Came here with family for dim sum.  Arrived around 11:30 and the place wasn't too busy.  It was actually kinda nice being in a dimsum restaurant that wasn't mega crowded.  I like how they still have the carts.  Since I can't understand what the cart ladies say, it's nice to be able to see and point.  I thought the dimsum was good.  The carts came around pretty often, and we had a table full of food pretty quickly. The har gaw were large and tasty.  I also liked the rice rolls with shrimp.  The sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves was okay - a bit bland.  My grandma liked the pai guat (spare ribs) but I thought there was not enough meat and too many bones.  Also ordered some sort of 'golden dumpling' (corn, ham, and shrimp), gai lan, deepfried eggplant with crab filling, and deepfried squid with garlic.  Golden dumpling was odd; I'm not used to eating ham in my Chinese food.  The deep fried squid was good though - crispy, salty, and garlicky.

Whenever I get dimsum I always order egg tarts.  I thought they were pretty good here.  The pastry was flaky and the custard was soft.  However, my favourite dim sum  egg tarts are still from HML seafood restaurant (hot from the oven are divine!).

I could see this as a place to bring 'dim sum virgins' because of the carts.  I would probably go back seeing as I didn't have any big concerns.  Now if only I knew how much the meal cost, that would definitely factor into a return trip!

It won't be my choice to came here for dim sim!! We came here coz it's so closed to my friend house and no need to wait for the table.

It's relatively inexpensive, and they still have dim-sum carts! Dim sims were below average.

Portuguese style egg tart - fresh baked not outstanding at all.
Stir fried broccoli - it was ok.
Pan fried rice roll - It's so salty
Fried rice with minced beef - the portion was big but it tasteless
Deep fried chicken wings - so greasy
Stir fried sliced chicken with lemon grass - very spicy and salty.
Clams in black bean sauce - just ok too.

Extra-large dimsum at good prices, but lacking in flavour.  More like 3.5 stars.

I went on a weekday morning and the carts were good about getting around, probably because it was fairly empty.  I got my staples:  shrimp dumplings, chive shrimp dumplings, shui mai, egg tarts, and shrimp rice rolls (hai chong).  I've never seen dim sum this huge before, it was ridiculous.

Their dim sum is simple, the classic dishes.  But the thing is, they didn't really WOW me in how they did them.  Shrimp was fairly fresh, but the dumpling skin was thick and chewy and torn.  I like mine thin and silky and full of delicious shrimp juice when I bite into it.

Dan tah was great, the crust tasted like it had a lot of shortening.  A part of me, the part that hasn't eaten pork in 5 years, also suspected a hint of lard in the crust.  It could be just the shitload of shortening......I didn't ask because I want to live blissfully in ignorance.

Would I repeat here?  Yes, if I lived in Vancouver and wanted huge portions for cheap prices.  However, I think I will probably hit some other place the next time I'm in Vancouver.

Came here twice in one day and not because it was good.  My family tends to only find one place when we're on vacation that becomes our mainstay during our visit there.  Soooo, yeah.

Ate dim sum in the morning/noonish time.  There wasn't much selection in the push carts that came by, and the overall tune of the place was rather slow.  They don't even put hot sauce or soy sauce out on the tables!  Hmph.

For dinner, the service was MEGA slow.  It took over two hours to have six or seven dishes come out of the kitchen.  I don't know if this place is supposed to be one of those classy, slow cookin', you're supposed to take your time while eating places, but it was supppperr slow.  And by the looks of the place, it was not a classy place.

The floors were dirty.  They had one of those dance floor things in the middle with the hardwood floor.  Dirrrrty.  All black and whatever.  What's up with Asian places always trying to make themselves seem so dirty inside???  How hard is it to mop the floor every once in awhile.  Like at Asian markets too, why not TRY and make yourselves more appealing???  I don't get it.

