I used to go to Maya (another Korean hair salon) down the street, but got tired of the loooooooong wait even though I always made an "appointment".
Goa has the same pricing for haircuts ($25+ for women), and I like my haircuts slightly better here. They also have a customer loyalty program, and give 15% back on your next visit if you remember to keep your card.

In the past, I have paid $85+ for haircuts at high-end salons and left unhappy. In contrast, at Goa I get a very reasonably-priced haircut that doesn't take hours (because Hannah is gooood) and leave happy each time.

I think I return to Goa time after time not because I get great service, or because they're hair experts, but because I find the entire experience of going to a salon rather intimidating. Adding any additional uncertainty to the hair-care experience would just be too much for me.

So many things that happen here are a total black box. You can ask for a "perm" and they might give you a cold perm, or a digital perm. They might wash your hair, they might not. If you ask for some treatment, they might trim your hair, they might not. You never know how much things cost until after you're done, and now you owe.

But then again, this is the same for every other salon I've been to, and it's still far cheaper than any non-Korean place I know of (outside of Topcuts, ew).

Just be friendly, be firm on what you want, and it'll be okay.

On a completely unrelated note, the hairdresser serving the girl next to me gabbed the whole time about getting collagen injections, botox, breast implants, etc. I felt hideous next to these women, for choosing to be au naturel. Beauty salons are ironically named for how they really make us feel.

I have had great experiences at this salon. I think some stylists are better than others, as with any salon. I think Goa's salon prices are great - where else can you get a great cut for$ 30 and get back 10% of your purchase? I see Hannah, of whom is by appointment only - she is very talented and always gives me a different hair do. The place is busy and always buzzing.  Ask for a stylist that speaks english, or ask for Hannah - but you'll need to book with Hannah far in advance.
