Review from Aaron J.
Halifax, NS
Train here all the time
never packed, staff is super friendly
every machine you could ever think off and multiples of the popular
never a line up here for a machine. super modern, ultra high end cardio machines .
This place has the best squat dead lift area i have ever used
Such a nice gym with a good vibe -

let me give you the pro's first...
A LOT of equipment... the cardio area is incredible... i don't think this gym would ever have a problem with people fighting over treadmill time.
any other space not occupied with a cardio machine has some sort of bright yellow weight resistant machine... its like a maze to get through sometimes.
tons of free weights and barbells... work benches, squat rack and even a matted section for martial arts. now THAT is pretty nice indeed.
now, what do i not like about this gym?
a lot.
from a personal trainers point of view, i don't train from the restrictive movements of a machine. so seeing all those machines that were not being used or just looked odd and couldnt figure out how to use was just a waste of space.
space that could've been used for cross fit training, body weighted exercises, more innovative forms of training that don't require a machine that doesn't let the body move the way it is meant to move.
its hard finding open space for just core work or stretching... there is a little corner near the entrance, but if 3 people are already there, you basically have no where else to go.
i cannot stand the fact that every cardio machine has a tv attached to it. if you are being distracted by watching the tube, then you are not really training... how does one concentrate on their heart rate or form or whatever they are doing when they're watching the latest sitcoms?!
there is an open studio upstairs that classes are held. my friend and i decided to train in there once because it was empty and we had more space to do the crazy stuff i wanted to do... after 2 reps, we got booted out by a lady who was teaching the spinning class in the other room. she said it was 'distracting' ... even though the participants weren't facing us and they were in a DIFFERENT room that was closed off from the space we were in.
im only trying out this gym for a month with my friend (who is a member)... i will not be joining here after my trial period is over.
its too bad, i think there is a lot of potential for this gym to be so much better. i find it almost too 'backwards' thinking... fitness has revolutionized so much in the past couple years but it seems like you walked into a gym from the 80's from the feel and atmosphere.
oh, one more thing... there was one time they were blasting gangster music so loud... with all the swear words and all. not very professional or good workout music if you ask me.Listed in: LifestYleS

This is a huge gym with tons of equipment. Lots of free weights, machines, hammer strengths and cardio ensure that there really isn't any waiting. It is clean and most of the staff is at least fairly friendly. This would be a four star review except for the gang presence among the clientele. To work out here you have to be ready to wade through Vancouver's Integrated Gang Task Force outside and then lift with the people they're looking for inside. And I swear that there is a bullet hole in the window in the circuit training area.