Well anyway, their service was slow and the food was okay at best.  They do have a pretty big parking lot compared to the rest of places nearby.  But that's considering the fact a couple places in the same center are shut down.  There's also another restaurant in the center, I believe??  And a 7-Eleven.  Yum.  (For the 7-Eleven)

Where should we eat?  A question that pops up daily when our parents visit.  Dad always wants Dim Sum or sum dim good.
I've been here before with some friends and it's not bad.
The staff are pretty friendly and the servers shuffling around with the food carts are pretty nice.  Tough thing if you can't speak Chinese, but they seem to get by if you can't.  I can't.  I look like I should but can't speak the language.  Just the language of Dim Sum.  The servers seem to understand me after a few repeated gestures with my fingers pointing to what I like and a quizzical look on my face when I seem to not comprehend their suggestions.

These days we tend to eat more of the steamed items than the Deep fried ones.  I have to take care of my health and If we're going Dim Sum, we try the lesser of the evils and go with the Steamed goodies.

They seem to have all the basic goodies there and they're pretty basic and tasty or was that tastily basic and pretty?.   Nothing really outstanding, and solid edibles..
As the previous poster wrote, the service can be slow at times.  If you end up getting a seat on the side room to the left (instead of the main part), be aware that some of the food will be cold when the carts get to you.  If you know what you want, order it up front so it gets to you fresh.
Nothing like having cold spring rolls....greasy yummy! NOT!

The other writer wrote about the cleanliness and this I have to concur.  But then it would be what it is.  Even though you would think it's on the verge of being shut down for things like this, the food is good..

Reasons for coming here?  Well, cost is one.  It's kinda fun still being able to get stuff off of the carts when everyone else moved over to the new direct service style. and yes. I like the old school way of Dim Sum.
And besides, there was this cute group of Asian ladies sitting at the table behind me.  My brother laughed, but he noticed that one of the girls (ahem) women looked familiar.  I couldn't help staring at her.
BTW if she just happens to be reading this.  Sorry for staring.  Do we know each other?

It was the same line I used when I first met Joan Chen (actress from Twin Peaks, The Hunted, Judge Dredd).

We were not impressed the last time we came to this restaurant for Dim Sum; however, we decided to give them another try by coming here for dinner on Sunday.  Well, it will be the last time for us.

There were 3 of us.  My friend, who has a broken leg, placed his leg up on the extra chair to minimize the swelling.  During the course of the evening, the waitresses, twice, walked right into his broken leg.  He had to put his leg down to avoid another occurrence.

While looking at the menu, I asked the waiter a question regarding what type of vegetables were served with one particular dish.  You would think I asked him to explain how the pyramids were built.  It was obvious that he could not answer so I put him out of his misery by listing a few vegetables; all he said was "yes".

We put in our order and my friend also asked for a bucket of steam rice.  The food arrived....but no rice.  After asking 3 times, three bowls of rice arrived.  We, again, asked for a bucket of rice.  The head waitress told the young waiter to dump the bowls of rice into a bucket.  She spoke in Chinese and assumed we couldn't understand.

One of the dishes we ordered was a spicy scallop with eggplant and egg tofu in a hot pot dish.  The cook used too much cornstarch as the sauce was VERY thick.  We had to water it down by pouring hot water into the hot pot and stirring the sauce to thin it.  We had to do this twice....that's how thick the sauce was.

We were being rushed the entire time we were eating.  It didn't make sense as the restaurant still had empty tables.  Two of the waiters came by our table and asked whether we wanted to pack the food.  Without waiting for a response, they started picking up the food.  Problem is that my friend was still eating!  When we pointed this out to them, they apologized and put the food down.  No sooner did my friend start eating again, another waiter came by with our red bean soup.  Needless to say, the soup was cold by the time we got to it.

The bill then arrived.  When I asked the head waitress whether the restaurant accepted VISA, she immediately responded "yes", grabbed the bill and wrote us our receipt...she then walked away.  She obviously misunderstood my question.

If I didn't know any better, I would have thought we were on Candid Camera!
