in this plate!

This place is totally kid friendly, they have a little train table set up in the corner that serves as a pleasant distraction while our food was being prepared and our waitress hooked up the kiddos with some fruit gummies at the end of their meal. WOW, how is THAT for service?

About the food; We ordered SOOOO many things is hard to keep track but I definitely LOVED the Halloweeny special that had slices of jalapeno tucked in with the crab meat.  Also ordered the Jessica Alba roll...I personally think Jessica Alba is a douche bag, but this roll by the same name was oh-so tasty. The crunchy roll my kids had was very good!!! They were dying to lick the crunchies off their plates (little animals!).
The downside? No ice, no beer (DARN IT! I LOVE some Saporo with my sushi), and no soda fountain.  Straight up cans and bottled water.

Ashley, our server, did mention that they'll be moving over to the Denny's in a couple of months.  I hope that with the new location it'll also include a new liquor license but I failed to ask...at the very least a soda fountain.

    So try this place out!

Friendly service, quality food, and wonderful experience!

A startup, quaint, humble, sushi restaurant tucked in the corners of a corporate park, our first experience at Goody's Deli was delightful! The food is delicious and Goody makes the dining experience very enjoyable. Constantly recommending friends to try the food. The drive is worth the hunt!

My mom heard only good things about this place and had been dying to come here. I looked it up on YELP. I wasn't too sure on the location, but when we got there it wasn't what I thought it would be. They have really nice black and white pictures on the walls of (my favorite actress) Audrey Hepburn and Elvis etc.
I have to say the sushi and rolls were delicious! And yes, SUPER FRESH. CAUTION: The spicy tuna roll IS spicy. I thought, finally a spicy spicy tuna roll. MMMmmmm. i ordered the teddy aki and shrimp tempura for my kids and little bro. They said the teriyaki chicken was better than Niban's but the shrimp tempera wasn't. We compare to Niban because we haven't found a place we like better. We drive all the way to clairmont whenever we want sushi! I don't think that will be the case from now on. YAY FOR FANTASTIC SUSHI IN THE SOUTH BAY!!! (finally!)

Where do I start.....if you want fresh fish and great customer service, then Goody's is your place. Recently relocated, but not far from its original spot, you got good vibes and a great atmosphere. Blue fin is always good here, but you can't go wrong with whatever you order. The sashimi is to die for. Literally melts in your mouth like butter but great thing about that is that it's healthier! :) I always look forward to taking a trip down south to visit Goody and da family! :)  CONGRATS on the expansion!

Took a while to find it because it was in a business type buildings. It's right off the Interstate 5 near In N Out and Denny's.

We got there and the sign on the door said it was closed but the owner let us in anyway. The place is nice, decorated with a lot of Hollywood artist from Marelyn Monroe to Elvis to Tupac (which was my fav) the service is great, we had Goody the owner serve us and don't judge a book by its cover cuz I thought he was just another Asian who you probably won't understand. But he speaks clear English and has a hood twang. Hah. And he gave us free edamame sauteed in this garlic and butter goodness.

I ordered a crunchy roll, excelent. My bf ordered mix nigiri and spicy scallop hand roll, soft shell crab roll. All were amazing. How? Because any sushi is awesome when you can taste the fish or seafood as if it were the only thing  you were eating. Ohg it was sooo good. My bf's best friend for the canjun chicken, which was just a chicken entree. Hella good!

    Definitely going to be regulars.
