    Service- Prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable
Food- generous portions, great quality and plated nicely
Drink- Great selection of BC Wines. Could use one more beer on Tap but they have the basics ( Lager, Pale Ale , and a Wheat ale)
General - Worth the wait! Comfortable , stylish evening atmosphere. And most of all, Great Value for money!

    Small, dark, and loud!
Hope you don't mind getting up close and personal with your dining-neighbors!  This restaurant lacks in space but makes up in noise!  Not the go-to place for a intimate dinner for two if you need privacy.
I didn't mind the loud hustle & bustle of the servers and the patrons inside.
We started with some fresh grilled oysters (which weren't on the menu but the chef happily made our request).  For the main, we had the halibut.  The fish was okay, but the star of the evening were definitely the oysters!

Nothing overly too stand-outish here for me...with the immense choice of seafood cuisine we have here in vancouver, this isn't one of the most memorable.

The food was good, as I would have expected from any one of Gord Martin's places, but the service blew and this delicate flower would rather stand and wait in the hot sun on Granville Island, in a half-hour long lineup for the same fish and chips, than return here.

Long story short: The place was dead (1 table other than my sister and I), the server (who clearly did not want to be working that day) was really curt, like she couldn't wait to get us out of there (it's not like there was a lineup waiting outside the door and they needed to flip the table immediately), and we asked for our dessert to arrive before our dinner, because we really, really like dessert (I have enjoyed every one tried so far at Bins 941 and 942), which is not a stupid, annoying request or anything, but the cooks were mad about it.

    And I heard them.

While I was walking to the washroom (the kitchen is open), and while I was in there.

The bathroom door is right next to the kitchen, and it is not soundproof. And the thing is, they knew I was from the table that ordered dessert first, and saw me coming, and yet they continued on anyway. Really?

It's not like I asked them to modify a dish ten ways and make unreasonable substitutions because I'm a fussy brat.

How hard is it? Pour some sugar on that brulée, blowtorch it, and give it to us first. And if the custard is not set or something, just tell us it's not ready. Worst-case scenario, I would think the kitchen is foolish for not being ready for service, but I wouldn't be thinking ill of them.

And yet, I do, because they gave me a good reason to.

Bad attitudes from everybody, which sucks, because I know what it's like in the industry and try to give people the benefit of the doubt. If the server doesn't want to serve, send them home, and if the cooks don't want to cook, tell them to hang up their aprons.

All cooks talk, but even I'm not stupid enough to complain about somebody when they're right there, during service, and this wasn't even something bitch-worthy.

    Come on, guys.

I was ecstatic when I learned that Go Fish was opening a restaurant on West Broadway. The one at the dock isn't as accessible as this one. However, my feelings are that the first location is light years better than this one.
It's a nice little place, but very small and cramped. - Two waitresses could barely even pass each other when they were in between the bar and some tables. The atmosphere in this restaurant is a lot like Earl's or Milestones.

Food here is decent. The thing I noticed right away is that it didn't taste the same as the other location's. The fish at this place has more of a beer-based batter. It still tastes good, but like I said, it isn't the same. They used to slather a huge glob of tartar sauce on the plate before putting the fish on top of it, but they stopped doing that, thankfully. The fries are addicting, but I don't think they give as much as the dock location.
Service is alright, but the waitresses came across as fake.

Came here tonight for dinner. The food here is really good and tasty. Tried the spot prawn potato salad and spot prawn risotto. Both taste fabulous and well presented.  Yum yum. Service was OK and friendly. Not too busy for a Friday night.

I need to learn that I should order what the restaurant is known for. Go Fish has a reputation for the best fish and chips in the GVRD and of course I order the prawn tacos...

The place is a tight squeeze when it's busy and it was busy for lunch. We sat at the bar which was easy enough. Now lets get to the service. I wouldn't say it's rockstar service. The girls were friendly enough, but I wouldn't say they were happy about it. And after their "boss" gave them shit for mixing up a table number (right after dropping our plates in front of us without a word and walking away) I wouldn't be either. Dude, I get the need to put your staff in line, but don't do it in front of your customers. Come on...

Anyway, my dish was bland, but my wife dug her Salmon Sandwich. And her fries were great, so I'm more than willing to stop in again but I'll be getting the fish and chips that everyone raves about. Hopefully it's a better experience.

After walking past this joint almost everyday on my way to school, a friend and i decided to give it a try.  The menu was amazing, but a bit more expensive than we were expecting to pay.  In the end though it was alright because the food was great! Service was okay, the waitress was very un-intrusive, however she wasn't very chatty.  This also might just be a trend in Vancouver restaurants, im not too sure.  There are a lot of other things i would like to try on the menu, will definitely be going back.

The husband and I stopped off here yesterday afternoon for a wee snack.

I give this the a-ok for the following reasons:

    - service was pleasant, but she seemed distracted by the guys in the kitchen.
    - the halibut and chips were excellent. I have no complaints
    - the tacos are disgusting. The chipotle sauce is completely overpowering and  I could only get through one bite. Luckily I brought my food disposal system with me (Husband) and they disappeared regardless.

For a $50 lunch, I'd like to give 4 or 5 stars, but Go fish, unfortunately, isn't worthy.

I went there for dinner with a friend on a relatively quiet Wednesday and we were blown away. We ordered the Picnic--a fish charcuterie sharing plate that was inventive and tasty. He went for the Grilled Salmon and mashed potatoes, and I has the Halibut and Chips and both were excellent.
The beer list is a little short but the wine list has a few fun choices by the glass (Joie Rose!). I can see the narrow room and service being a bit more of a challenge at lunch and when it's packed but I can only rate for my experience which was 5 stars.

