Tonight I decided to treat myself to some takeout, so I just got back from picking up my order at Golden Star. When I called they told me it would only be 10 minutes for my order to be ready, so I left right away. Considering it is a Friday night, I would say that's really fast! The food is still hot even after walking back home.
I decided to get their combination plate number four, which includes and egg roll, chicken balls, almond guy ding and chicken fried rice. Everything is delicious, the only thing I might complain about is that I like to put my own sweet and sour sauce on, instead of having the chicken balls mixed with it already. The portions are huge, this will be two meals for me.
The service was friendly and super-quick! I will call Golden Star again next time I need a quick dinner. -

Like many other Chinese restaurants, Golden Star offers both Szechuan and Cantonese fare, with pretty much the same dishes as anywhere else.
I ordered their combination plate number five, which was under 10 bucks and came with a spring roll, chicken fried rice, Szechuan beef, and garlic spare ribs. I was a bit disappointed that the Szechuan beef wasn't really crispy, like I'm used to, but it was very flavorful. The garlic spare ribs were also a bit drier than I'm used to, but I could definitely taste the garlic, which I love.
Their prices are very affordable and the delivery service was fast, I only wish they were open later!Listed in: Glutton, International Flavour

Having lived in Asia for a number of years, I do come off a little pretentious when it comes to Asian food. I go on and on about authenticity and price. But, every once and a while, I feel like that good old Chinese food I ate before I moved overseas. Golden Star is your typical, no-nonsense Chinese restaurant. It has all your favourites - egg rolls, egg drop soup, fried rice, chow mein, chicken balls, beef and broccoli, etc. The prices are pretty good - most dishes are less than $8 (except for some seafood dishes). And, they deliver, so that is great for those lazy nights. They are closed Tuesdays, so be wary.
