We had the most delightful lunch with the best service. It was simply lovely!!
We started with the trio of dips - olive, garlic and sun dried tomato tapenade. It came with some crusty pizza dough bread sticks. Tasty! Coupled with a bottle of Rodney Strong Cabernet it was perfect.
Next came the main dishes. Mum had the calamari - lightly breaded, not too chewy and came with a side of tart garlic aioli. Hubby and Sis both got the Rueben. Hubby really liked his, but Sis thought hers was a bit greasy. Yummy, but greasy. I had the Short Rib Dip and garlic fries. The short ribs were so tender and the red wine dip complimented it perfectly. The chef made garlic fries specially for me and they were nice. They also brought me a spicy aioli to dip them in. Mmmm.
The view is lovely too, right on the water. There's a patio for those warm summer days.
TIP: Parking is tough on the street. Parking in the dollar lot just a short walk away.Listed in: All Hail Victoria!

Without a doubt the worst meal I've ever paid for. You don't go to a place as cheesily named as "Glo" with high expectations, but the quality of food was frankly shocking. I could go on about the tacky decor or the gut wrenchingly embarrassing lite-techno soundtrack, but it must be the food that takes center stage as the most egregious aspect of this disaster of a restaurant. I ordered the special which was described as Flank Steak over Sauteed Spinach with a Potato Pancake and Shoestring Potatoes. Pretty simple sounding dish to execute properly right?
The Shoestring Potatoes were actually those dried Chinese noodles which was bizarre and inedible, stacked on top of the rest of the dish which was a pile of all the described ingredients in a childlike attempt to look like modern cuisine. Noodles pushed aside I discovered that the flank was cooked medium though I had asked for medium rare, which turned out to be irrelevant though as it was about 50% obvious, crunchy gristle. It was also really greasy which is a first for me with a steak. It was also presliced before given adequate time to rest which meant steak blood leaked onto everything below it. The spinach was actually edible, but soggy. The Potato Pancake was in fact an old kitchen sponge well past it's prime. Either that or the closest thing on earth that could replicate that taste and texture yet still be made out of food.
The dish was in short the most epic failure on a plate that I've ever witnessed. Every aspect of the dish was so poorly executed it crossed into the realm of farce. Anyone who would pay the chef for this level of incompetence and anyone who would pay to eat it have lower standards than I can imagine.
My pal had the fish and chips. Ordered the two piece, ate half of one and then we left. It tasted of dirty fry oil, being overcooked, and the paper it was served on.
Worst meal ever in the cheesiest lounge on earth. Avoid if you have an ounce of self-respect. -

I went to Glo for the first time the other night. The service was slow, the atmosphere was lame (really quiet club music...), and I thought the food was bland and boring ( I'm not even a very picky eater). My boyfriend has the hawaiian pizza which he thought was fine but I thought it wasn't much for $13 dollars. My Thai noodle salad consisted of bland noodles, generic mixed greens, 5 bites of chicken, lightly coated in soy sauce.
We had a calamari appy that was also overpriced and took forever ( with maybe 5 tables in the restaurant).
they had some cool drinks though... but i
want my $40 back. -

glo seems like a great place to get some food as a group. The views are lovely, the space looks glossy and clean, and the service is solid.
I appreciate the fact that the menu's pretty diverse I was there with a bunch of people, and everyone found something that worked for them. I shared a yummy tapas platter with friends, which was fairly popular. The Mediterranean Pizza I had was technically sound, but otherwise unremarkable. The food's solid, but absent the location, it's not enough to make me want to come back. -

Looks aren't supposed to be everything but at Glo it's about all they have to offer. The great views offered by their patio let you start your day well but the food is uninspired and merely adequate.
It was average coffee followed by juice out of a made from concentrate carton - I can't recall the last time I went to a restaurant that didn't squeeze their own juice or at least use the best juice they could get their hands on. Denny's? McDonald's?
The corned beef and hash was ham-like corned beef with roast potatoes. Perhaps it was attempt to be creative but it felt more like an attempt to suck at making corned beef and hash - I had never envisioned a day when I would eat inadequate corned beef and hash, now I don't have to envision it, I've experienced it.
Comparing this place to Earl's or Cactus Club would be an insult to Earl's and Cactus Club. Still the great views mitigate a lot of this but if you are blind there'd be little point to visit here. -

