Golden Acre is Calgary's ode to gardening die-hards. However, more appealing is the fact that you don't even have to be interested in gardening to have a good time in GA. Just sifting through store and the goodies inside is a nice way to kill a couple of hours. The bonus is being surround by what seems like a forest of plants is a very relaxing venture. I feel at peace here.
This place has everything including rows of soil, a plethora of fertilizers, pots large enough to store bodies in (not that I would recommend it), colourful and ugly flowers and plants, patio furniture and a 10 foot knight one could purchase as a piece for the garden. The knight alone make for some good fun and pictures. -

Can I tell you a secret? I have a green thumb. Can I tell you another secret? Not only do I like plants, I LOOOOOVE them. Okay, okay, one more secret. Golden Acres is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine.
For all of you who haven't yet been, Golden Acres is an indoor garden center. The first part of it has all the actual gardening goods (gloves, watering canisters, hoses, etc.). The second part has rows and rows of BEAUUUUTIFUL flowers and plants for purchase. The second part is more like an indoor garden and you can admire all different types of plants, trees and bushes. It's incredible!
They sell seeds for just about any plant you'd want. And on that note, they sell just about any plant you're looking for. We've purchased everything from a Hibiscus plant to a Bougainvillea tree.
Garden Acres is not only refreshing for the eyes, but with all those plants & trees in there, it's a retreat for your lungs aswell! Especially living in a city that is in deep freeze for a good part of the year, Golden Acres is a great place to get an escape and to rejuvenate yourself and your inner spirit.
