GNC is a supplements store. They carry a large selection of vitamins, minerals, proteins and health snacks. It is probably the most popular supplement store and contains a great variety but it's just alright.
I say it is just alright because the prices are pretty high. The competition doesn't really exist on the same level as GNC so they can charge high. The staff is really knowledgeable and very helpful. They do try and sell you things you don't need but most stores do that.
If you are really in the need of supplements and things along those lines look for some independent places, or some less popular ones and you will find better prices and you will also find they carry things GNC doesn't, at a lower price.
