Fast and friendly. Tried the roast turkey with cranberry, which was fresh and delicious and almost more than I could eat. This is a really nice little lunch spot across from the cop shop. 4 dollar sandwiches yo!

Highly decent coffee is dispensed in this friendly, funky cafe run by a nice older couple. I like sitting at the counter at the front window, just reading the day's paper and contemplating the stack of Elle Decor magazines from 2008, 2006 and back. They seem to be a stratigraphy to date the cafe, which has been on Columbia Street for quite a long time.
Sure, I'm as guilty as anyone of patronizing the Starbucks kitty-corner to Good Eats, but I like this place for the friendly greetings, short line-ups and a trompe o'leil art-deco thing up on the walls. -

I am a fan, but they use processed-cheese slices so I am giving them three stars. The coffee is strong - just the way I like it - and the breakfast sandwiches are cheap and filling. I haven't had the turkey sandwich for lunch, YET, but Paul and Judy (the owners) roast a whole turkey each morning to make fresh sandwiches. They are veterans of the cafe business having owned four or five in their lives. The decor could use an update but the whole point is getting the cheap price so I'll let sleeping dogs lie.