Ahoy! It's now mid- to late-July 2011 and, as forecast, Bin 942's replacement by its more successful and casual sister restaurant, Go Fish, has opened its doors (softly, that is, but more loudly in a couple of days). This slightly bigger twin to the False Creek outpost boasts more tables, a bar with wine and local draft beer (three varieties of Red Truck), and extended hours (till 10:30pm). In other words, Vancouver's best fish and chips shack is now available and more accessible in restaurant form.

Having just opened yesterday to the public, Go Fish 2.0 was already packed with eager customers. The two girls manning the deck did their best to bus tables, pour beverages, take reservations, answer phones, and clear checks--all while maintaining a courteous smile. (I did hear one of them mutter a four-letter scatalogical word repeatedly under her breath, more out of exasperation than any anger.) But all the customers seemed willing to overlook any glitches because they were so happy to be able to grab a SALMON TACONE, OYSTER PO'BOY or FISH AND CHIPS on their lunch break, in any weather, and even at night.

And the food is good. I'm sure some of you out there will insist that the batter is better at the original blue shack, or that the extra 1.1 km from the waters of False Creek to West Broadway deplete the bivalves' freshness by a fractional percentage. Add to that hair-splitting thought that it's probably not Chef Gord himself salting your chips, and I can see how doubters might mount their case.

But let me just say that the food here was not only fabulous, but I noticed some added flourishes to the dishes. After all, the grub can now be served on real dishes, not paper plates and baskets. To top it all off, now you can wash down that beer-battered goodness with actual draft beer ($4/pint) or a nice selection of wine.

Decor is simple and opens up the space--as much as can be hoped for--compared to Bin 942. Circular or oval-shaped blue-rimmed mirrors echo the undulating aquatic theme of Go Fish's logo and the decorative flourishes, ranging from fish tackle fixtures to nori art (yes, seaweed on the walls), gives the eye some amusement as your stomach waits for its share of deep-fried fun.

Went to the soft opening dinner for media where food & service were excellent. Wish I could say the same for lunch.

Food was good and hot, but service was pretty poor (if you didn't get served by the 2 brunettes). We were told it would be a 12 minute wait for our lunch (we said we were in a rush and only had 35 minutes), and they took over 20. We were told she'd rush back with the bill. She didn't (I had to ask a brunette). I asked for a takeout container to hold the food we couldn't finish. She gave us one visibly too small to hold our leftovers. Tip? 5%. I was being nice.

Well, at least they're consistent with the service at the Gran Isl location (I prefer their lunch menu; think the Broadway location is better for dinner).

We were excited to see this restaurant had opened since we are big fans of the original stand off Granville Island. We took two out-of-town friends there a couple weeks ago, and we very soon regretted having done so. Perhaps because this location is not right beside the wharf, they are not able to offer the same awesome daily selections as the stand. So that was letdown number one. One of our friends ordered a salad with scallops. There were two scallops in the salad. Two. That's it. That was letdown number two. I had my usual oyster poboy, and it was similar to what I've always enjoyed. The kids enjoyed their fish and chips. But I think we will stick with the original location from now on.

The food is as good as the original Go Fish, but you definitely get more food for less at the original. However, if you want to try some new menu items, such as their amazing chowder, it's worth checking out the Broadway location. Also good if you want some booze while you eat your fish and chips, but for some reason when we were there on Saturday they couldn't serve anything. It's a mixed bag when you come here, but the food is good.

Stopped by here for some takeout at about 2pm on Monday and it was still busy after the lunch rush, no free tables, so that's always a good sign. I ordered a one piece halibut and chips, though the sandwiches were all tempting. I thought the best way to gauge a place is by it's most basic attraction and had pretty high expectations as I have enjoyed their food at the original location. The waitress was great, she had obviously been run off her feet for some time and was still friendly and attentive. I waited almost 25 minutes for my food, which was really long for fish & chips, and I regretted not having ordered a beer for my wait. It was clear that they were busy and maybe still a bit in the weeds from lunch, so I tried to be patient. I watched other orders being brought out to the tables and thought the sandwiches looked really tasty.
When I got my order home (2 blocks away), I was a bit surprised at how small my piece of fish was. The orders I had seen going out to tables were probably cod, but they had been twice the size.  However, it tasted fantastic, as did the slaw. Unfortunately, the fries were awful. I don't deep-fry at home, so I'm not sure what was done to them to make them so poor. They seemed old or double-fried or frozen from a bag, I don't know what, but I threw most of them away.
So, I'd give them 5stars for the fish and slaw and waitress and 1star for the fries and long wait for my order, averaging out to 3stars overall. The fish was so good that I'll definitely give them another chance to see if the fries I received were an anomaly.

Went to try out this Go Fish location for lunch today. I was very impressed: the food was outstanding, the service was quick and friendly. I had the basic fish and chips, which comes with an interesting coleslaw. The fish was nicely fried (not too greasy) and the tartar sauce was fantastic. The fries are crispy and delicious.

This place has some of the best fish and chips around: go try it out!

Note: I took off one star because the beer I ordered was warm. This is probably just because the place only opened a few days ago and some kinks are still being worked out. Don't let this deter you, this place is going to be very popular very soon.

Best Tacone's anywhere, We eat here all the time and the fish is always really fresh. Long wait times, and hard to find a place to sit down. Fantastic when the weather is good, not a  place to go on a rainy day.