Trendy decor! Fabulous patio! Friendly and attentive waitstaff! Plus delicious food! It's the perfect place to spend a summer night on their huge patio, with a great view of the Gorge and sunset. And because it's not downtown, it's not a tourist-trap. My fave cocktail is the fresh berry mojito. And share the tasty appy platter for 2 with extra crustinis!
One thing to note is that they don't appear to be very young child-friendly. Usually I would say "wonderful! no screaming kids" however I went once to Glo with some friends who have a 2-year old and they didn't have any high chairs or booster seats. Had to wait for a booth so the child could nest between bodies and not fall on the floor. Other than that, I highly recommend it. -

Great patio, crappy service. Its taking so long to get my credit card run i had time to check email and write this review. Food was mediocre at best. The ketchup was the best part of my meal. Next time it will be drinks only and ill order them straight from the bar before heading out to the patio.

While visiting Victoria, we went to Glo for my birthday dinner with my in-laws, who frequent this restaurant regularly as it's wheelchair accessible and geographically desirable. There were 8 of us and the service was good on a Thursday night. I had their special Lobster Mac & Cheese, which when I asked the server to explain it, she said "a lobster tail on the side with mac and cheese". But when it came, it was lobster pieces mixed in with the mac and cheese. No big deal! Still was awesome! This was deliciously made cheesy gooey goodness with large bits of lobster. So yummy! Their portions were very generous because we had a few take home containers. And because it was my birthday they gave me a free martini - their popular Vienna. So great! I know that we'll be back and that's all right with me. No complaints.

We ordered pizza, salmon dish, chicken club, burger... All items were really good. We ate almost everything. The place is awesome, very nice. The wait staffs are nice as well. Food came out pretty quickly. I would definitely come by here again if I am around.

We saw Glo during the day while we were waiting for a harbour ferry and decided to visit for dinner. We were greeted immediately and offered a wonderful seat on the patio. That is where the positive experience ended.
The restaurant was not very busy at all so we expected prompt service but sat at our table for about 30 minutes before we were approached by our waitress for our drink order and this was only after we caught the eye of passing staff who called our waitress over. Sadly, we didn't have a drink menu so she had to run off to get one but we ordered our food and drinks at the same time worried that we might not see our waitress again for a long while. We were right. Our drinks came relatively quickly (about 15-20 minutes) and then we waited. And waited. Our appetizer arrived first even though we ordered everything to come at the same time. Fortunately my friend and I had a lot to talk about as we sat there for a LOOOONG time before our food arrived. This is after sitting with dirty plates and 3 assurances that our food would be ready in a couple minutes. Finally our main courses arrived 1.5 hours after we were seated and both our orders were cold and rubbery. My friend's food was edible but mine was not. The potatoes were hard and undercooked and the tuna tasteless. We brought this to the attention of the waitress who offered to take my meal back and bring me something "mushier." Since I am not a senior or have false teeth I declined this tempting offer. However, a properly cooked and hot entree would have been appreciated.
We sat for about another 40 minutes waiting to have our drinks refreshed and to order dessert but our waitress was too busy sitting at a table with friends and other staff on the other side of the restaurant. Giving up on having our plates cleared and our bill brought we approached the bartender inside to pay and get out. Upon hearing that my meal was unsatisfactory he offered me a $4 reduction on my main course (less than 25% of the price) and told us he'd tell management (who was absent that evening) about our poor service but didn't ask for any details from us.
I eat out a lot and this is honestly the worse service and food situation I have ever experienced. My friend put himself through university as a server in a restaurant similar to this and he was appalled as well. Too bad because the excellent location and ambience should make this place a go-to destination for a fun meal out.
