Grilled cheese. The holy grail of sandwiches. Simply mention that a certain place makes a mean grilled cheese and I'm there.

The grilled cheese at Golden Wheat is the only thing I've eaten there. I guess I need to go back and try something else. But really the grilled cheese is fantastic.

Made with a crispy bun roll type thing and a nice hard but not to strong cheese and grilled panini style. Yeah I know. Your mouth is watering.

Oh. AND it's inexpensive? Great job Golden Wheat. Great job.

    * But really I'll go back and try some other stuff soon!

Golden Wheat is a nice bakery to go to when you've got a sweet tooth, but yet haven't got a clue as to what you're craving for. The many spic and span display cases are chock full of assorted vibrant desserts which are bound to make it difficult to pick and choose. As I have only visited late in the evenings after dinner, it isn't usually busy at all, so I can do my twice over before finalizing my decision.

The creme caramel is one of my favourites, but on less indulgent days, the bars and tarts are just as satisfying. To wash everything down, nice little pots of tea come in single servings.

The counter service staff at night seem to be quite young and rather easy going. The long room features a wavy banquette as well as clusters of small tables which are perfect for reading a paper or catching up with a friend at.

Golden Wheat is a great bakery and they really know how to make their pastry. I agree with Erin, the custard tarts are really good but go for the cream filled thing (doughnut? no not really, just a large oval looking thing filled with creme) TRUST ME it's amazing!!!

I'm also pretty sure this place isn't open 24 hours but late usually until 1 or 2 a.m. which is still a plus because I've only been there after 10 anyways.

There were two distinct parts to my Golden Wheat experience and they need to be taken separately because they had very different results.  The first part was when I ordered my espresso.  I have had more than my share of espressos in the recent past and I am now pretty comfortable in saying what I think is a good espresso and what isn't and Golden Wheat has a very good espresso.  It is light, and smooth with just a hint of bitterness in the finish and it really is tasty and a great way to get the caffeine hit.  The second part was the pastry, now I've always been fairly wary of Italian pastry because well I just don't like them.  I find that they are usually too moist without being fluffy and that was the case with my éclair.  My éclair should have been as light and airy and as fattening as lard and it was only one of those things.   I would definitely  recommend the espresso because it's fantastic, but if your like me and prefer your pastries French then I would stick to the coffee
