Glebe Video is the best place to go in Ottawa if you're looking for foreign and older films, especially rare titles. They have an enormous collection of foreign movies, which are usually sorted according to country. They also still hold on to hundreds of VHS titles, often because they're rare movies that are difficult or impossible to get on DVD.
The price of new releases and old releases are basically the same ($5), which makes this place fairly expensive for renting old movies. They only accept cash and still don't use a computer system. However, the staff are very knowledgeable and can usually be counted on to find a movie for you in the store if you're having trouble.
My only big criticism is the staff can border on pretentious from time to time. I've often found when I ask them for suggestions and I explicitly outline the type of movie I'm looking for, they tend to recommend movies they think I "should" like and not what I'm actually asking for.
