Wow.
Was here for a wedding and did not want to leave. We took over the entire place which made it that much more fun but regardless, this place is one of a kind.
I had actually been here before about 10 years ago with my parents and also loved it then. But with a huge group of amazing friends and family it was over the top awesome.
Overlooking Skaha lake and only 10 min to Penticton this place cannot be beat. It is a throwback to a simpler time. White-washed Greek villa style home with eclectic, randomly designed rooms. If you like consistency, wifi and satellite TV...please move on. This place is not for you.
But, if you like to explore finding new things around every corner, enjoying the simple things in life like amazing food (the breakfasts are insanely good - i will venture to say the best breakfast buffet I have ever had!), strolls in the hills, wine and cheese in your own little corner with view, picking fresh fruit from trees (the most amazing yellow plums, apricots, pears etc), star gazing, late night hot tub and lounging by the pool... then please do not miss this place. I cannot wait to get back!!! -

When the motorized gate on a non-descript, unmarked road opens for you, you should know you are entering somewhere special.
After wanting to attend Joy Road Catering's Alfresco Winemaker Dinners for about 3 yrs, and after trying unsuccessfully last year to book a month in advance, I emailed Cameron and Dana from Joy Road the minute I heard they were opening for the 2011 season. I had a special day to celebrate that they had a dinner booked for, and it also happened to be the winemaker dinner for Joie Farm, one of my favorite wineries.
Best dinner of my life.
Ahem, back to the Estate. I booked a night here so I could enjoy the wine and not worry about transportation.
Arriving at 4 pm, we drive up the long steep road from Lakeside Drive, through the gate, and arrive into a lovely courtyard next to a large white-washed house. We wait for the the proprietor, Sarah, who shows us through the house.
You have never ever seen a house more full of lovely antiques and charm. I am not talking about the type of antiques you *expect* at a B&B, like awful Victorian floral curtains. No, it's clear the house was furnished by people with an appreciation of the world's antiques - there are medieval tapestries and Spanish wall hangings and Dutch sideboards. What I absolutely love about it is that every room and shared space has a different feel, and there is more than enough room that you never have to see another guest if you so desire. The outdoor spaces are also amazing: every outlook or patio space has a different assortment of chairs, couches, etc so you can find the perfect spot for reading your book.
There are no TVs, radios, phones and you won't miss them. There's a pool shaded by vines and blossoming trees, a hot tub overlooking the lake and the vineyard below, patios with amazing views that you can eat dinner and drink wine on, two awesome resident dogs that will happily accompany you on hikes of the hill (with amazing views) and 115 acres behind the Estate, there are games & bookshelves everywhere, and there's a full guest kitchen should you decide to cook food you've bought from the local markets. Or you can take a nap in your amazingly comfortable bed, then roll into a deep bathtub in your own room where you can enjoy the lake breezes.
Included in the price of your room is one of the most amazing organic breakfast buffets you've ever have. Scrambled eggs with zucchini, cream and cheese, tiny white chocolate scones, perfectly cooked sausages - everything done to the best of standards.
Everyone I met sounded sad when they found out I was there for the night only - and now I see why. There'll be a longer trip in the future!
