Review from Marc D.

Golestan bills itself as a "French and Persian Bakery." They have a nice mix of traditional Persian sweets and more European style pastries. I tried out the baklava which was made with a mixture of pistachios and almonds. The dough was not as crunchy as I normally like. But the filling had a nice hint of rose water, which was a pleasant surprise. The service was friendly overall. They have no prices posted at all though, and they probably have an "interesting" method of pricing. They weighed the purchase, and then decided if they should charge the per 100 grams price or the per piece price. They opted with the per piece price. I have no idea how much per 100 grams it would have been. It wasn't terribly expensive, so I'm guessing the per piece was actually less expensive. But who knows?!?!?!
I still prefer the baklava at Afra Bakery (http://www.yelp.ca/biz...) though, which is not too far away.
