*3.5 stars*
This is a nice gym - it also happens to be the most accessible Goodlife location to my house.
I did a BodyPump class this morning - it was full, and the instructor (Donna) was great and full of energy. The upstairs (street level) portion of the gym is largely cardio machines and where the classes take place.
Change rooms and weight equipment are located downstairs. This location is efficiently planned.
It was surprisingly busy for a Sunday morning, and despite the *adverse* weather conditions.
Pros - there's parking available, either on the street (tough to find), or parking at in the lot behind No Frills across the street. Give yourself a few minutes to make it across the street.
The lockers are a good size, you can fit your gym stuff, your coat, shoes, etc with no issue.
Cons - not this time -

This gym is pretty good. The equipment is new and state of the art, has good house/electro music, the instructors are very friendly, the only bad thing is that there are a LOT of creepy old dudes at this gym! lol, you have been warned yelpers! lol

I am not a fan of this location.
When you walk in you are hit with a pretty fowl smell similar to kitty litter which I assume is a mix of sweat and B.O. from the cardio machines all lined up in the entrance.
The hours aren't great and the change rooms are downstairs and the layout is sort of awkward.
The machines are always in use so I suggest maybe walking, jogging, or biking here if you need the cardio. -

You know, I was very, very pleasantly surprised by how simple and painless it was to cancel my membership at GoodLife (although time will tell a few months ago; I'll have to keep an eye on my bank balance to make sure that they don't keep debiting me like some gyms - http://www.yelp.ca/biz... - are notorious for doing). Gym manager "Marissa" was professional and got straight to the point as we filled out the paperwork together.
She wished me a happy move and good luck with my future fitness goals, which I thought was nice and responsible of her. She didn't question my decision to cancel or try to convince or swindle me into staying. Goodbye, GoodLife. It's been a pleasure paying for/not using your services this past year.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

I went to this club when I was visiting a friend in the neighbourhood. It was relatively new as this used to be an old bingo or banquet hall. The location services just the beaches area but I was somewhat disappointed after having been to the Liberty Village location. I suppose I had higher expectations for the design and layout of this facility being brand new. The equipment is nice and the reception staff were friendly but since I'm not a regular here I can't comment on their other trainers and management.
The layout is not bad with weights half being downstairs and cardio half is upstairs. The aerobics room is a good size but a bit tucked away. It's not really a large facility but the machines were well spaced and everything was clean. I thought they would have more natural light from the front as the building is a 2 story unit but the sign is huge and window treatment small. It would add a lot to the open space as it just doesn't seem as nice as their other gyms (including the Yonge-St. Clair which is in an underground location). It's an overall 3.5 star rating compared to the other GoodLife gyms I've used and reviewed. -

What a disappointment. During the high pressure sales pitch I bought three training sessions. I decided to see if they would give me a trainer with anything but there own agenda in mind. Usually they just want you to sign up for a lot of training. So I made it clear with the manager who booked the trainer that I don't used weight stacks, and in my initial consultation with the trainer (and every conversation after that) that I don't use weight stacks. Calesthenics and stretching both tone and stretch you. That is fine for me. They assured me this was no problem. The trainer spent our training sessions and conversations manipulating and bullying me to do it his way... weight stacks... all the while he was saying we would do it the other way. Don't waste your time with trainers here if you want anything other than mainstream dreck where the trainer stands and watches you ride the bike while you pay him to do so. Worst yoga classes in the city Otherwise the club is clean. The front door staff are very pleasant and accomodating. They make you feel very cheery when you come in.
