I've been a member since it first opened a couple of years ago. It was the first 24 hour and coed GoodLife in the city. Well, it's not quite 24/7 as it's open from 8 am - 8 pm on the weekend but otherwise, it's 24 hours on the weekdays. The gym looks a lot bigger than it actually is; it has two levels with one fitness studio, one spin class along with massage therapy and day care. There's lots of cardio and weight machines spread out on both floors so the layout is nice. No individual TVs on the machines as they cheaped out and just put up flat screens really high up on the wall like you're in a sports bar. I hate that as the TV angles can kill your neck (at least for me) depending on the distance and angle you are at.
I'd say the demographics lean towards the 18-35 crowd. The staff are alright, they don't seem as professional as the Canwest Club.
Pros:
- great hours
- lots of machines and generally not super crowded
- good airflow
Cons:
- no individual TVs
- changing rooms aren't the cleanest; don't think the staff checks on the rooms as often as they should (e.g. waste baskets overflowing, no paper towels, general garbage on the floor)
- many times, paper towels and disinfectant bottles are empty at different stations
- the muscle head idiots tend to come in and curse later in the evening (why do they feel the need to grunt with every rep and talk really loud with their boyz?)
